The month of October is an exciting time of year for kids—and also those of us who still consider ourselves “kids at heart”—and with that in mind, I wanted to put together a collection of fun and festive cocktails that you can serve up at your Halloween gatherings, or just mix up anytime you want to get into the “spirit” of the season over the next few weeks.
Halloween Blood Orange Martini
When Blood Oranges season begins, it’s a big moment in our house, as we’re huge fans of the crisp tartness of this fruit (especially when paired with cranberries), particularly in the fall. With that in mind, I thought these Halloween Blood Orange Martinis (via Culinary Ginger) would be a great drink to serve this month, and while the recipe doesn’t call for it, I feel like adding a few cranberries to this martini...

Ash vs. Evil Dead returns to our screens later this year for a brand new season of Evil Dead-killin’ action. You can expect gore and splatter galore when we catch up with Deadite slayer supreme Ash and his two pals Pablo and Kelly living the high life in Jacksonville. Trading in the Necronomicon for gas money to a life-long spring break seemed like the answer to Ash’s prayers, as the season one finale showed the trio bound for sunny Florida in his clapped-out Oldsmobile.
But this is Ash Williams, the man who re-summoned an ancient evil while trying to impress a woman. It’s not long before the Dead come a’knockin’ and we’ve now got a first look at the sophomore season’s new antagonist Baal, played by Sons of Anarchy alum Joel Tobeck.
According to Starz, Baal is released from the Underworld, which was split open during Ruby’s antics,...

A wolf, a pair of flying monkeys, true love's kiss and a trip home make up this episode of Once Upon a Time, "Ruby Slippers." Flashbacks to Oz detail how Ruby ends up in the Underworld, but by the end of the episode her true love's kiss isn't the only one that's (going to be) needed.
Meanwhile, Ruby's arrival in the Underworld also leads to a chance to go home for one of the Storybrooke residents -- but who makes that journey?...

Sunday’s Quantico simultaneously gave terrorism suspect Alex a tiny sliver of hope — though she doesn’t know it yet — and put her in the most precarious situation we’ve seen so far.
The hour saw Caleb find (and then, at the behest of his father, bury) the first evidence supporting Agent Parrish’s innocence in the Grand Central bombing. And later, realizing that the feds were closing in after last week’s shootout in Queens, Alex tricked an injured Ryan into boarding a helicopter to safety, then walked into FBI Central to turn herself in.

Inspired by old-school electronic music, '80s video games, cartoons and other retro fantasies, Canadian duo Volt 9000 (alias Cory Gorski & Andrew Dobbels ) blend analog post-industrial experimentation with club-worthy beats, pop melodies and moody vocals, sometimes sprinkling the concoction with vintage movie & game samples and glitchy 8-bit accents; the end product is often a nostalgic freestyle for fans of classic gaming, synth sci-fi & horror soundtracks, and '80s & '90s pop culture, and has resonated well with fans of Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly (both of whom have new work out this year, by the way) and other landmark industrial acts. That style served the team well on their first albums Retrogenesis and Atomica, but for their third full-length release Conopoly, which drops tomorrow from Artoffact Records, the band focus their retro-futuristic powers on a much darker theme – namely a creepy near-future dystopia with roots in today's hot-button headlines. The...

Their latest full-length Weapon continues the band's post-millennial focus on troubling social and political issues,...

We’re back with the latest installment of the Indie Spotlight. In today’s feature we have the first two episodes of the Ghost Trek webseries, a trailer for Rites of Passage, a Walking Dead-inspired musical, and much more:
Ghost Trek: The Kinsey Report: “Do you ever watch those ghost hunting shows and scratch your head, thinking to yourself, “These shows are so ridiculous. Why am I watching this?” Well, Ghost Trek creator, Michael Plumides sat through marathon episodes of paranormal reality TV one Christmas and came up with a comic-horror concept called, Ghost Trek, which takes a swipe at the whole genre – with you in mind.
Ghost Trek follows the Paranormal Underworld Detective Society (Puds) as they investigate haunts across the U.S. and abroad between tanning beds, babes, body-building, and bong hits — all the while risking life and limb capturing the undead and unexplained on video.

Aw fuck! I thought that I was finally sane again, that the weird buzzing in my head had finally found somewhere else to drink it’s Yoo-Hoos and break the bottles but no, that couldn’t fucking happen. It’s back, in fuzzy slippers and all, and this time it’s set to drums and electronic shit. Or… maybe it’s the last release from OhGr, entitled Devils In My Details. Alright, so this isn’t a brand new album, but it’s good enough to twist me off into weird fucking places again -it’s good to be back! --and to warrant bringing it to your attention.
Released on November 5th in the Us, Devils In My Details is an eccentric mix of ambient electronic destruction, driving tribal percussion, and swarms of oddly timed moments that feel like the result of weeks of insomniac raving -something I know a fair amount about.

For more than 25 years, Nivek Ogre has pioneered electronic music, pushed the boundaries and has been a direct influence on some of the most cutting-edge rock the world has seen in that time span as the legendary front man for Skinny Puppy. On November 18th, Ogre unleashes his most personal and conceptual work to date, Devils In My Details, under the guise of Ohgr.
This 11-track disc cleverly bounces from a hyper, industrial feel to ambient grittiness, delivering 42 minutes of new maniacal music from the legendary Nivek Ogre and his long time co-conspirer Mark Walk. The disc is filled with a great sense of whimsy and abject terror, separating itself from the proscribed musical formulas abundantly found in this day and age electronic music.
