Exclusive: Former WME TV agent Julia Bodner has joined Envisionary Management, the company launched in January by another WME alum, Jon Rosen, who was a senior partner and board member at the agency. Bodner is his first major hire.
Based in New York, Bodner will be a talent manager and partner at Envisionary. Since leaving WME several months ago, she explored multiple opportunities, untimely deciding to reunite with Rosen.
At Envisionary, Bodner will manage a roster of clients as well as develop and produce TV projects as she will help to build out the representation, production, and consulting arms of the company.
Bodner spent a decade in the Television department of William Morris Endeavor, the last five years as an agent. She specialized in Non-Scripted TV and represented talent across lifestyle, comedy, music and more with an additional focus on selling premium documentary content with her filmmaker, producer and production company clients.

Jon Rosen, a longtime WME agent and executive who has represented some of TV’s best known news anchors and celebrity chefs, is leaving the Endeavor-owned agency to launch his own management firm, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Rosen, who represents NBC News’ Stephanie Ruhle, Willie Geist and Hallie Jackson as well as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, is set to manage many of his current clients, according to one of these people, and they are expected to retain WME as an agency. A WME spokesperson did not respond immediately to a query seeking comment and Rosen could not be reached immediately for comment via a call Wednesday.
His exit comes as WME parent Endeavor has come under new scrutiny on Wall Street. The company, which recently helped create the combat-sports company Tko, suggested in October that it might consider going private.

Fox Sports is betting big on MLB analyst Alex Rodriguez.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the 14-time MLB all star and World Series champion is closing in on a contract extension with Fox Sports, a deal that if completed will keep him working big MLB games for Fox for years to come.
Rodriguez is a critical piece of Fox’s MLB on Fox studio team, working alongside host Kevin Burkhardt, 10-time all star and three-time world champion David Ortiz (“Big Papi”), as well as 14-time all star and 5-time world champion Derek Jeter, who previously played with Rodriguez on the New York Yankees.
Terms of the new Fox deal were not immediately clear, though it is believed to be the most lucrative deal yet for an MLB analyst, with a term of more than three years.

Note: This post contains spoilers for “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”
Media personality Ben Shapiro missed the point of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” in a lengthy Twitter thread lodging his complaints about the story and the film’s politics, and his lukewarm takes were met with significant pushback on social media the weekend that the film hit Netflix.
“Glass Onion” (once again written and directed by Rian Johnson) follows clever detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), who is back to solve yet another murder mystery. Tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) sends out a puzzle box to his group of friends — a politician (Kathryn Hahn), a canceled model (Kate Hudson), her assistant (Jessica Henwick), a men’s rights YouTuber (Dave Bautista), his girlfriend (Madelyn Cline), a scientist who works with Bron (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Bron’s former business partner (Janelle Monáe) — that invites them each to his...

June 1, 2019 marks the official 10-year anniversary of the William Morris Agency-Endeavor merger. It wasn’t a marriage of equals, with 14-year-old Endeavor, then valued at $100 million-plus, joining forces with a Hollywood royalty, the 111-year-old Wma valued at more than twice as much. But, in one of the most shocking Hollywood takeovers, it was Endeavor, with its 80 agents, that came up on top, taking advantage of the existing fractures within Wma leadership to take control of the bigger rival, which boasted more than 300 agents at the time.
“The Wma leadership was totally blindsided; they truly believed that they would be running the combined company,” one insider said. Indeed, Wma was supposed to control five of Wme’s nine board seats versus four for Endeavor, with Wma CEO Jim Wiatt leading Wme as chairman and Wma president Dave Wirtschafter as co-ceo alongside Endeavor toppers Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell.

Terence Gray got his start in the TV event business by staging sitcom readings on stage in New York with writer and producer friends.
Next week, he will preside over the 14th edition of the New York Television Festival, a weeklong affair designed to connect emerging talents with the executives and talent agents that can advance their careers.
On the latest episode of “Strictly Business,” Variety‘s weekly podcast featuring conversations with industry leaders about the business of media and entertainment, Gray spoke with Cynthia Littleton, Variety‘s managing editor of television, about the evolution of the festival, which runs July 14-20 at various venues.
Gray cites the mid-2000s moment of YouTube’s arrival and the meritocracy it created, coupled with the availability of low-cost digital production tools, for inspiring the idea of a festival revolving around a competition for independent produced pilots. The Nytvf was also ahead of...
