Much has been made online and offline that this coud be the end of Hollywood’s interest in the San Diego Comic Con. Reasons have been suggested in the range of movies failing to keep the hype after the event (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) to it becoming increasingly more difficult for studios to organize talent for the days they will need to be at the convention.
I have even heard theories that because Disney has it’s own D23 Expo to showcase and control everything they want for fans and the fact they will not be upstaged by another studio, that more studios might hold their own convention eliminating the need for Comic-Con being a hype driver for them.
For the time being, two weeks out until the largest pop culture event every year, it seems the demise of studio’s Sdcc participation has been greatly exaggerated. So as...

Dreamworks has released some gun toting images of Fright Night that show off the film’s subtle star, Dave Tennant from Doctor Who fame.
Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all–he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the hottest girl in high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But trouble arrives when an intriguing stranger Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right– yet no one, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), seems to notice! After witnessing some very unusual activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on his neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone that he’s telling the truth, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this...

Well, Dreamworks has released the first official photo of Dave Tennant in unrecognizable fashion in the Fright Night remake. We posted a while ago a poster showing him as Peter Vincent, but this hi-rez photo is much better. I am a big Tennant fan from his Doctor Who days. It’s cool to see him branch out into more films.
A remake of the comedy-horror picture about a teenager who discovers his new next-door neighbor is a vampire. Anton Yelchin plays Charlie, a teen convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. Toni Collette will play the teen’s disbelieving mom, who falls under the vampire’s spell. David Tennant will play Peter Vincent, a character who in the original movie was played by Roddy McDowall as the host of a late-night horror show. In the remake, he’s a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery.

It has been awhile since we have seen anything from the Fright Night remake. The only image to date has been the one of Dave Tennant. Now some new images of Fright Night, another horror remake, shows us a movie that looks more like a Buffy horror/comedy than a brooding Twilight teen drama, something we are more than happy about.
Marti Noxon, former Buffy writer and producer and one of Joss Whedon’s lieutenants during the Buffy/Angel era, wrote the script for this remake and seems to have injected a lot of familiar looks and feel into the project which helmer Craig Gillespie has taken too as well. Dreamworks has released the first few new images of the film showing off Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and Imogen Poots.

Broadway World recently chatted with actor Ian McKellen, who revealed he has not yet signed onto play the wizard Gandalf in The Hobbit. Here’s an excerpt from the site’s interview:
“I am not under contract, no. I’m not going to say any more than that because it might complicate things! So, I would say – at the moment – no, I am not under contract.”
The news is fairly bizarre, but not shocking, even since Ian McKellen has been quite close to the production in the past. It may just be a situation where things have just gotten going on the project and they have yet to negotiate for the actor. I find this mind boggling though, since casting has been underway and Gandalf is arguably the biggest character next to Bilbo. I guess negotiations are still ongoing between the studio and the actor, and we shall see if he returns,...

It seems as two our community’s most prolific and credible writers John Campea and El Mayimbe, one of the guys over at Latino Review, have both heard that Adrien Brody is being sought after for the role of Hank Pym in Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man movie to be directed by Edgar Wright, after he makes his first appearance in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers.
Here is what Campea and Lr had to say.
Campea said;
Take this for what its worth, but I was just told Adrien Brody is most likely going to be Ant Man for Edgar Wright.
El Mayimbe followed up;
I personally checked w/my pals at Paradigm (Adrien Brody’s agency) & at press time, Yes they were pursing Ant Man but got nothing yet.
Well this is a rumor that we believe may hold true more than the previous ones that have hit such as...

Doctor Who star David Tennant performed his own stunts for tonight's episode of the show.
The actor rejected plans to bring in a stuntman for scenes which see The Doctor fighting with a huge mechanical claw, vowing to do them himself instead. He wore knee and elbow protectors underneath his clothes so he would not be injured as he was thrown into barrels . . .

John Barrowman has claimed that Christopher Eccleston was "grumpy" on the set of Doctor Who.
The actor, who plays Captain Jack Harkness on the BBC One sci-fi hit, admitted that he did not enjoy spending time with Eccleston when they worked together on the programme.
Eccleston took on the role of The Doctor for one series, which aired in 2005. He was replaced by David Tennant, who is currently starring in his third series.
"Chris was always grumpy. You don't always have to be intense. There comes a point when intensity makes you miserable - I think that was the case with Chris," . . .
