Last year, it was announced that Fighting with My Family co-stars Nick Frost and Lena Headey were going to reunite to work on the serial killer thriller Svalta, which was set to start filming in Finland soon. Well, the movie was shot in Finland and production recently wrapped, but Headey had to drop out of the project due to scheduling issues before it started rolling. Deadline reports that her character ended up being played by Aisling Bea, whose previous credits include This Way Up, Living with Yourself, and Home Sweet Home Alone.
Svalta was directed by Steffen Haars (New Kids Turbo) from a screenplay Frost wrote himself. The story follows a family on their summer vacation to a remote island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them, the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family. The title is taken from the name of the fictional island.

If the truth is out there, it will likely remain out there. Amazon has canceled Nick Frost and Simon Pegg’s supernatural series “Truth Seekers” after just one season.
“Get ready to be rocked with some bad news,” Frost said in an Instagram video on Friday. “Sadly, ‘Truth Seekers’ will not be returning for a second season. ‘Truth Seekers’ has not been renewed, which is a massive kick in the willy for me. We really put our all into this, our heart and soul and blood in some cases — so to not come back is really sad for us. It’s a shame.”
“Truth Seekers” followed a team of part-time paranormal investigators using homemade gadgets to track the supernatural, sharing their adventures online. Their haunted stakeouts became more terrifying as they began to uncover “an unimaginable, apocalyptic conspiracy,” according to the show’s logline.

“Amazon called it a horror comedy or a comedy, but it’s not — we wanted to make a four-hour film and as such, we wanted it scored with original music and we wanted to shoot it a certain way and it really paid off,” explains Nick Frost about “Truth Seekers” in an exclusive interview with Gold Derby (watch the video above). He says about the tone of his new series that is available to stream on Amazon Prime, “It was a tricky balance. We wanted it to be funny obviously, but also, we wanted it to be frightening, but also weird. A few of us described it as when you were a kid and you had flu and you got slightly delirious. We wanted to try and find where that was, but also put it in a ‘Black Mirror’ kind of universe where you’re not sure exactly where it...

When most of us love something – a film, a band, a football team – we express that love by wearing the t-shirt or getting a tattoo. When Nick Frost, Simon Pegg and their mates love something, they express it by making a feature film trilogy. Or a cult 90s TV series. Or eight-part comedy-horror Truth Seekers.
Truth Seekers, co-created by Frost, Pegg, Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz, is the product of fandom. It’s a bundle of admiration for horror in all guises, from the shonky DIY of Most Haunted to cultivated glitch and found-footage movie scares, to the recently revived anthology tradition. It has a go at recreating it all, tipping its hat so often that it can’t quite juggle the rest of its ambitions because its hand is already too full of hat.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost know better than most how to find a middle ground where a spoof or satire works as both a send-up of a genre and a worthy entry in that very genre. Even if Shaun of the Dead were only occasionally funny, it would still be a well-executed zombie movie. Even if Hot Fuzz didn’t embrace silliness at times, it would still be a well-executed action movie.
You can see a similar principle afoot in Frost and Pegg’s new Amazon half-hour Truth Seekers, co-created and co-written with James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders and directed in its entirety by ...

It’d be easy to glance at “Truth Seekers” and mistake it for a satirical farce. The new Amazon series comes from Nat Saunders, James Serafinowicz and the vaunted duo of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, who have collaborated on genre comedies like “Shaun of the Dead” and “The World’s End.” Starring Frost as a wireless service repairman slash amateur paranormal investigator, “Truth Seekers” has plenty of small-town British charm to spare as he travels from one haunted house to another. But the series also quickly reveals itself to be a genuinely creepy bit of horror, with ghost stories that are tragic and poignant, startling and violent. It channels everything from “The Exorcist” to “Doctor Who” to create set-pieces that stick with you after the credits have rolled, keeping the show from getting stuck in a single comedic gear.

Let's be honest. There are not enough genre shows on television anymore.
A programming staple for many years, we're in a terrible rut when it comes to sci-fi and especially horror programming.
So when you tell me that comedic duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are behind an upcoming genre Amazon series called Truth Seekers, well, it's an easy sell.
Pegg and Frost are behind some of my favorite movies including the classic, Shaun of the Dead.
It's unfortunate that the pair isn't acting as such in Truth Seekers, but I have faith that with their touch on-screen and off, we'll be in for a good time.
And with Halloween called off in most areas because it's supposedly not safe to wear a mask to get candy when that's all we do anymore anyway, we are in desperate need of entertainment to celebrate the holiday.

San Diego Comic-Con’s first-ever Comic-Con@Home comes to a close Sunday, ending a five-day lineup of almost entirely prerecorded virtual panels.
San Diego Comic-Con 2020 was canceled in April due to the coronavirus pandemic, marking the first time the annual pop culture event won’t happen as planned in its 50-year history. In May, Comic-Con International revealed it would be holding a free virtual con in lieu of the traditional in-person con.
The online convention, dubbed Comic-Con@Home, will take place July 22-26, the same time span during which San Diego Comic-Con would have been held. Between 300 and 400 virtual panels are planned for the event.

‘Truth Seekers': Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Reunite to Fight ‘Ancient Magic’ in First Trailer (Video)
We were already sold on “Truth Seekers” when it was announced last year — reuniting Simon Pegg and Nick Frost on television for the first time since “Spaced” ended is all you had to say. But now we finally have a closer look at the upcoming Amazon Prime comedy and we can safely say we were right to be fully aboard sight unseen.
The first trailer dropped on Thursday during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel, which featured series creators and writers Frost, Pegg, Nat Saunders, and James Serafinowicz. Watch it above now.
The eight-episode supernatural comedy stars Frost and Pegg alongside Samson Kayo, Emma D’Arcy, Susan Wokoma and the great Malcolm McDowell and focuses on a team of paranormal investigators who stumble on a vast conspiracy with apocalyptic implications. In addition to co-starring in Edgar Wright's "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are continuing to bring genre stories to life on the big screen at their Stolen Picture production company, which has just sold a horror film pitch for a film called Svalta to Orion Pictures.

Lindsay Lohan is making a comeback.
The former child star and tabloid magnet, now 32-years-old and living permanently in Dubai, is reinventing herself with a hospitality business in Greece. With the debut of her latest beach club in Mykonos, Lohan is making a return to the spotlight with an MTV reality show, “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club,” which premieres Tuesday at 8 p.m.
The show follows Lohan as a businesswoman and entrepreneur, and shows a new side of her: sober and serious.
The tables have turned, and now Lohan — who a decade ago was infamously sent a scathing letter from a Hollywood producer for not showing up to the set of one of her films in 2007 — is cracking the whip on her wild staff of bartenders she employs at her latest beach club, reprimanding the bunch in the first episode for having a drunken pool party when they should be prepping for work.

Stolen Picture, the production company founded by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, has launched a new drama initiative to work with up-and-coming writers on young-adult projects, with two series already in development.
The first project from the Righta Incubator initiative, “We Never Sleep,” is a detective comedy-thriller that will tackle bullying, justice, morality, mental health and post-Brexit small-town life. “Chemistry,” the second project, is a fast-paced genre hybrid that will pose questions about what it means to be human as the show follows protagonists on the run for their survival.
Pegg and Frost formed London-based Stolen Picture with former Fox Searchlight and Bad Wolf executive Miles Ketley last year. There has been keen interest in the new indie banner’s projects, given the founders’ loyal following and string of film and TV hits.
Horror comedy movie “Slaughterhouse Rulez” is in production, and half-hour paranormal investigator comedy “Truth Seekers” is in development.
