Brigitte Engerer was born on October 27, 1952 in Tunis, French Protectorate of Tunisia [now Tunisia]. She was married to Xavier Fourteau and Yann Queffélec. She died on June 23, 2012 in Paris, France.
She lived in Paris, France. She is survived by her former husband, Yann Queffelec; a daughter, Lenore Queffelec and son, Harold Queffelec; her father, Edgard Engerer; and sister Christel Engerer.
She taught at the Paris Conservatory of Music in Paris, France and was a chamber musician. She performed Russian pianist Boris Berevosky.
In 1969, she studied at the Moscow Conservatory in Moscow, Soviet Union under Stanislav Neuhaus. She stayed in Soviet Union until 1978 before returning to Paris, France.
Her family moved to France in 1963 where she was a pupil of Lucette Descaves of the Paris Conservatory of Music. She had studied piano since 1956 and performed in public in 1958.
I need the transparency of the French piano -- and, more important, the rationality of French philosophy but I needed some of the Russian craziness in my playing. I still do.
