After pioneering feature length computer animated features with "Toy Story," Pixar Animation became the gold standard for the medium. But it wasn't just because of the innovative animation style providing a new palette for storytelling. Like the many Walt Disney Animation movies that came in the decades before Pixar rose to prominence, the filmmakers at Pixar had a knack for finding the perfect voices for their characters. Whether it was Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear or Patton Oswalt as Remy in "Ratatoiulle," Pixar has always let the perfect voices shine in their work, even if they don't come from the biggest stars. That's especially true with "Inside Out."
In "Inside Out," a stellar ensemble came together to voice the core emotions inside the mind of an 11-year old girl named Riley. Amy Poehler delivered boundless exuberance and enthusiasm as Joy, Phyllis Smith brought an adorable melancholy to Sadness,...

Even CEOs have the desire to do things other than drive the company. And when you are in the gaming industry, these desires are obvious. Helldivers 2 is a captivating game, and one desire of the head of the developer behind it was tickled by a Helldiver. He too wants to play a game but it’s not what he and his team created.
Helldivers 2 was caught in the crossfire as Sony and fans clashed over the PlayStation maker’s decision to mandate Psn and Steam account linking to continue to play the game. However, just a couple of days ago, Sony poured water on the raging fire as it reversed its decision.

When you hear the name Seth MacFarlane, you’ll probably know that you’re in for some borderline humor that does hit the spot but not always in the way you’d expect. MacFarlane is funny, which cannot be denied, but his humor has been divisive from the very beginning. Whether it’s Ted, his Oscar hosting gig, or his most famous work, the adult animated series Family Guy, MacFarlane certainly knows how to draw attention to himself. The latter series has, despite all the praise directed at it, often been criticized for its humor and how it tends to take things too far, especially when sensitive social issues are concerned.
Now, this report isn’t about MacFarlane directly, but it is about another Family Guy character, the paraplegic macho police officer Joe Swanson, who is voiced by one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces and voices, Patrick Warburton. The...

When it comes to complex and challenging roles that require submitting oneself fully to the process, few actors can claim to have achieved what Tom Hanks has. The two-time Oscar winner is synonymous with some of the most iconic characters in films like Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, Cast Away, and many more that have showcased his prowess as a performer.

Hanks is also famously known for voicing the iconic cowboy toy, Woody, in Pixar’s animated masterpiece Toy Story, a franchise that pioneered a whole new revolution in Hollywood. In great news for fans of Baby Yoda, Buzz and Woody, and Disney princesses (as well as Disney shareholders), Disney announced a blockbuster slate of films set for release in 2026.
First up, on May 22, 2026, is “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” a feature expansion of the Emmy Award-winning “The Mandalorian” series that introduced the world to Baby Yoda. No word yet on whether star Pedro Pascal will appear as the title character as he’s done in the streaming series. Jon Favreau is aboard as director.
Next, on June 19, 2026, is “Toy Story 5.” Little is also known about that project but Disney boss Bob Iger revealed in 2023 that another installment of the Oscar-winning franchise was en route.
Finally, on July 10, 2026, Disney will release a live-action version of “Moana” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This is not to be confused with an animated “Moana” sequel that Disney has set for release later this year.

Woody and Buzz have a date to return to theaters. Disney will release Pixar’s Toy Story 5 on June 19, 2026, the studio announced Friday.
Disney CEO Bob Iger first announced Toy Story 5 in February 2023, with the sequel an attempt to return to form for the franchise after the disappointing performance of the 2022 spinoff, Lightyear, which voice starred Chris Evans. Toy Story has spanned four mainline films dating back to 1995, with the most recent installment topping $1 billion at the box office in 2019. The features have voice starred Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear.
Toy Story 5‘s date with theaters was among a slew of changes and additions made to the Disney release calendar. The studio also pushing Dwayne Johnson’s live-action remake of Moana by a year to July 10, 2026 (it was previously slated for from June 27, 2025). It's astonishing to look back at John Lasseter's 1995 film "Toy Story" and regard how rudimentary it looks by today's standards. "Toy Story" was the first widely distributed CGI-animated feature film, and it felt overwhelmingly revolutionary at the time. Many were astonished at how expressive and fun CGI characters could be, and the film's success effectively ushered in a sea change in the animation world. In 2024, traditional cel animation is incredibly uncommon, and CGI is the naturally assumed standard.
CGI characters are designed to essentially be "puppets," in terms of their elasticity. Animators, at least at the time, were forced to stay on-model, only able to expand eyeballs or raise eyebrows so high. It wouldn't be for years that CG characters could mutate, squash, and stretch the way hand-drawn characters could. "Toy Story" benefitted from being about, well, toys. Its characters were all made of plastic, so there was an...

Tim Allen is one step closer to returning to ABC for a third time. The Alphabet net has given a pilot order to his latest sitcom, “Shifting Gears,” from 20th Television. Allen is on board to star and executive produce the multi-cam sitcom pilot — which is still a working title — which will also be written and executive produced by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully.
In the project, Allen plays Matt, the “stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”
Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker and Rick Messina are the non-writing exec producers on the show.
“Shifting Gears” continues Allen’s long association with ABC and Disney, including the long-running hit (1991-1997) “Home Improvement.” Allen later starred on ABC’s “Last Man Standing,” which aired on the Alphabet web from 2011 to...

Tim Allen, the beloved voice behind Buzz Lightyear and Santa Clause veteran, has been accused of being “so fucking rude” during the making of the Disney+ series The Santa Clauses by former co-star Casey Wilson.
On a recent episode of the Bitch Sesh podcast, Wilson reportedly opened up about her experience on set with Allen while filming the spinoff, during which she guest-starred in the pilot episode.
“Tim Allen was such a bitch. It was the truly single worst experience I’ve ever had with a co-star ever,” Wilson said.

Before the Thanksgiving break in the United States, Tim Allen said Disney contacted him and Tom Hanks about reprising their iconic Toy Story roles for a fifth film in the franchise. According to Allen, “one of the creators of the original series” is in charge of the new script. Allen says Bob Iger is enthusiastic about making another Toy Story sequel, and smoke on the street implies a seasoned writer is in charge of penning the screenplay. With Disney planning two Frozen sequels, it’s easy to believe they’re going back to the toy box for Toy Story 5. Still, what does a fifth film in the beloved franchise look like? Tim Allen says he has an idea involving bringing Andy, Woody and Buzz Lightyear’s original owner, back to the series.

Lisa checks into a sleep clinic, Danny babysits a dog, and a bombshell is dropped about someone's relationship that I never saw coming on Still Up Season 1 Episode 4.
We'll start at the sleep clinic since it is the title of this installment.
Lisa checks herself in, and you can feel the wave of relief that rolls off Veggie. Living with someone who is up all night all the time can't be much fun.
Although Lisa's inability to take the sleep study seriously is comical, it actually hurts to know that Veggie is out there hoping that this will bring them both some relief.
Little does he know that Lisa can't even put her phone away for one night.
This makes me wonder, does Lisa really want to find a cure for her insomnia? In some ways, her insomnia gives her an excuse to live a whole other life after Veggie...

There’s a whole roster of actors that went through the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. Some of them became worldwide-known stars thanks to their MCU roles. One of them is Chris Evans, who rose to fame thanks to the role of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, which he played between 2011 and 2019. It’s not that Evans wasn’t known before he played Captain America, but if you show Evans’ picture to anyone and ask them to guess who he is, a good amount of people will tell you: “That’s the guy that played Captain America.”
Evans started his career in the early 2000s by starring in teen movies. How do you solve a problem like Chevy Chase? Throughout his lengthy career, the actor has had a long, troubled history of acting like a jerk to nearly everyone he's worked with, from the infamous backstage fight he had with Bill Murray upon leaving Saturday Night Live to his much-publicized feud with showrunner Dan Harmon while co-starring on the beloved NBC sitcom "Community." By many accounts, the star is, at best, annoying to work with, and, at worst, an insufferable jerk.
That behavior would seem to be the end-all, be-all explanation for why Chase's film career eventually floundered despite having a pretty strong start. Yet, like most things, that isn't the whole story: for one, Chase is an incredibly talented actor and comedian, despite his personal shortcomings. For another, his persona being what it is — this is the man who made a splash announcing himself on SNL as "I'm Chevy Chase,...

When you ask someone about their favorite Pixar film, the answer usually says less about the movie than it does about the person. The legendary animation studio has remained at the top of its game for years because of how its films use their big high-concept ideas to explore fundamental truths. A comedy about talking toys becomes a story about friendship and growing up; a kid’s movie about fish becomes an emotional tale of fatherhood; a film about a rat that likes to cook becomes a sneakily profound story about the nature of art and inspiration. The movies become very personal to each viewer, especially for those who’ve grown up with Pixar’s work and have seen its releases serve as milestones in their lives.
That said, even the biggest Pixar fan alive could probably admit that the studio has been going through a (more than) slight rough...

With Elemental, Pixar’s infrastructure drama is here at last. Yes, there’s a Romeo and Juliet-inspired love story, a tale as old as time of immigrants fighting to sustain their hard-won stability, and a parable about accepting and celebrating human—or rather, atomic—differences packed into the film. But Elemental’s plot is really driven by a buddy quest to follow the pipes and repair the leak responsible for causing increasingly frequent flooding in Fire Town, on the outskirts of Elemental City, a metropolis inhabited by the natural elements. But it’s not in Elemental’s best interests that its characters—and thus, its basic concept—are so difficult to describe, though in the end that’s the least of its problems. On the occasion of its release, here’s a ranking of every Pixar feature. Dan Rubins

San Francisco, June 4 (Ians) The director and producer of ‘Lightyear’, the Chris Evans-headlined ‘Toy Story’ spinoff film, are among those affected in the recent job cuts at Walt Disney’s Pixar Animation Studio, reports ‘Deadline’.
Director Angus MacLane and Producer Galyn Susman were among the 7,000 layoffs Disney had planned in late May.
Their film based on the ‘Toy Story’ character of Buzz Lightyear, attracted bans in several Islamic countries due to a scene featuring a same-sex kiss between Uzo Aduba’s female character Alisha Hawthorne and her partner Kiko, and caused a net loss of $106 million to the studio despite positive reviews, according to ‘Deadline’.
MacLane, a 26-year animator, was part of the senior creative team of ‘Coco’, ‘Incredibles 2’ and ‘Toy Story 4’, and Susman had been at the studio since the original Toy Story was released in 1995. The two were among the 75 employees laid off by Pixar.

Among the layoffs that took place at the Walt Disney Company were job cuts at Pixar that included the director and producer of Lightyear, Deadline has confirmed.
Director Angus MacLane, a 26-year animator who was part of the Senior Creative Team in animated films like Coco, Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4, was cut from the studio in late May, which was part of the 7,000 layoffs Disney had planned. There was a total of 75 jobs that were made redundant on May 23, Reuters first reported. It’s worth noting that cuts at the animation studio are rare and the last time it happened was in 2013 when The Good Dinosaur was delayed. At the time, 5% of Pixar’s 1,200 workforce was cut, including director Bob Peterson.

Tim Allen, born Timothy Alan Dick on June 13, 1953, Allen is an actor and comedian known for his roles in television shows and films such as Home Improvement, and for voicing Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise. The series gently poked fun at society’s preoccupation with machismo, power tools, and the quest to impress women. His comedic style, rooted in traditional verbal humor, seamlessly merged with a penchant for exaggerated physical comedy, setting him apart from his contemporaries in the world of comedy and acting. This unique blend of comedic approaches not only distinguished Tim Allen but also...

Once upon a time being a nerd was looked at as a negative, with depictions of them being scrawny losers with glasses and high pitched voices who loved comic books and wouldn’t know how to throw a baseball unless Captain America taught them how. But something happened. Geek culture became mainstream culture and the people who brought it to us were the ones who once felt so alienated by their seemingly uncool passions. Enter Joss Whedon who used his childhood isolations to craft some of the biggest cult hit TV shows and penned many groundbreaking screenplays – everything from sci-fi to horror to action adventure to animation to Shakespeare and some of the biggest superhero flicks ever. But behind closed doors there seemed to be a different tale, a story of a man so consumed with ego that he made everyone else tremble in terror around him. It would seem...

Tom Hanks’ role as Woody in the popular Toy Story series is one of his most memorable characters. But his contributions towards the franchise go beyond just lending his voice.
If it wasn’t for Hanks, the rest of Toy Story might have been straight-to-dvd status.

Hanks had a good feeling about the concept of Toy Story when he was first presented with the idea. The movie would be animated by Pixar, a studio which has delivered several highly praised animated blockbusters since its inception. But at the time, Hanks had never seen or heard anything like what Pixar was attempting to do with Toy Story. And that was what attracted him to the film even more.
“There were two things about it. One: it was like, ‘I’m not sure what this is,'” he told BBC Radio 1.

One of the most crushing disappointments any studio faced at the box office last year came from Disney in the form of "Lightyear." The unique "Toy Story" spin-off, which focused on the "real" Buzz Lightyear, telling a grounded, sci-fi tale in space, was Pixar's big return to theaters following two years of streaming releases due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, it was a massive misfire, with director Angus MacLane's film taking in just $226 million worldwide against a hefty $200 million production budget. So, what went wrong?
Pete Docter, the director of "Up" and the Chief Creative Officer at Pixar, recently opened up about the situation in an interview with The Wrap. So far as he (and seemingly the rest of the studio) sees it, the movie merely asked too much from the audience, while also suffering from a disconnect related to expectations.

Although Pixar’s Buzz Lightyear movie received fairly positive reviews, it had trouble finding an audience, and it became one of Pixar’s few box-office bombs. Lightyear only grossed $226 million worldwide, which isn’t great when you consider the film’s $200 million price tag. While speaking with The Wrap, Pixar Animation Studio’s Cco Pete Docter reflected on what happened to Lightyear.
“We’ve done a lot of soul-searching about that because we all love the movie,” Peter Docter said. “We love the characters and the premise. I think probably what we’ve ended on in terms of what went wrong is that we asked too much of the audience. When they hear Buzz, they’re like, great, where’s Mr. Potato Head and Woody and Rex? Toy Story 4 grossed a cool 1 billion during the summer of 2019. This was achieved after a nearly decade-long hiatus following the previous film in the Buzz and Woody franchise, Toy Story 3 (2010), which also earned 1 billion. The lack of box office fall-off between installments was remarkable. So this week’s news from rechristened Disney CEO Bob Iger wasn’t exactly a shock: Toy Story 5 is on the way. Apparently with both Tom Hanks’ Woody and Tim Allen’s Buzz Lightyear, if Allen’s social media posts are anything to go by. Still…

The Buzz turns out to be true. Pixar and Disney are bringing out Toy Story 5, returning Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the new film.
The announcement follows last year’s release of Lightyear, which saw Chris Evans voice the character. The film, billed as the animated character’s origin story, was generally considered a bust, and Allen’s absence was felt. He had been voicing Buzz Lightyear since the 1995 debut of the franchise.
Actress Patricia Heaton summed up the general feeling on Twitter, “Disney/Pixar made a Huge mistake in not casting my pal Tim Allen. Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns. Tim Is Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?”
But all is apparently forgiven, and Allen posted an excited tweet on his return.
See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity.

Tim Allen is set to go to infinity and beyond as Buzz Lightyear once again in the recently announced Toy Story 5.
“See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity,” Allen wrote on Twitter, just hours after Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Toy Story and Frozen sequels were in the works. “And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”
The character of Andy’s Buzz Lightyear toy debuted in the 1995 original Toy Story film. Allen has voiced the role in all four mainline films, as well as the 2000 spinoff Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins. Toy Story 4 arrived in 2019.
