- Denis Cameron was born on October 19, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Denis died on October 6, 2006 in London, England, UK.
- During the Vietnam War he was working in Phnom Penh, April 1975, when Pol Pot 's Khmer Rouge were poised to take the city. He was imprisoned in the French Embassy for a month with fellow journalists Sydney Schanberg and Jon Swain. Their experience was the basis for The Killing Fields (1984) , but Cameron was said to be so disgusted with the portrayal of events that he asked for his 'consultant' credit to be removed from the film.
