Though news of Matt Lauer's shocking firing from the Today show last Wednesday over "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace" rocked the nation, it's not the first time the NBC morning show has caused plenty of controversy.
From Lauer's testy interviews with Tom Cruise and Kanye West, to cringe-worthy on-air gaffes, let's take a look back at the show's nine most memorable scandals.

Tom Cruise appeared on the Today show in June of 2005 to promote War of the Worlds, but the interview quickly went south when the topic changed to Cruise's Scientologist beliefs. Lauer questioned Cruise about slamming Brooke Shields for promoting medication to deal with postpartum depression, prompting the actor to infamously call the Today show co-anchor "glib."

7 Times Matt Lauer Came Under Fire, From Sexual Harassment Accusations to Ann Curry Ousting (Photos)
Rumors of extramarital affairs dogged Lauer throughout his tenure on “Today,” with tabloid reports linking him to other members of the show, including Natalie Morales. In 2010, NBC News finally responded to the allegations, calling them “completely inaccurate and unfounded” and “reckless and harmful to the Lauer family.” Ann Curry was ousted from “Today” in 2012 as the show was losing ground to ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and after she issued a tearful on-air goodbye Lauer was widely viewed as the reason for her departure. This week Behind Closed Doors with Natalie Morales looks at the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll Elvis Presley and in particular his early career. When Elvis burst on to the music scene he revolutionized what was quite a tame circuit. His overtly sexual dance moves and good looks made him a breath of fresh air compared with the stuffy performers who’d gone before. He also brought a different sort of morality to single life, never being shy about dating lots of different women. He once said about marriage why would he buy a cow when he can get milk through...read more...

Need to catch up? Check out the previous Nashville recap here.
Two kinda unbelievable things happen in this week’s Nashville, and I’m still scratching my head over which is the more egregious.
One is that Juliette loses her damn mind in the time it would take an egg to go from over easy to over medium. And this is no “I’m flawed but lovable” stuff. We’re talking real, possible mental issues that are of a scarier flavor than her usual neuroses and jealousies
The other is that there are Scarlett and Gunnar cosplayers? I shouldn’t be surprised — honestly,...

It looks like Katy Perry is serious about letting go of her long-standing feud with Taylor Swift.
Perry capped off her marathon YouTube livestreaming event, promoting the release of her new album Witness, with an outdoor concert for her fans on Monday, and she made some more steps towards reconciliation.
While singing her single "Swish Swish," which many have speculated was written as a diss track aimed at the 1989 singer, Perry changed a key lyric, thus presenting what appeared to send a more supportive, positive message.
Instead of singing the line "Don't you come for me," in the first verse, Perry sang, "God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl."
