James L. "Jimmy" Hicks was a member of the black press from 1935 to 1977. Hicks' most recognizable works were his stories that covered school integration in Little Rock, Arkansas; Oxford, Mississippi; and his coverage of the Emmett Till murder trial in Sumner, Mississippi.
