- He was turned down twice by the SUNY Purchase Film Conservatory. As a result, the accepted film students nick-named him "The Wannabe Film Student" just to mock him. While still attending as a liberal arts major, he took filmmaking classes outside of the Film Conservatory curriculum and made his own projects. The film students (one of them being his roommate) often saw him shooting video on campus and yelled out to him, telling him to give it up. He was hired as a freelancer at JHD Productions that following summer and then at NBC four years later.
- Attended four colleges: Suffolk County Community College (1998-2000), SUNY Purchase (2000-2001), SUNY Oswego (2002), and New York Institute of Technology (2003-2005). He graduated with a BFA in Communications in 2005, majoring in video production and broadcasting.

- In 2001, while at ABC, he stood in during rehearsal for "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" before the taping of a celebrity charity episode and played the game on the set. During the show, he was in the audience and sat behind Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and the News with whom he discussed answers.
- At the age of 15 in 1995, Lyme Meningitis settled in his spine which could have resulted in him being in a wheelchair for the rest of his life if it wasn't found and treated.
- At the age of 13 in 1993, he was a member of the Theatre Three Dramatic Academy in Port Jefferson, NY.
- Worked as a production assistant on an infomercial for body builder, John Basedow (2003).
- From 2005 to 2007, he has edited over 500 local commercials.
- In 2005, he was the on-stage camera operator for Dee Snider's performance with Twisted Sister at the Patchogue Theater in New York.
- Favorite movies include The Butterfly Effect (2004) and Romeo + Juliet (1996).
- Due to his knowledge of visual effects, director Andreas Schnaas allowed him to direct the sequence in Nikos the Impaler where Nikos throws the sword that cuts off half of the victim's head leaving the tongue exposed. He also operated the camera on the dolly track to achieve the sword POV effect he was going for. Andreas later offered him the job of directing the sequel to the film, but due to conflicts over the production of the film between Andreas and the film's producer, the sequel was never made.
- Named his cat, Sir Casey Ravenclaw Jones Esq. III. (aka, Crusty).
- Designed the first logo for LIGALY (Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth) based in Bay Shore, NY that was used from 2000 to 2008.
- Attended Pride For Youth (a community group for gay and lesbian youth) as a teenager and crossed paths with Kate McKinnon when she was around 15, who is now an actress and Saturday Night Live performer. He would cross paths with her again about 15 years later when they were both at NBC.
- He was one of the original co-founders of PTV, the Purchase College television station, in 2001. After he left the college, the station grew with the work of other contributing students and continues to operate today.
