In May 2003 she was installed as Chancellor of Trent University
(Peterborough, Ontario, Canada).
On January 22, 1992 she became the first Canadian woman astronaut
aboard space shuttle Discovery on mission STS-42. She was also the
first neurologist in space.
She is a skilled photographer.
She was NASA's head of space medicine.
She is in favor of returning to the moon and setting up labs there, before planning a voyage to Mars.
