Tim McGraw is opening up about his relationship with his late father Tug McGraw. In a story for Esquire, the country music star shared the lessons he's learned in life, including those he took away from his time with his MLB pitcher dad. "People ask me, 'How could you have a relationship with your father? You were growing up in nothing. He was a millionaire baseball player. He knew you were there, and he didn't do anything,'" Tim noted to the magazine. "But when I found out Tug McGraw was my dad, it gave me something in my little town in Louisiana, something that I would have never reached for. How could I ever be angry?" For most of his childhood, Tim thought his...

Tim McGraw received the Tom Hanks Caregiver Champion Award last night from Tom Hanks himself – virtually – during the Elizabeth Dole Foundations’ third annual Heroes and History Makers event, honoring America’s 5.5 million family caregivers of wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans at home.
McGraw accepted the honor on behalf of family members and others who care for injured and ill veterans. “These men and women deserve our deepest gratitude,” he said. “And to our nation’s Hidden Heroes, our military caregivers, thank you for standing by your veteran. We recognize that you serve, too. America stands with you.”
“Tim, himself, knows what it is like to have a loved one count on him for their care,” Hanks said. “He has lived that life consumed by endless cycles of tests, trials, and treatments. Tim’s personal experience now drives him to make sure no other caregiver faces that reality alone.

Tim McGraw seems to have had kind of a different life, not rough to the point that it’s unbearable but definitely a little tougher than some. He grew up believing his stepfather was his real father until he met his biological dad, a pro baseball player named Tug McGraw. Tug initially denied that Tim was his son but by the time Tim turned 18 they’d formed a bond that lasted until Tug’s passing in 2004. Initially it doesn’t sound like Tim really took a shine to music until his college years when he picked up a guitar and learned how

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Well, a few things, maybe.
It’s not at all hard to understand why Harvey Weinstein turned to Diane Paulus to overhaul Finding Neverland, the musical based on Miramax’s 2004 movie starring Johnny Depp as Peter Pan creator J.M Barrie. Paulus brings a broad catholicity of taste to her work as artistic director of the non-profit American Repertory Theatre, and that wide-ranging sensibility has led to her own souped-up, physically dazzling revivals of Hair and Pippin, both of which moved to Broadway.
When a 2012 tryout in Leicester, England under the leadership of Rob Ashford was met with yawns, Weinstein sent Finding Neverland back to the drawing board. In addition to hiring Paulus, he replaced Allan Knee (who wrote The Man Who Was Peter Pan, the basis for the film) with James Graham as book writer. U.K. pop-music specialists Gary Barlow...

Today Tim McGraw is a country music superstar, but as a kid his father was the famous one in the family.
Though his dad Tug McGraw was known throughout the country as a relief pitcher for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, father and son had no relationship during Tim's formative years. During a conversation about the web series "Quantum Heroes," which spotlights extraordinary first responders, Tim McGraw told HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill about how his tough relationship with his dad shaped his life.
McGraw recalled the strange sensation of seeing his dad play baseball on television while he and his family lived in "poor circumstances" in Louisiana.
"I remember watching the World Series games and being 13 years old and sort of lucky that we could pay the light bill to have the TV on to watch the World Series game," he said. "It was a little strange dichotomy there.

It was a gorgeous, slightly breezy day in Nashville. There was a breakfast buffet stocked with muffins and fruit set up - and the sound of gunfire crackled loudly in the air. Turns out, Tim McGraw had a specific target in mind. "I'm going to take out Luke Bryan," the country superstar, and host of the charity Tug McGraw Celebrity Sporting Clay Shootout, said jokingly to People Tuesday at the Nashville Gun Club. "He's a Georgia boy, and I'm a Louisiana boy, so I've got an advantage right off." "But I'm a little rusty, so I'm aiming for Luke's foot,...

One of the biggest baseball stories over the weekend wasn't the latest dominant performance from Washington Nationals rookie pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg or Manny Ramirez's return to Fenway Park for the first time since he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers two years ago. Rather, it was the strange headlines grabbed by Lady Gaga, who attended the New York City "Subway Series" on Friday night (June 18). Following the game (while wearing little more than underwear and a Yankees jersey), Gaga made her way into the Yankees clubhouse to drink some whiskey and visit with a handful of the players. She was asked to leave, which lead many to believe that she had been banned from the place. But Yankees general manager Brian Cashman clarified the team's official stance on Sunday (June 20). "She's not banned," he said. "Celebrities aren't banned. If Michael Jordan showed up here he would have access...

Country music artist Tim McGraw has built a generous charitable repertoire over the past decade. He and his wife, Faith Hill, took truckloads of relief items down to the Gulf area after Hurricane Katrina.
