Pinnacle is eyeing a mid-year release, with a full trailer to be released early next month.
The company has previously distributed Predestination, Healing, Return to Nim.s Island and the John Jarratt thriller Stalkher, making genre fare like Red Billabong "a natural addition" to Pinnacle's slate, the company said in a statement.
Red Billabong stars Home and Away's Dan Ewing and Dance Academy's Tim Pocock, alongside Sophie Don, Jessica Green (Lightning Point), Ben Chisholm, John Reynolds, Emily Joy, James Straiton, Felix Williamson (Underbelly: Razor, The Great Gatsby) and Gregory Fryer (The Sapphires).
"We're thrilled to be working with the likes of Pinnacle Films", said writer-director Luke Sparke.

Gary Hamilton.s Arclight will launch global sales efforts on Red Billabong, an action-adventure about two brothers who discover old secrets and family ties in the Outback, at the Afm in November.
Arclight replaces the originally announced sales agent, the UK.s Manifest Film Sales/Intandem Films.
.Manifest/Intandem are gone. Arclight secured the film off them,. said Luke Sparke, who makes his writing and directing debut on the film.
Dan Ewing and Tim Pocock play the brothers whose friends go missing, prompting fears they are being stalked by someone or something from their worst nightmares.
The supporting cast includes newcomers Sophie Don, Ben Chisholm and James Straiton plus John Reynolds, Emily Joy, Felix Williamson and Gregory Fryer.
Producer Carly Imrie said, .It.s such an exciting and fun film . a mini-Australian blockbuster. I believe we have discovered some incredible up and coming talent in the process..

Tagline: "Blood is thicker than water." The Australian shot Red Billabong has a new trailer. The clip shows several characters in the outback and a mysterious creature. And, Red Billabong will attend the Oz Comic Con, later this year. The film stars: Jessica Green (Rise), Tim Pocock (Lemon Tree Passage), Dan Ewing and John Reynolds. The film's trailer is hosted here. The trailer keeps much of the story in mystery. However, two brothers discover a family secret. That secret has an appetite and it is borne of your worst nightmares. The film is being repped by sales agent Darclight. Still, a distribution date for North America has not been released. But, this film is expected to show at film festivals soon, now that this title is complete. Fans of creature features can view the thrilling trailer below. Release Date: Tba. Red Billabong is being shot in Queensland, Australia. The film is part thriller and part drama. In the film, several characters are stalked by an unknown entity. As well, Red Billabong stars Jessica Green (Rise), Tim Pocock (Lemon Tree Passage), Dan Ewing and John Reynolds. Being produced by Sparke Films, an unofficial poster has been released for the film. The graphic shows characters and a single foe. The two brothers are prominent as menacing red eyes stare downwards. Is the creature supernatural? Film fans will have to wait for that answer, with the film expected to complete shooting shortly. As well, a few stills have been released for the film. The photos show actors Tim Pocock and Sophie Don as Tristan and Anya. Both characters look to be in peril. A second still shows an unnamed character in the dark of night. The photos rest below.
