Nicole Chrysostom-Murray is a Brooklyn-born writer and producer who lives in Toronto. She earned her BA in journalism from the University of Maryland and spent several years on the corporate side of the entertainment industry - first in music at Sony Music Entertainment Canada marketing superstars like P!nk, P.Diddy, Usher, and Keshia Chanté; and then in television as the Director of Marketing at Entertainment One (eOne), developing and executing domestic and international campaigns to promote top-rated series like The Walking Dead, Designated Survivor, Sharp Objects, The Book of Negroes, Rookie Blue, Private Eyes, and many more. She also contributed extensively to the written content in eOne's international sales catalogue.
Although she enjoyed her successful, marketing career, Nicole's creative calling and lifelong dream of being a writer/producer kept tugging at her heart, so she filled every spare moment with screenwriting courses, earning high grades and high praise from leading industry instructors in the US and Canada. Being at eOne, immersed in reading and evaluating scripts, contributing in writers' rooms, visiting sets, and meeting regularly with global network and studio executives also provided ample opportunities for Nicole to hone her writing skills. Decision makers, who read her scripts, often encouraged Nicole to transition to the creative side of the business, which she happily did.
In 2020, Nicole's dramedy pilot, Rhythm & Brew, garnered several accolades including placing in the Austin Film Festival and receiving unanimous acclaim from the judges. It was also named an Official Selection in the Diversity Film & Script Showcase. In 2021, Nicole was selected into the Top 25 Cohort of the Netflix/Banff Diversity of Voices Initiative and was hired to write a feature based on a popular YA novel. She also began development of Rhythm & Brew with a prominent, LA-based production company. Most recently, Nicole wrote and executive produced her short film, Boxed In.
