Christopher Nolan’s 2023 blockbuster and critical darling Oppenheimer has equally lived up to an astounding fandom and engrossing buzz. Of course, the association of Nolan’s name is more than enough, but the star-studded Oppenheimer cast also dominated the spotlight equally.

Former White House physician and current House Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) left the West Wing in 2019 amid a fog of allegations of inappropriate workplace conduct and alcohol abuse while on the job. Since his departure, he’s claimed the rank of a retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral in his public statements, but according to a report from The Washington Post, Jackson was quietly demoted in 2022 to the rank of Captain after the release of a scathing report on his behavior by the Pentagon’s inspector general.

Queen Camilla continued to follow in her late mother-in-law’s footsteps as she hosted a 100th-anniversary celebration for the Poppy Factory on February 15. Camilla met with employees, supporters, veterans, and their family members at Clarence House in Richmond upon Thames. During the event, the 76-year-old cut whipped out a 3-foot sword for a very “royal family” reason.

The “presumed human remains” of the passengers aboard the Titan submersible have been recovered.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Coast Guard announced that crews recovered the remains while searching through the wreckage.
Per a news release from the Coast Guard, medical professionals will conduct a “formal analysis” of the “presumed human remains” that have been carefully recovered within the wreckage at the site of the incident.
Additionally, the Marine Board of Investigation (Mbi) intends to transport the evidence aboard a U.S. Coast Guard cutter to a port in the United States, where the Mbi will be able to facilitate further analysis and testing.
While an investigation is ongoing, Mbi Chair Captain Jason Neubauer says the evidence uncovered from the submersible’s wreck will “provide investigators from several international jurisdictions with critical insights into the cause of this tragedy.”

Did The Simpsons “predict” the OceanGate Titanic submersible tragedy?
The animated series has been surprisingly prophetic when it comes to past historical events, from the global pandemic and “invasion” of murder hornets to the election of President Donald Trump and Lady Gaga’s high-flying Super Bowl performance. It appears the show may have also “predicted” the disappearance of the OceanGate submersible, which lost contact Sunday while descending to the site of the Titanic wreckage with five on board.
Amid news of the OceanGate tragedy, a 2006 episode of The Simpsons, titled “Homer’s Paternity Coot,” resurfaced on social media, presenting striking similarities to current events. In the episode, Homer Simpson embarks on a deep-sea expedition to search for long-lost treasure with his biological father in tiny submersibles. After searching for a while, they come across an abandoned ship site that’s filled with treasure.

“Titanic” director and deep sea explorer James Cameron is opening up about when he first learned that the Titan tourist submersible had likely imploded, days before debris was discovered.
On Thursday, Rear Admiral John Mauger, the commander of the U.S. Coast Guard who led the search and rescue operation, announced that all aboard the vessel — owned by OceanGate Expeditions — were presumed “dead” following a “catastrophic implosion” and the discovery of debris.
Cameron, meanwhile, spoke with CNN’s Anderson Cooper Thursday, and said he’d learned on Monday that the submersible had likely imploded, and that the five passengers had likely been killed.
“I’ve been living with it for a few days now, as [have] some of my other colleagues in the deep submergence community,” Cameron, 68, shared.

New York, June 23 (Ians) OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, one of the five passengers killed after an “instantaneous implosion” of the Titan submersible tour to the Titanic, once said that he has “broken some rules” to make the deep-sea submarine.
In comments to Mexican travel vlogger Alan Estrada in 2021, Rush evoked US General Douglas MacArthur as saying, “You’re remembered for the rules you break.”
“I’ve broken some rules to make this (Titan). I think I’ve broken them with logic and good engineering behind me,” Rush was quoted as saying in the video that has now surfaced on social media after the tragedy.
Rush said that deep-sea submersibles “as a rule” should not be made with carbon fibre and titanium but he did anyway, reports Fox Business.

Prior to the ill-fated expedition of the Titan tourist submersible over the weekend, 19-year-old Suleman Dawood was fearful about the excursion — according to his aunt, Azmeh Dawood.
Azmeh sat down for an interview with NBC News on Thursday, and revealed that her nephew — who was on board the vessel alongside his father, businessman Shahzada Dawood — had expressed that he was “terrified” of going on the dive, meant to explore the wreckage of the Titanic, and “wasn’t very up for it.”
However, Suleman eventually agreed to go on the trip with his dad, as the dive was meant to take place on Father’s Day, and he wanted to support his dad on the adventure.

The debris field found near the Titanic wreckage has been confirmed to belong to OceanGate’s Titan Submarine. “The debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the pressure chamber,” Rear Admiral John Mauger told the press. “Upon this determination, we immediately notified the families. On behalf of the United States Coast Guard and the entire unified command, I offer my deepest condolences to the families. I can only imagine what this has been like for them, and I hope that this discovery provides some solace during this difficult time.” OceanGate, the company in charge of the expedition, has also stated that the five passengers onboard are dead. A statement from the company reads, in part, “We now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost.” See it in full below. James Cameron is speaking out on the tragic Titan submersible voyage.
The Oscar winner and avid underwater adventurer told ABC News that after participating in over 33 dives, he is well-acquainted with the dangers of deep-sea exploration.
“I’m struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship, and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field on a moonless night. And many people died as a result, and for a very similar tragedy, where warnings went unheeded, to take place at the same exact site, with all the diving that’s going on all around the world, I think it’s just astonishing,” Cameron said. “It’s really quite surreal, and of course, Ph [Paul-Henry Nargeolet], the French legendary submersible dive pilot, is a friend of mine. The Titan submersible implosion was heard by a top secret U.S. Navy acoustic detection system, officials told the Wall Street Journal. The system, designed to detect enemy submarines, first heard the sub implosion hours after the craft began its journey, per the report.
“The U.S. Navy conducted an analysis of acoustic data and detected an anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion in the general vicinity of where the Titan submersible was operating when communications were lost,” a senior U.S. Navy official said in a statement to The Wall Street Journal.

Updated with latest: The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed at a news conference today that “a debris field was discovered within the search area by an Rov near the Titanic” is, in fact, from the Titan submersible. The five people aboard are feared dead after what one official termed as a debris field consistent with a “catastrophic implosion.”
The Coast Guard briefing was led by Rear Adm. John Mauger, who offered his deepest condolences to the families. Mauger also offered the following details: The first piece of wreckage identified was the tail cone of the Titan. It was discovered 1600 feet from the bow of the titanic. The Rov subsequently found the front end barrel of the pressure hull.
“The debris is consistent with catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber,” he added.

Actors John Wayne and Kirk Douglas had their fair share of disagreements over the course of their careers. However, that didn’t stop them from working together a few times. They represented entirely different political ideologies, which caused many of their fans to believe that they must have hated one another. Douglas once spoke about the respect that he had for Wayne, which was reciprocated by the Western movie star.

Maybe the Osp should be more focused like Rear Admiral Gordon.
The naval officer at the heart of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 6 didn't let day-to-day concerns stand in the way of a good obsession.
This time out, viewers got an adventure essentially free from the team's piddly personal issues.
As became apparent as Sam and Callen wandered through his home, Gordon had dedicated his life to all things maritime.
And while solving the mystery of his abduction, the squad got to enjoy an actual adventure without any real-world consequences. While Gordon initially seemed at risk, by the end, it was evident that his abductors had bitten off more than they could handle in the rear admiral.
At first, it seemed like business as usual, with the Osp racing to keep cutting-edge naval technology out of the hands of a hostile power.
That led to the social-media personality's red herring,...

In the third episode of the third season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," called "Mining the Mind's Mines," the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos has been tasked with rescuing a team of geologists from a planet populated by silicon-based life forms called the Scrubble. Commander Ransom (Jerry O'Connell) bemoans the fact that Federation scientists often play fast-and-loose with safety, and it's always Starfleet who has to come clean up their research missions when they go afoul.
On the Scrubble planet, mysterious glowing crystal orbs read a victim's thoughts, briefly manifest their deepest desires in the real world, and then turn their victims into statues. Throughout the episode, characters will have to come up with quick, embarrassed excuses when some of their deepest desires appear in front of their peers. Ensign Mariner (Tawney Newsome), for instance, can't help but reveal that she's developed feelings for her Andorian co-worker Jennifer.
