‘Rennervations': Jeremy Renner ‘Did Not Want the Spotlight on Him,’ Best Friend and Co-Producer Says
When Rory Millikin first met Jeremy Renner a few years ago, he had no idea who the “Avengers” star was. Millikin was raving about Denis Villeneuve’s “Arrival,” and when Renner explained he one of the main actors, Millikin insisted, “Nope, that wasn’t you.”
Millikin told TheWrap that Renner was amused instead of offended and said, “Either we’re never going to see each other again or we’re going to be best friends.” The two did end up becoming best friends and now co-star and co-produce “Rennervations” on Disney+.
In the heartwarming docuseries, the two men team up with a crew of builders and various charitable organizations to transform decommissioned vehicles like buses and fire engines into mobile music studios, a water filtration unit and more, aided by international stars including Vanessa Hudgens, Anthony Mackie and Indian actor Anil Kapoor.

While it’s easy to assume that Jeremy Renner would likely want to get rid of the massive snowplow that crushed him back in January, leaving him with more than 30 broken bones and several surgeries, it turns out that the actor has other plans in mind — to keep the 14,000-plus-pound machine.
“My mom wants to … light it on fire — and it would be a whole party, lighting it on fire,” he told Jimmy Kimmel, who served as the moderator during a Q&a session after Tuesday night’s premiere of his Disney+ series “Rennervations”.
“But no, that thing’s amazing,” he continued, revealing his intentions to keep the snowplow. “I love this thing.”

Four months after his horrific snowplow accident in Nevada, Jeremy Renner walked the red carpet on Tuesday night in Los Angeles for the premiere of his new Disney+ show Rennervations.
Renner, who was joined at the event by show co-host Rory Millikin, showrunner Patrick Costello, executive producer Romilda de Luca and build crew member Roxy Molohon, walked the carpet with a cane in hand and posed for photos alongside his family.
“From the personal challenges — physical, emotional, health, all of that — it’s come hand-in-hand with the show because the show is also very, very, very personal to me, it’s my life,” Renner told The Hollywood Reporter on the carpet. “There’s no character, there’s no script. This is just cameras investigating what I do for a living in my life.”

Jeremy Renner made his first red carpet appearance since the snowplow accident for the April 11 premiere of Rennervations.
The Disney+ series, which premieres April 12, follows the actor giving back to communities around the world as he Renner-vates trucks and buses from his massive, Nevada-based fleet of buses, firetrucks and tractor trailers into unique, purpose-filled vehicles.
Hundreds and hundreds of people attended the Westwood, CA. premiere, including Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment Co-Chairmen Dana Walden. Before the premiere, the Hawkeye star walked the red carpet with a cane and chatted with reporters, who were told to avoid questions about Renner’s health.
“Working on this show is not work, it’s always a lot of fun, good laughter and really good causes. It really actually moves the needle a lot for people and it certainly moves the needle a lot for me in my life,” he told Deadline.

As a college student in the 2000s, I often found myself getting sucked into MTV’s Pimp My Ride. I couldn’t help it. Not only was it on all the damn time, it had its feel-good formula down to a science: Xzibit’s boundless enthusiasm plus extravagant car modifications plus deserving participants made for a mood boost I generally found irresistible, whether I’d been looking for one or not. Still, when word got around that the experience hadn’t been all it was cracked up to be behind the scenes — that some of the heartwarming personal stories had been demeaning exaggerations, and that the upgrades were often barely functional — it came as little surprise. This was Hollywood. Of course it had all been for show.
I thought of Pimp My Ride often as I made my way through Rennervations, which likewise combines cheery sentiment and insanely tricked-out vehicles...

“Considering all the injuries I have, I’m just glad I can still do what I’m good at.”
This line is not spoken by Jeremy Renner, but it’s still the sentiment that hangs over “Rennervations,” the four-part docuseries streaming this Wednesday on Disney+. After a Jan. 1 snow plow accident outside his Reno, Nevada home left Renner with life-threatening injuries, the show’s Tuesday premiere will mark his first public, in-person appearance since. “Rennervations” is designed to be a feel-good show, following the actor as he restores retired vehicles for use by youth-focused charities. But offscreen events have conspired to give its predictable triumphs — assignment, engineering, execution, delivery — an added dimension.
Renner is almost as well-known for his various side hustles as his on-screen Avenging. He’s a musician who released an EP in the early days of lockdown; the creator and namesake of the short-lived, widely memed Jeremy...
