Fans know he throws huge “Sweet 16” birthday bashes for his kids. Minaj once reflected on how she was Justin Combs’ date for his 16th birthday party. However, her late appearance didn’t impress Diddy. Here’s what she said.

Singer-songwriter Justin Bieber took a trip down memory lane to celebrate the release of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ new project, ‘The Love Album: Off The Grid’. The ‘Confident’ artiste recalled a time before the fame when he tried to offer his talents to Diddy but was shut down, reports People magazine. “I remember going to my brother Diddy’s office to pitch him a song I wrote for him when I was like 14, sadly the song was trash haha,” Bieber said on his Instagram Story.
Unfortunately, “it would be a hard no from him,” as Bieber put it. However, the Canadian superstar is proof that a dream deferred is not always a dream denied. “Fast forward to a few years ago Puff asked if I would freestyle something for his upcoming love album. Wild full circle moment, love you @diddy,” the 29-year-old concluded.

Key Art for Mixtape, streaming on Paramount+, 2023. Paramount+ announced that Mixtape, a new documentary exploring how the creation of mixtapes launched hip hop into mainstream culture, will premiere exclusively on the service Tuesday, August 1 in the U.S. and Canada and Wednesday, August 2 in the U.K., Australia, Latin America and Brazil, with further international markets to follow later in the year. Mixtape is the story of hip hop refusing to take no for an answer. Before radio play, the internet, and social media, there were mixtapes. DJs were tastemakers, trendsetters and creators of the sound that became the biggest musical genre on the planet. The importance of mixtapes goes well beyond the tapes themselves. Mixtapes were a form of currency and a signifier that someone was “in the know” and had their ear to the streets. The culture was too strong to be stopped, and the artists were too...

The BET Awards, otherwise known as “Culture’s Biggest Night,” has long highlighted artistic diversity within the Black community and the broader African diaspora and the 2023 edition was no different.
With this year marking the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, a significant amount of the BET Awards telecast was devoted to celebrating the genre’s dynamic legacy. Old school and new school rappers hit the stage at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles — including The Sugarhill Gang, Fat Joe, Fabolous, Remy Ma, Doechii, and Ice Spice, among others — for a rare night that encompassed rap styles from the East Coast, West Coast and the South and beyond that have come to dominate music and culture in the U.S. and globally. Sunday’s telecast captured the performances and impassioned speeches but missed some trends and moments on the carpet and behind the scenes.

The 2023 BET Awards honored the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with dozens of performances that played like a musical family reunion as pioneers of the genre blazed the stage during a hostless but party-filled show held during the writers strike.
The Sugarhill Gang, Big Daddy Kane, Mc Lyte, Doug E. Fresh, Erick Sermon and Keith Murray performed Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, celebrating rap music and honoring its roots as well as its domination in pop culture.
Ja Rule, Red Man, E-40, Master P, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Styles P, T.I., Fabolous, Trick Daddy, Trina, Uncle Luke and Skillz hit the stage, helping the four-hour-show flow during the writers strike, which several presenters acknowledged before giving out awards, including Grammy-winning singer Muni Long.
“Let’s take a moment to acknowledge and stand in solidarity with the artists who make us laugh, cry and, most important, think — our Writers Guild of America family.

Cannon continued, “But this is a great lesson to take care of You or You won’t be able to take care of everyone else. Don’t trip though, I don’t need any well wishes or prayers , just some solid rest and I will be back on the journey to becoming stronger than ever… it’s just pneumonia, nothing I can’t handle.”
The television personality and father of 11, and soon to be 12, shared that the “crazy thing” was that he was “rocking a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden” the night before.

Think of Snoop Dogg’s The Algorithm as good housekeeping. Even legendary brands like Def Jam occasionally need revitalization. The label may be decades removed from its late Nineties renaissance when giants like Jay-Z, Dmx, and Ja Rule ruled the universe. But when the Doggfather announced in June that he was onboard as an executive creative and strategic consultant, it reminded folks that hey, Def Jam still exists. It’s more than just a trademark at the bottom of a Justin Bieber album.

Don't ever speak to Beyoncé or her sister, Solange, ever again. In a new interview with radio show The Breakfast Club, rapper Fabolous revealed that an old freestyle song lyric of his was criticized by Queen Bey herself. The line is found on the 2010 track "For the Money," which features Nicki Minaj. In one of his verses, the rapper says, "If you could have Beyoncé, would you take Solange?" Naturally, that line didn't sit well with the Knowles sisters, who have proven they will defend each other whenever necessary (never forget the elevator). As Fabolous revealed, Bey spoke with him about the lyric. As he said on the radio show, "The...

For a clumsy, fleeting moment, the punchline was the most potent tool in a rapper’s war chest. The “hashtag rap” era birthed, built, and sustained careers, allowing rappers as varied as Big Sean, Drake, Lil Wayne, Fabolous, and Ludacris to create hits built on the same formula. Performers would introduce a joke or premise in the first half of a lyric and immediately deliver a punchline at the end of a bar, repeating that same structure for each subsequent lyric. While none of these artists necessarily created the technique,...

Freestyles aren’t known for being bastions of vulnerability. Traditionally, the form is a mixture of technical skill, improvisation, showmanship, and hyperbolic boasts. In July, Tyler, The Creator’s “Butt Sex” freestyle for Funk Flex broke the form wide open with a mix of trolling and fleeting moments of sincerity. In a world where freestyles have increasingly become obsolete — if some of the most successful rap songs in the world are stream of consciousness bars over Fruity Loops beats, what is a freestyle? — it was a rare spectacle. Almost two months later,...

On Tuesday night in New York, Amazon had its Beyonce moment: Like “Homecoming” brought home a slew of Emmy nominations for Netflix, Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty show seems likely to generate awards buzz for the streaming service — and the superstar.
Rihanna got a standing ovation from the exclusive crowd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, who came to see the star present her fall/winter 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week show, but ended up witnessing a full-blown television production that will stream on Amazon Prime on Sept. 20.
The show was unlike anything previously staged during Fashion Week — and possibly anywhere. Rather than a catwalk show, the event was more of an audio-visual experience, combining music, art, fashion and dance, creating a multi-sensory experience for the audience. Leave it to Rihanna to bring together lingerie, Emmy-worthy choreography, music, celebrities — Migos, DJ Khaled, Big Sean, A$AP Ferg, Fat Joe, Fabolous,...
