The whirring of the platform as it descends, the mad scramble to pick ingredients for a dish someone is only crafting in their head at that moment.
Next Level Chef is a different beast than other cooking shows and even different from other Gordon Ramsay shows.
It takes the excitement up several levels by the nature of its format, but even more by the skill required to do so much on the fly.
Contestants on Hell's Kitchen can guess what's coming their way.
Some of Chef Ramsay's signature dishes are always on display, and even when they're told to craft a dish that will wow Gordon and his fellow judges, they aren't always on their own.
It's a little bit closer in scope to MasterChef, which offers surprise boxes and tests the skills of masterful home chefs.

For Next Level Chef, executive producer Matt Cahoon needed to think of a new idea for Gordon Ramsay’s next big show. He realized the key to creating something new and original was to really put the chefs’ skills to the test.
Gordon Ramsay hosts this reality cooking-competition, along with fellow chefs and mentors Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais, where fifteen chefs compete for a 250 thousand prize and a one-year mentorship under all three chefs. Each challenge is rigorous, as the chefs are split between three levels: the top level with a top-shelf kitchen, the middle level with a standard commercial kitchen, and the bottom level with a “basement” quality kitchen.
While the pitch for Next Level Chef seemed daunting, Cahoon and Ramsay’s crew of builders managed to create the three-tiered set and keep it 100 percent green. It’s difficult to stay innovative with so many cooking shows on television,...

Fox is bringing back the post-Super Bowl series lead-out, and turning to chef Gordon Ramsay to help do it. The network plans to premiere the second season of Ramsay’s “Next Level Chef” right after Super Bowl Lvii on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023.
In announcing the time slot, Fox Entertainment chairman Charlie Collier called it “the most powerful launch pad in entertainment.”
Last year, NBC became the first network in decades to not schedule a series program behind the big game, instead opting to return to its coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
When Fox previously aired the Super Bowl, in 2020, the network ran the Season 2 premiere of “The Masked Singer.” Other recent Super Bowl lead-out programs for Fox have included the premiere of “24: Legacy” (2017), the episode of “New Girl” featuring Prince (2014) and an episode of “Glee” (2011).
