MidWest WeirdFest has announced its full program for 2022. The 6th annual film festival – a cinematic celebration of all things fantastic, frightening, paranormal, and just plain weird – takes place March 4th – 6th 2022 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Among the fest’s fantastic line-up of horror, sci-fi, underground and documentary cinema, are a number of films world premiering at the event. One of these is Hair-Trigger, a genre-bending crime caper come rural horror movie. Says the feature film’s director Steven G. Warkel:
Hair-Trigger is truly a product of the region. Our cast and crew along with the settings of the film are deeply rooted in the midwest. It’s something that we’re proud of. So I couldn’t be more eager for the world premiere of our crazy horror thriller mash-up to be at a festival that is defined by what our film is all about.

The first panel at New York Comic Con’s main stage on Friday, October 9 marked the triumphant return of an old favorite as DC Comics editors and creators gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns. They also previewed the upcoming The Dark Knight 3: The Master Race. This miniseries is co-written by original Dark Knight creator Frank Miller and seasoned comics veteran Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets) with pencils from Andy Kubert (Flashpoint) and inks from the legendary Klaus Janson (Daredevil). All of these creators were present at the panel with Miller making a surprise entrance in his trademark fedora to thunderous applause. They were joined by DC editor and moderator Brian Cunningham and publisher Jim Lee, who worked with Miller on the controversial All-Star Batman and Robin.
Cunningham opened the panel by giving the history of The Dark Knight Returns, and how it deconstructed superhero mythology while also pioneering storytelling techniques,...

Rupert Wyatt's Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a great film, and it payed homage to several aspects of the original film that it was inspired by. One of them included Dodge Landon (Tom Felton) yelling "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!" He also says, "It's a madhouse! A madhouse!" Thanks to Film Sketchr we have some concept art and information regarding an alternate ending to the film that would have offered another big nod to the original film.
The ending we saw to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes saw Will Rodman's (James Franco) emotional release of Caesar into the forest. It was followed by a precursor of where the story would go when Caesar and his pack looked out over the city of San Francisco. Then during the film's credits scene, we see Rodman's neighbor/airline pilot become the second...

If ever there were a franchise built on the concept of "almost," it would have to be the reboot to Planet Of The Apes. Particularly with Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, there seemed to be a lot of alteration and change between the written drafts of the script and what eventually made it onto film. First the film almost took place much later in the future, then it almost ended with a vision of impending military doom. Now we've learned that Rupert Wyatt's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, much like its successor, underwent a revision of its ending. Blogger Maurice Mitchell, operator of Film Sketchr, landed a brilliant exclusive from concept artist Brian Cunningham, and when we say brilliant we mean brilliant. The ending we saw with Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes was Will Rodman's tearful release of Caesar into the forest, followed...

Here's what editor Brian Cunningham had to say about the upcoming series, as well as the teasers which were released via The Source. For more details on DC's decision to dissolve the marriage of Barry Allen and Iris West, click Here. "Let me say this up front: Flash is the DC series I’ve always loved the most. I own more Flash comics than I can count, and have adored the character since I was a 4-year-old living in a tiny Queens apartment. So it’s an understatement to say that editing this series in DC Comics – The New 52 is a true privilege. And what a series it is! The super-talented writer-artist team of Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato has me running giddy on a cosmic treadmill! Flash remains a very fun series to read — it’s got drama, intrigue, tragedy, humor…everything you want out of your entertainment!"...
