- Infielder (primarily at second base) with the Cincinnati Reds (1913-1914), Philadelphia Phillies (1915-1917), St. Louis Cardinals (1918[start]), and New York Giants (1918[end]).
- Made major league debut on 4 October 1913 (first of 2 games played that season); appeared in final major league game 31 May 1918.
- In 1916 led National League hitters in doubles (42).
- Following his playing career, he was a longtime minor league manager (including two seasons in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League [1943-1944]) and major league scout.
- His playing career ended 31 May 1918 owing to an injury. Playing at second base for the New York Giants, he collided with outfielder Ross Youngs while chasing a pop-fly. His right leg was broken below the knee.
