Rockers Jane's Addiction have teamed up with a group of Moroccan world musicians for an exotic new track. Singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins have recorded "End to the Lies" with the legendary The Master Musicians of Joujouka.
The 14 village musicians hail from the Ahl Srif mountain range of the southern Rif Mountains in northern Morocco, they are Sufi trance artists who use reed, pipe and percussion to create drones and complex rhythms. Late The Rolling Stones star Brian Jones recorded them in 1968 for his album "Brian Jones Presents the Pipes of Pan at Joujouka".
Farrell says, "We wanted to add a sense of ancient ritual and some depth beyond normal instrumentation, getting off the typical path that rock bands use." The band took producer Rich Costey and temporary bassist Dave Sitek to Joujouka to record the sounds.

Rocker Perry Farrell insists Jane's Addiction's search for a permanent bass player is far from over - because their latest addition, Dave Sitek, doesn't like touring. The reunited rockers lost original bassist Eric Avery and his replacement Duff McKagan last year and former band member Chris Chaney joined the band for a New Year's Eve concert.
Now former TV on the Radio star Sitek has joined the group as Farrell, Stephen Perkins and Dave Navarro work on a new album - but he's unlikely to be a permanent fix. The frontman tells Rolling Stone, "He's not a guy that likes to go on tours though, so we haven't decided who it will be yet."
And Farrell tells the publication he's still puzzled about why former Guns N' Roses star McKagan quit the group after just three shows and five months. He adds, "I couldn't really tell you what his problem was.

Rockers Jane's Addiction have recruited TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek to replace Duff McKagan following his exit from the band last year. McKagan quit as the group's bassist in September 2010 after just five months and three low-key gigs and now Sitek will take over as the band's third bass player in a year.
He will join Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, and drummer Stephen Perkins in the studio for their fourth album. In a statement, Farrell says, "Dave, Steve and I are fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential."
The forthcoming disc, expected for release in the summer this year, will be the follow up to 2003's "Strays".

Former Guns N' Roses star Duff McKagan has quit Jane's Addiction after just five months and three shows. McKagan stepped in to replace co-founder Eric Avery following his departure from the band in March and he hit the studio with new bandmates Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins to record fresh material for the reunited rockers' first album in seven years.
But the musical union didn't work out and the band has confirmed that McKagan is no longer part of their line-up. A statement from Farrell, Navarro and Perkins reads, "We wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record. We love the songs we worked on with him - and the gigs were a blast - but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best.

This week we need your help to produce the big-screen version of the story of the tired and emotional trader who sent the price of oil to its highest level in eight months
We've all been there. You go for one quiet drink and the next thing you know it's Tuesday morning and you've woken to find it turned into a three-day bender. Your memory is, at best, patchy. But you've checked your phone and don't seem to have left messages for any ex-girlfriends, you still have trousers on, you haven't hijacked your best friend's pregnancy, nor acquired a baby or Mike Tyson's tiger, so you're thinking: phew, got off lightly, haven't mimicked the plot of the latest Jennifer Aniston romcom nor an obnoxious buddy comedy. Result!
Only then do you realise you might have bought 7m barrels of oil.
That is how There Will Be Beer, the story...

Former Guns N' Roses star Duff McKagan has officially joined Jane's Addiction - new photos of the bassist in the studio with his new bandmates have been posted online. Guitarist Dave Navarro has posted a snapshot of McKagan alongside Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins on his Twitter.com blog.
Duff McKagan was linked to the band following original bassist Eric Avery's decision to quit the group earlier this year.
Eric Avery announced his exit from Jane's Addiction on Twitter, writing "That's it. With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane's Addiction experiment is at an end." Later on, Dave Navarro confirmed it on his own page, "Yes, Eric Avery has left the band. More to come but we wish him all the best!"...
