Just two days before Sundance Film Festival will unveil its lineup, the other major January Utah festival has released theirs. Now in its 29th iteration, next year’s Slamdance Film Festival––which will also be providing programming both in-person and online, from January 20th through 29th––has unveiled its features slate. The lineup for the festival, which opens with Moby’s Punk Rock Vegan Movie, was culled from 7,600 total submissions, 1,522 of which were features. All films selected in the Narrative Features and Documentary Features competition categories are directorial debuts without U.S. distribution, with budgets of less than 1 million Usd.

Slamdance has announced its feature lineup and “Free LSD” as the closing night film for the 29th Slamdance Film Festival
This year’s lineup was chosen from 7,600 submissions — 1, 522 of which were features — and represents projects from 13 different countries. The selections for the Narrative Features and Documentary Features competition categories are directorial debuts without U.S. distribution, with budgets of less than 1 million.

Albany, N.Y. — New York sought to combat violence by rushing the nation's toughest gun control measure into law after the Connecticut school shootings that killed 26 people, but the state is now carving out an exemption to make sure movie and TV producers can stage running gun battles on Manhattan streets.
Movie and TV productions have long been courted by New York and other states with tax breaks in exchange for the jobs and glamour of the industry. Hollywood is also a major campaign fundraising stop for New York politicians.
"We spend a lot of money in the state bringing movie production here, post-production here, so obviously we would want to facilitate that," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who wants to expand the film and TV tax credit.
He said movies and TV may use fake guns that wouldn't be subject to the new law but the industry wants "certainty." The...

Already shooting since June 30th "Box of Shadows" has released several production stills, from the set, on Twitter. Already "Box of Shadows" has begun shooting and the script from Borrelli (Goodbye Casanova) and Scott Svatos takes another look at the ghost stories of the past. Borrelli states "It's a very different kind of ghost story" and once production is finished in Los Angeles fans will get an early glimpse of this film that hypothesizes a world with "...uncontrolled desire."
