HBO and Bill Maher’s production company are seeking to toss out a sexual harassment claim that is part of a lawsuit from a former Real Time with Bill Maher staffer.
“While all of Van Ham’s claims are without merit, her sexual harassment claim fails as a matter of law because (1) it is time barred, and (2) she does not plead facts sufficient to constitute a cause of action because she had failed to allege conduct that was both ‘because of’ her sex and also so ‘severe or pervasive’ that it altered the conditions of her employment,” states the defendants’ November 30 filed Demurrer without Motion to Strike to First Amended Complaint (read it here). “Accordingly, Defendants’ Demurrer should be sustained in full and without leave to amend,” the paperwork from Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp’s Adam Levin and Sandra Hanian adds.

Abby Wambach is uncovering more than you – or the legendary athlete herself – ever knew about soccer – or football as the rest of the world calls it – in “Abby’s Places” on ESPN+.
The first episode form Part 2 of the two-time gold medalist and member of the 2015 Women’s World Cup-winning U.S. team’s series dropped on Wednesday. The delightful program finds the soccer star doing a deep dive into the history of the game. And that includes learning about its head-splitting medieval roots.
“The things that I’ve learned about soccer/football are innumerable,” Wambach told TheWrap. “I mean, I pretend to be this expert, but like so many of the things that I showcase on my show is in fact stuff that I had learned in the process of prepping for these episodes.”

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2021, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV, Stv and the ITV hub this evening from the Etihad Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £13,014,769 so far for Unicef’s vital work keeping children around the world, happy, healthy and able to play.
Robbie Williams, Usain Bolt, David Beckham
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (Ciff) who matched all public donations up to £6.3 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed all previous records for money raised on the night.

Discovery+ has ordered three more one-hour episodes of the former one-off special, “Luda Can’t Cook,” TheWrap has learned.
The original one-hour special saw rapper, actor and restauranteur Chris “Ludacris” Bridges get schooled in international cuisine. Future specials will explore a variety of flavors and cooking techniques from across the globe. “Luda Can’t Cook” is produced for Discovery+ by executive producers Packer and Kelly Smith from Will Packer Media and Matt Kelly and Mike Sorensen from Anomaly Entertainment.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2020 has, thanks to the generosity of ITV viewers, raised a record £11,552,577 – the most the match has ever raised in the history of the show, which was broadcast exclusively live on ITV and Stv.
For the first time in the match’s history, donations were matched by both the UK government and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, meaning every £1 donated becomes £3 – up to £3 million – until Tuesday 6th October 2020.
This year’s teams of celebrities and former professional footballers played for ‘Generation Covid’, and the money raised will help Unicef stop the spread of coronavirus and limit the impact on children’s lives around the world.
The match, which was played behind-closed-doors at Manchester United Fc’s Old Trafford, ended 1-1 and so went to penalties. The game marked a return to the North West following last year’s game at Chelsea Fc’s Stamford Bridge.

Fox Television Stations has ordered the weekly entertainment news magazine “Central Ave,” which hails from prolific film and TV producer Will Packer and Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury.
Debmar-Mercury and Will Packer Media will produce two half-hour shows per week of “Central Ave,” which tackles pop culture and other topics from a “socially conscious and diverse lens,” per Debmar. The show is hosted by former Bet personality Julissa Bermudez and Olympic track star Sanya Richards-Ross.

Fox Corp.’s TV station division is bringing back Central Ave, a show from Debmar-Mercury and Will Packer, the film and TV producer known for hits like Girls Trip, saying it fared well in a test last November.
The Atlanta-based show aims to deliver entertainment and pop culture news through a provocative, socially conscious and diverse lens. Beginning in September, it will air weekly, with two half-hour episodes that stations will be able to air together as a full hour on the weekends. The test run positioned Central Ave as a weekday strip, but the new plan is to give it more room to stand out on the weekend.
The announcement came on the eve of Natpe in Miami, which runs January 21 to 23.
“We knew from the minute Central Ave debuted that it is a winner and our partners at Fox agreed,” Debmar-Mercury Co-Presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said.

Will Packer made his reputation with such movies as “Girls Trip” but he’s moved into TV.
“We are content creators and I don’t want to be limited to one particular medium,” says Packer of his recent efforts in television.
LeVar Burton, an executive producer on History’s 2016 “Roots,” says he was impressed when he first met Packer, who also came aboard the miniseries as an executive producer.
“Will’s genuine expertise is his finger is on the pulse of the people,” Burton says. “Without question, community outreach was a critical part of our strategy of engagement, of finding an audience, of delivering an audience to the miniseries and Will’s knowledge and expertise and contacts in that regard were enormously valuable.”
Barry Jossen, executive vice president of A&E Studios, which produced the “Roots” remake, says Packer brought a voice of authenticity to the project. Jossen also recalls it...
