Director Ron Howard has delivered his latest status report from the set of Lucasfilm’s untitled Han Solo movie.
First spotted by EW, this particular update comes in the form of two all-too-brief set videos, both of which uphold Howard’s knack for secrecy. Since climbing aboard back in June, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has rolled around a steady, yet discreet collection of stills and candid videos to showcase the Millennium Falcon – and, presumably, our first fleeting glimpse of Donald Glover as the young Lando – an army of droids, and potential alien allies.
This time around, though, Howard and his team have relayed new photos from the film’s makeshift junkyard, with one Tweet, in particular, bearing the caption: “Where old speeders go to die.” Indeed, if you’ve been keeping track of the storied production cycle – and given the high-profile firing of erstwhile directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, chances...

After some time spent filming on the sun-kissed Canary Islands, Disney and Lucasfilm’s untitled Han Solo anthology movie has now uprooted for England – specifically the Fawley Power Station in Southeastern England – where production continues in anticipation of that all-important May 2018 release date.
Indeed. Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s galactic origin story has been lensing at the industrial space for nigh on two weeks, and it wasn’t long before eagle-eyed spectators captured photos of both Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo and what appears to be his newfound ride. Today’s haul is cut from a similar cloth, and includes new looks at both Solo’s alleged Speeder and a Scout Trooper on patrol in and around Fawley Power Station. If nothing else, it confirms the Empire’s presence in Disney’s 2018 anthology film, but with precious few plot details currently available, the jury’s still out...

Filming On Disney’s Han Solo Movie Continues In Spain, And Another Set Photo Has Emerged To Prove It
Smuggler? Scoundrel? Hero? However you view the great Han Solo, Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are about to shed light on his galactic origins.
Filming on Disney and Lucasfilm’s 2018 anthology film – the second in this new wave of Star Wars stories after Rogue One – kicked off in earnest back in February and since then, the Internet has been awash with blurry set photos and bootleg recordings of Solo’s new ride. Arguably the one tidbit that has fuelled debate online, though, involves the possible (certain?) inclusion of Corellia, the far-flung home planet of Han Solo.
We’ve already caught a glimpse of set photos featuring a dusty old town – the Canary island of Fuerteventura seems to be doubling as Corellia – and now, Spanish outlet Canarias7 has uncovered the latest picture from the Han Solo set. Seen below, it’s a long shot of what appears to be a desolated junkyard,...

Following some new concept art and a few leaked set pics that provided us with our first look at Alden Ehrenreich in costume as the young Han Solo, the guys over at Making Star Wars have come across a video that gives us a quick glimpse of the iconic character’s “podcar,” which he’ll presumably use to get himself from A to B at some point in the currently shooting Star Wars Anthology film.
The video, seen above, was shot at the Fawley Power Station in Southeastern England and although it doesn’t really reveal anything new about the movie’s plot, an onlooker was also on-hand to provide a bit more context for the scene in question:
Finally made it out to Fawley. Nothing shaking but just spoke to a lady walking her dog…she saw some sort of battle filming plus they were filming some sort of...

With each day that passes, our excitement for Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s in-development Han Solo anthology movie builds just that little bit more.
Last week, for instance, the eagle eyes of TMZ uncovered a fleeting glimpse of Alden Ehrenreich as the young nerf-herder. Kitted out in full costume, Ehrenreich was seen in between takes on the film’s Fuerteventura set – aside from the detail in Han Solo’s costume, there admittedly wasn’t much to look at – but over the weekend, Making Star Wars went one step further to relay a fresh wave of pictures from the Fawley Power Station in Hampshire, England.
Disney has reportedly earmarked the location for a future shoot – likely after filming has wrapped on the Canary Islands – and at least based on these photos, Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s anthology film will pay a visit to Han Solo’s homeworld of Corellia.

The campaign for a new, custom-built headquarters for the National Film and Sound Archive is gaining momentum among a wide section of the screen industry.
Producer Tony Buckley got the ball rolling when he wrote to Arts Minister George Brandis and Nsw Premier Mike Baird urging both governments to fund a new home for the institution, preferably in Sydney. A former council member of the Nfsa and a screen industry practitioner for 60 years, Buckley points out the Nfsa is the only federally-funded arts museum/ archive that has never had a purpose-built home. The initiative is being backed enthusiastically by some heavyweight players in the screen industry.
David Seargeant, CEO of Amalgamated Holdings Ltd., which owns Event Cinemas, Greater Union and Birch, Carroll & Coyle, told Buckley this is .a great initiative which we totally support . even more particularly through our relationship with the Archive and the collection both ourselves and Fox donated.

Buckley welcomes the Archive.s ongoing consultations with industry and public on its draft strategic plan but he calls for a long-term vision that includes a new base, preferably in Sydney.
He suggests the heritage-listed White Bay Power Station as the ideal venue, funded as a Federal/ State initiative with financial support from the screen industry.

Crossing Tmnt with a much-loved board game is a brilliant idea, right? Well, after this, Matt's wife might disagree...
Unpacking the Monopoly box, I started to get a bit excited. Granted, this is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Monopoly, a fair reason to be excited, but it was also because it had been so long since I last played the classic board game Monopoly and I couldn’t wait to get a game going. Monopoly is so fun.
Monopoly have been doing ‘themed’ sets for a while. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is very much the Park Lane of my favourite things, so this was one I was particularly keen to have a look at. It’s based on the current cartoon show from Nickelodeon, which is terrific and comes highly recommended.

Ron sings Teen Wolf's praises once again as it delivers yet another well-directed, well-written episode...
This review contains spoilers.
3.16 Illuminated
When Teen Wolf throws a party, it throws a pretty spectacular party. Given the incredible amount of access Teen Wolf has to MTV's song library, they're pretty judicious about making use of their music-filled playground. When they pick a song for a scene, typically it works; when they pick out a series of songs for a 90s style paint party rave, then they pick the best possible dance and trance music that will fit the scene. For example, this week's Teen Wolf music seems totally appropriate for a party, and when they break from that thumping routine, it makes the viewer sit up and take notice because cinematic-style music cues are more likely to catch attention when they're totally different from everything else you've been hearing.

Nile Rodgers was once a household name thanks to the mainstream success of his iconic disco group Chic and their multi-million-selling smashes "Le Freak" and "Good Times." When disco died, Rodgers didn't go away but simply stepped behind the curtain, helping shape classic albums by everyone from old Madonna to new Daft Punk.
In between, he produced hits for Diana Ross, David Bowie, B-52s, Duran Duran, Carly Simon, Sister Sledge, and the list goes all the way up to Swedish Edm star Avicii's upcoming album. But Rodgers work on Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" album – including its song-of-the-summer "Get Lucky" and just-released follow-up single "Lose Yourself To Dance" – has got the producer's career once again partying like it's 1979.

From the various official Alien videogame adaptations that appeared through the 80s and 90s, to the Gears Of War and Dead Space franchises of the present, James Cameron's film has left a profound impression on game design.
In development for the best part of six years, Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines aims to provide the ultimate fan wish fulfilment: to put the player in the combat shoes of a pulse-rifle toting, xeno-blasting grunt. What's more, Colonial Marines promises to be something more than a quick-buck cash-in; its developers have long talked...

Kraftwerk fans crashed the Tate Modern's website as tickets for a retrospective of their albums in February went on sale on Wednesday.
Electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk are to play eight nights at the gallery, their first UK dates since 2004.
But Tate's website crashed under the demand when booking opened at 07:30.
The German band whose career spans 40 years will perform for eight nights between 6 and 14 February 2013. Each gig will feature one of their eight studio albums in its entirety.

Thankfully, the dependably awesome Muse were on hand to lend the broadcast a little bit of saving grace, performing the wubby "Madness" and propulsive funk rock blast of "Power Station," both from their "it gets better after you listen to it a few times" new album The 2nd Law.

Chicago – In “Delicacy,” the beguiling new film from David and Stéphane Foenkinos, there are moments that beautifully portray the strange effect that love can have on the senses. Two characters spend what appears to be a brief moment together in an office. It’s only upon leaving it that they realize hours have passed by. For fans of charming French rom-coms, this picture may have a similar effect.
The luminous smile that famously graced the face of Audrey Tautou in “Amélie” is replaced by a no less radiant expression of crestfallen heartache. Tautou plays Nathalie, a young woman who loses her great love, François (Pio Marmaï), in a traffic accident. Her stranded heart remains indifferent to the desires of men overwhelmed by her beauty, including her lecherous boss, Charlie (Bruno Todeschini). The Broken Hill City Council is considering five expressions of interest to develop its fledgling film studio complex 12 months after the departure of major production Fury Road.
Earlier this year, the council called for partners to invest, develop, manage and/or operate all or part of the 2.5 hectare Broken Hill Studios. Broken Hill mayor Wincen Cuy said the council was pleased to receive five submissions and a decision would be made after the current Nsw local government elections were completed on September 8.
.We.re at a stage where the tenders have been put in and now we.re just going through the whole process,. Cuy told If Magazine.
The proposed-$10 million Broken Hill Film Studios, built on a former Central Power Station Site, had received about $2.1 million in funding (including about $1 million from the Nsw state government) by early-2011 when it was still working on the assumption that the fourth Mad Max film,...

An agency’s office says a lot about its culture, people and brand. Robin Hicks poked his nose around a few doors in search of the coolest office in adland
As a scruffy journalist who rather enjoys working in modest conditions, I’m quite cynical about the money ad agencies very obviously spunk on making their offices look pretty. Particularly at a time when so many of them are making people redundant.
But since a big problem agencies face is their staff leaving, it makes sense to invest in an environment in which people want to stay.
A cool place to work, I was told last week by the founders of Bohemia, a six month-old media agency that is soon to leave the Stw Group nest to find a home of its own, is a bigger motivator than money or job title. And of course a swanky office offers a...

Hollywood is good at recycling things. After all, you build a giant house or an elaborate prop and you wouldn’t just use it once and toss it, right? This is why they have backlots at studios; they can hoard all their favorite stuff for later use (like the iconic building in the image above) or, failing that, at least use it for the studio tours. Same kind of goes for on-location sets – some places are just too dynamic to use only once, especially when the owner is more than willing to pimp out their place for cash. This circle of life is great when you are working with a generic looking high school or cookie-cutter set but there are the occasional moments when they use a location just a little too iconic for its own good – and like a type-cast actor, you can’t help but to see the location as anything besides what made it...

The Streets have played their final show in London ahead of their last ever show next month. The band headlined the main stage at this year's Freeze Festival at Battersea Power Station yesterday evening (October 29), playing a collection of their most-loved hits. Frontman Mike Skinner used their final show in the UK capital as an opportunity to promote and joke about his new 'favourite' alcoholic beverage Tuaca. Before playing 'The Escapist', Skinner told a packed tent: "I'll tell you a secret, yeah? You can get a gingerbread latte at Costa all year around. Now is the time to drink Tuaca." The rapper then proceeded to swig from a bottle of the vanilla-based liquor to huge cheers from the crowd. Noting that the Freeze Festival promotes winter sports, Skinner joked: "Skiing is for people who are posh. Just like Tuaca!" After (more)...

The Baywatch star was launched skywards in a 'reverse bungee jump', which was filmed recently at London's Battersea Power Station for Cowell's upcoming series Red or Black, hosted by TV presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Why aren't I loving this?
The Royal Wedding: The Next Generation should be right up my alley. I was born for gaudy excess, and I've participated in most of the major over-the-top pop culture "events" in my lifetime. For instance:

I signed up all three members of the school's Arcadia fan club ( the snoots from the Power Station club refused to participate), but when the big day came and we kept expecting throngs to show up ... well, let's just say I ended up holding hands across America with Resusci Annie from health class, and the lunch lady with half a thumb.
In 1997 I solemnly watched the glitz and tears that accompanied the funeral of Princess Diana (if it's possible to be solemn while eating French Onion Sun Chips). I was most concerned about Elton John, who...
