- 19 november 2014 He announced that he was retiring from driving but would continue to be an ambassador for Audi Racing.
- In August 2014 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog by the Queen of Denmark.
- Holds the record at Le Mans for most podium finishes (14).
