Frieze Los Angeles took off on the V.I.P opening day on Thursday, Feb. 16, at its new space at the historic Santa Monica Airport. The expansive show, featuring more than 120 galleries from 22 counties, is the biggest L.A. edition of the famed art fair to date, and celebrities dressed accordingly.
Gwyneth Paltrow wore a pair of trusty trainers to traverse the mammoth fair — which sprawls over both the Barker Hangar and a specially designed tent — as did Princess Eugenie, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, who is a director at global gallery Hauser & Wirth.
Other notable attendees included Shailene Woodley, Heidi Klum, Bobby Flay, Catherine Keener, Jared Leto, producer Ronnie Sassoon, Christopher Waltz, Owen Wilson, mogul Lynda Resnick, Justine Bateman, John McEnroe, Lionel Ritchie, Margot Robbie, writer/producer/collector Maria Arena Bell, Endeavor’s Patrick Whitesell, WME’s Dan Aloni, CAA’s Joel Lubin, producer David Hoberman, and Tyler the Creator,...

A renowned estate with an illustrious pedigree in what is arguably the plummiest pocket of Los Angeles’s tony Bel Air community, owned for the last 25-plus years by Bill Bell, scion of the Bell family soap opera dynasty, and his former soap opera writer/producer wife Maria Arena Bell, has come up for sale with an asking price of $37.5 million. Designed in the early 1930s by esteemed high-society architect Wallace Neff for film producer and studio mogul Sol Wurtzel, the elegant Spanish Colonial mansion, represented by Kurt Rappaport at Westside Estate Agency, measures in at 13,361-square feet with five bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms.
According to Michael Gross’s 2011 real estate page-turner Unreal Estate, the property was purchased in 1953 for a reported $125,000 by celebrity psychic and astrologer-to-the-stars Anthony Norvell, who claimed to have sublet it at various times to Howard Hughes, Prince Ranier of Monaco and, “The King” himself, Elvis Presley.

'Young & The Restless' Star Michael Muhney Fired For Allegedly Sexually Harassing Costar Hunter King
Michael Muhney, who stars on daytime soap opera The Young & the Restless as the popular Adam Newman, was fired last month following allegations that he’d sexually harassed actress Hunter King.
'Y&R's Michael Muhney Fired
King, 20, who plays Summer on the soap opera, reported to executives that Muhney had groped her chest on multiple occasions. The alleged sexual advances were not wanted or solicited, according to King, reported TMZ. King's accusations against the actor were apparently not the first, as Muhney had reportedly been the subject of complaints many times in the past.
Hunter King as Summer on 'Young & the Restless'
While some doubt the veracity of King’s charges against Muhney, former Young & the Restless showrunner Maria Arena Bell believes that Muhney should have been let go sooner for his behavior.

The Young and the Restless tallied 23 nominations as honors were announced this morning for the 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Restless’ impressive take helped CBS lead all networks with 50 overall nominations. PBS and ABC followed, with 44 and 38 nods, respectively.
General Hospital, which earned 19 nominations, joined Restless in the race for Outstanding Drama Series, and Sesame Street received 17 nods, including three for Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo who faces allegations of sexual misconduct.
Good Morning America and Today will bring their ratings rivalry to the Emmys, where they’ll be joined by CBS Sunday Morning in the Outstanding Morning Program category.

A lively evening of friendly bidding wars led to a highly successful evening for the 9th annual Angel Art, the auction supporting Project Angel Food, a Los Angeles-based non-profit dedicated to providing daily meals for people homebound or disabled by HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses. Held in the lobby of CAA in Century City, Angel Art raised $1.1 million for the program -- their highest effort yet -- which translates to 240,000 delivered meals. “This is the best event because it’s such an efficient event,” said Angel Art Committee member Maria Arena Bell, formerly the executive

First, a show of hands: Who won’t miss the way-too-compact Newman ranch?
We certainly won’t, which is why Victor Newman’s new penthouse is a welcome step in the right direction for Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps, as she continues to put her stamp on CBS’ The Young and the Restless. EW obtained this exclusive sneak peek of Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Melody Thomas Scott (the beloved Nikki, who continues to suffer from selective amnesia when it comes to the father of her children) as they first set eyes on their cosmopolitan new “home.”

The Young and the Restless may have found two newcomers who may (finally) help fans forget that Shemar Moore, aka Malcom Winters, ever lived and breathed in Genoa City.

Lamon Archey (pictured left), another model making the transition to the small screen, will play a new dude named Mason. EastEnders
I wish I could have just focused on the story that was playing out in these episodes, but I found myself very distracted by the horrible hairstyles of both Christian and Syed. First of all, John Partridge is a very good looking man, but he’s not 21 anymore and those brassy highlights just don’t work for him. Though, to be fair, they are in Christian’s character to do such a thing.
Still, they come off as an unfortunate attempt to hold on to your youth and such an attractive mature fella as Partridge need not do such things, Imo. Leave these bad hair choices to the twinks and the club kids, shall we? As for Marc Elliot, a trip to the barber is in order for a much needed trim. I usually don’t comment on such things, but like I said,...

The L.A. Complex
It’s no secret that I am tired of coming out stories, but I am really enjoying Kal’s struggle with his sexuality. Maybe because even though it’s riddled with the usual clichés, it’s somewhat different in that it’s being told with a person of color This is a definite rarity and we’re getting a glimpse into the world of rap and how that plays into Kal’s hatred over his sexuality. It helps that Andra Fuller is doing a wonderful job in the role.
I loved his initial scene with the doctor where he saw to it that he didn’t have to leave the hospital and face the world again by confessing his continued suicidal thoughts, but I was disappointed that we didn’t get more interaction with Kal, his doctor and the other people in the hospital.

TV’s most-watched daytime sudser has a new team at the helm. Josh Griffith has been named the new head writer and Jill Farren Phelps is now an executiver producer on The Young and the Restless.
The duo replaces Maria Arena Bell, who became the sudser’s head writer and Ep after the 2007 Writer’s Strike. She crossed the picket line so she could write on the sudser that was created by her father-in-law, William Bell.
On her Facebook page, Bell indicated that she didn’t know why she was told to step down. “I am mystified as are my cast and crew.

Veteran showrunner Paul Rauch has opted to leave 'The Young and the Restless' effective April 1, 2011.
No, this isn't an April Fool's gag. Rauch, who's been sharing the executive-producer duties with Maria Arena Bell since 2008, is leaving to go home to New York.
Rauch, a Daytime Emmy winner, came to Y&R after helming a variety of soaps. His resume includes running 'Another World,' 'One Life to Live,' 'Santa Barbara' and 'Guiding Light.'
The exit is completely amicable. In a statement, Rauch said, "I have had great pleasure working with Y&R's magnificent cast and crew. I feel that I've accomplished everything that I set out to achieve, and it's now time for me to return to New York."

On today’s special stand-alone episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) faced his darkest demons when he was paid a visit from certain characters from his Christmas past. The producers weren’t able to squeeze all the footage into the episode, which included appearances by Victor’s late wife Hope (Signy Coleman) and his other late bride Sabrina (Raya Meddine). So EW is bringing it to you exclusively instead!

Perl suggests that the New Museum engages in censorship by not showing every artist. Like any gallery could do that.

On soaps, every now and then the powers that be -- usually the head writer who's overdosed on Red Bull and jelly beans months before -- comes up with the idea of doing a special episode. They'll focus on a single character and think outside the box. Sometimes they hit the jackpot; sometimes they create a clunker. The Young and the Restless offered a very special New Year's Eve episode yesterday and it was a home run.
Headwriter Maria Arena Bell and her talented team, including Hogan Sheffer, decided to put the character of Billy Abbott under the microscope and, as it turned out, Y&R pulled off a great episode.
It wouldn't have worked nearly as well if not for the riveting performance of actor Billy Miller. He rose to the occasion and this could be an award-winner if it's submitted for the next round of Daytime Emmys. If...

William Russ - who premiered on The Young and the Restless on December 2 - has already been replaced on the soap opera.
Stephen Nichols (best known for his 14-year run on Days of Our Lives) will take over the role of Tucker McCall next month. He first air date is January. Said show producer/head writer Maria Arena Bell of the switch:
“William Russ is a talented actor and we enjoyed working with him. However, we decided to take the character in another direction.”
As for The Young and the Restless spoilers involving Tucker: He'll soon be revealed to have a startling connection to a major resident of Genoa City.

Have our Genoa City gays run out of gas, or get run off the road?
Genoa City has denied a permit for a Gay Pride parade it seems. Or at least that's what a reported quote from Scott Hammer, co-head writer of The Young and The Restless says. Daytime Royalty is reporting that in the latest Soap Opera Weekly the lesser-known writer for Y&R says:
“At this point, we are not doing a gay story, and we never actually were doing a gay story. What we were playing with Rafe was the lengths to which Adam will go to accomplish his goals. And what we were really seeing was that he would stop at nothing. And, at this point, I don't see a future for Rafe and Adam."
Do we need to lower the rainbow flag to half-mast?
Now that’s pretty much a direct contradiction to his partner...
