Dunki Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, Boman Irani & Vicky Kaushal
Director: Rajkumar Hirani
Dunki Movie Review Out! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
What’s Good: Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan coming together for a subject like illegal immigration, rather than taking a risk-free route of commercial entertainers
What’s Bad: Gives you Munna Bhai and 3 Idiots vibes but fails to match that excellence
Loo Break: Interval is enough
Watch or Not?: Since two powerhouses have come together for the first time, you should give it a try
Language: Hindi
Available On: Theatrical release
Runtime: 2 hours and 41 minutes
User Rating:
Based in Laltu (a small village in Punjab), three close friends, Mannu (Taapsee Pannu), Buggu (Vikram Kochhar), and Balli (Anil Grover), are fed up with their lives and want to earn big. Their dream destination is London, but getting there isn’t an easy task.

What’s Good: Ranbir Kapoor putting everything in, but for what? The interval block could be a separate short film, and I would surely hoot for that one
What’s Bad: Everything you thought was bad in Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh it’s worse here
Loo Break: There should be a competition among friends of who can sit through this almost three-and-a-half-hour film without taking a loo break, and that would have an interesting outcome than this film

Love Aaj Kal
Starring Kartik Aryan, Sara Ali Khan, Arushi Sharma
Written & Directed by Imtiaz Ali
The post-intermission section of Imtiaz Ali’s confounding “love” story opens with what looks a video of a cheesy rapper exhorting the persuasions of that bewildering emotion called love, the same one that Kartik Aaryan in a semi-sepia flashback is heard telling his friends feels like someone strangling him in his sleep.
That’s how we often feel while watching Imtiaz Ali’s antidotal love story. Consciously or otherwise Ali denudes the feeling of love of all romance, makes it look like a train hurtling torrentially into the land of trauma . So fasten you seatbelts, for a ride into the choppy waters of a love relationship, with Kartik Aryan playing the cross-generation double loverboy with all the earnestness of Charlie Brown sneaking midnight treats for Snoopy.
Honestly, there is no way of telling the two Kartiks apart.

A lot has been made about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s adaptation of Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s epic poem “Padmavat” (1540). Even before its release, the film had been mired in controversy due to rumors regarding tampering with Rajput (an Indian community historically known for their valor and honor) history and a prominent figure, Rani Padmini, in their lore. From vandalism on set and threats to the actors and Bhansali himself by right-wing groups to the eventual delay in its release (it was supposed to release on December 1, 2017), “Padmaavat” has been through a lot of trouble (it even lost the ‘i’ from its title). All of this trouble with an extremist right-wing group gave an impression that probably the film could build a counter-narrative against the glorification of ‘jauhar’ (self-immolation Rajput women used to perform in order to save their honor from victorious enemies) in Rajput lore.

What do you call these? Haan, the Pheelgoood type of film. Running Shaadi keeps the proceedings running at a hectic ace. With a shaadi happening every ten minutes you’d expect a certain strain monotony to waft into the proceedings. But no. Debutant director Amit Roy knows how to make every shaadi look fresh…or freessss, as our Bihari hero would say.
And hey, this is as good a place as any to tell you, Amit Sadh’s Bihari accent is bang-on. Neither overdone, nor too casual it fits the character’s lackadaisical personality like a hand in glove. Ram Bharose—yup, that’s our Bihari Baba’s name—a Bihari migrant in Amritsar, loves the feisty Punjabi girl Nimmi.
She is the doughty Sardarni who at the beginning of the film asks her father’s helpful employee to help her with an abortion.

Director Amit Roy’s latest film, Running Shaadi, addresses a light-hearted approach on the subject of arranged marriages.
It tells the story of Ram Bharose (Amit Sadh) and his friend Sarabjeet Sidhaana aka Cyberjeet (Arsh Bajwa), who set up a website to help love struck couples in the city of Amritsar defy their families’ marriage orders and elope together.
Taapsee Pannu, who plays Nimmi, the female lead, says the reason the role appealed to her was because the character is almost similar to her.
Taapsee Pannu said, “I think for Amit Roy, he wanted me to play the role because the character is almost me on screen. The character is so like me, it was almost like I wasn’t even acting.”
She says that although she didn’t have to step too far outside her comfort zone to play Nimmi, she learnt a lot from the experience. “The characters...

Despite the fact that John Abraham, Shoojit Sircar and Ayushmann Khurrana, later got busy with other projects, the film was always on the cards until a title controversy turned it all topsy-turvy. Apparently the automobile company Bajaj Group decided to take legal action against the makers for using the tagline of their scooter commercials, 'Hamara Bajaj', as a part of their film's title. This ongoing battle led to a delay and the cast and crew moved on to other projects. But now, the makers have finally narrowed down on the title Agra Ka Daabra. Talking about the connection, Ayushmann revealed that his character which was initially named Sanjay Bajaj will now have Daabra as his last name.

Mumbai, Oct 15: Panelists at an open forum on digital tools in filmmaking at the Mumbai Film Festival Saturday were unanimous in endorsing digital technology as the future of the medium.
'We have no choice but to adapt to digital. And unlike in the past, it is not because it is cheaper but because the quality of digital has gone up and it allows you to do a lot more,' said filmmaker Rohan Sippy.
Cinematographer Amit Roy agreed.
'Digital for years was not up to the standards of film. But in the last three to four years, it has changed. The 'red camera' was a game changer and now you have the Arri, the 5D and other.
