Tadej Pogacar
Upon winning on his debut at the world's biggest cycling event the Tour de France at the age of 21, and again winning the race the following year, the name of Slovenian professional cyclist Tadej Pogacar was mentioned in the same breath as that of Eddy Merckx. In 2019, Pogacar made himself heard with a third place in the general classification of the Vuelta a Espana. The next year, he won the Tour de France on his debut. He took over the yellow jersey from compatriot Primoz Roglic on the penultimate day of the Tour, an uphill (mountainous) time trial on La Planche des Belles Filles in the Eastern French region Vosges. Pogacar is noted for his performances in Grand Tours and one-day racing. He won three out of five 'Monuments' before he was 25 years old: Giro di Lombardia twice, and the Tour of Flanders and Liège-Bastogne-Liège once each. He is an allrounder of the cycling sport; he has a strong ability to climb, to sprint and to ride against the clock.
