The 2023 Emmy nominations are here. The slate of nominees include "Succession" (which aired its final season this spring), "Ted Lasso" (which also just wrapped up its last season), "Yellowjackets," and many more. And while there are some long-deserved Emmy nominations we're very excited about, there are also a lot of nominations that didn't happen, leaving viewers and fans surprised at these major misses. Ahead, these are the biggest snubs of the 2023 Emmy nominations.
Emmys Snub: The Cast of "House of the Dragon"
"House of the Dragon," the "Game of Thrones" prequel series that won fans' hearts last fall, was nominated for nine awards. None of them were for acting, despite a very strong ensemble. Most egregious in our eyes is the exclusion of Emma D'Arcy's leading performance as Rhaenyra Targaryen. D'Arcy's portrayal of the heir in an impossible position is full of nuance, pain, and tenderness. And if...

Brad Pitt visited the Formula 1 racecar drivers at the Silverstone race track in England on Sunday to film his new movie, Apex.
F1 shared Pitt’s visit on Instagram and posted a series of photos while the Academy Award winner was with them. In the images, Pitt is snapped with his costar Damson Idris, both wearing white fire suits and serious expressions.
The film will follow Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, as a veteran racecar driver who returns to the racetracks with his teammate, Joshua Pearce, who Idris will play.
Producers have reportedly recruited British driver Lewis Hamilton for his advice and to help give a more realistic quality to the film.
“It’s to make sure that it’s authentic and that all of you and racing fans see its authenticity and say this is believable,” Hamilton said.

Being made in collaboration with F1, the pic also stars Damson Idris and Kerry Condon, and sources confirm that not only will the actors be filming scenes during the actual race, they will have their own pit stop at the track.
Pitt stars as a former driver returning to the sport with fictional team Apxgp, with Idris playing his teammate.

Tarantino considered a list of some of Hollywood’s top stars for his action feature Django Unchained. He initially had Will Smith in mind for the part, but Smith turned the role down, opening it up for other stars to secure. The Wire alum Elba had a brief opportunity to appear in the Tarantino flick. But Tarantino shot the actor down early since he was British.

Idris Elba stars in Apple TV+’s ‘Hijack’
Apple TV+’s Hijack, which premiered on June 28, 2023 with the release of the first two episodes, is a seven-episode, edge-of-your-seat thriller told in real-time. As the title suggests, the series involves the hijacking of an airplane. Five-time Emmy nominee Idris Elba (Luther) stars as Sam Nelson, one of the trapped passengers and a man who just happens to possess a specific set of skills that makes him the perfect negotiator.
The action in Hijack takes place onboard the fictional Kingdom Airlines 29 (KA29), originating out of Dubai and bound for London. The series utilized a real Airbus A330 plane (retired from service) to bring that claustrophobic feeling of being trapped in a situation completely out of your control to life.
For series star Idris Elba, shooting in such a confined environment might have been difficult, but it paid off onscreen.

When two British-born powerhouses get together — Idris Elba, an actor-director-producer of Sierra Leone, Creole and Ghanaian descent, and Nigerian-rooted Mo Abudu, largely considered the go-between for African content to the rest of the world — they have a powerful chemistry. Remarkably, though, they’ve never made anything together.
This is about to change. In March, the two quietly announced they would join forces to empower and uplift talent from Africa through their respective companies: Elba’s Green Door Pictures and Abudu’s EbonyLife TV. It’s a subject of shared passion for both. Throughout Elba’s prolific career, he’s continued to be involved in stories that are related to the African diaspora, from his early work on TV drama Sometimes in April, or The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, to his upcoming untitled Ghana project, which he will direct and star in. He’s long championed under-heard voices, and in...
