- Rocker and Sunset Strip cultural ambassador Willie Basse is known for his studio parties in North Hollywood where many bands, including Guns N' Roses, LA Guns, Racer-X and Leatherwolf got their start. Willie is also a founding member of Black Sheep, the LA band that has been home to some of rock's greats including Slash (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), James Kottak (Scorpions), Paul Gilbert (Racer-X/Mr. Big), Randy Castillo (Ozzy Osbourne), Mitch Perry (Cher, Edgar Winter, MSG) and JP Cervoni (Buddy Miles).
He is also a recording engineer/producer who recorded several nominated albums for Delta Groove Records and two albums for blues icons Canned Heat as well as their national television commercials for Target.
On-screen, Willie has the distinction of playing a studio engineer in the famous episode of "Friends" where Phoebe Buffay (Played by Lisa Kudrow) went into a studio to record her signature song "Smelly Cat." - From age 10-15 he was a choir boy with the world-famous Texas Boys' Choir (Recipient of two Grammy Awards). Signed to Columbia Artists, they taped a UNICEF television special that aired nationally on the ABC TV Network. With the choir, Willie performed at Carnegie Hall, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Radio City Music Hall, toured and recorded professionally before the age of 16.
