With each update, Tekken 8 becomes a better experience, as Bandai Namco listens to the fans, provides balance updates to an extent, and throws in new content for its players. The concept of seasons in games has been going on for a while.
Although the latest Tekken felt complete on release as compared to other titles in the genre, even it couldn’t escape the seasonal route that comes with modern gaming. Last month, series veteran Eddy Gordo made his entrance into Tekken 8, but the future will see more inclusions that fans will likely appreciate.

Many titles like Tekken 8 that involve online interaction and matches face issues, such as the absence of active players who simply enter matches without participating, or the presence of infamous trolls and hackers.
This kind of behavior is part of gaming; every game has its own way to avoid it. Some titles just go straight to the point and ban accounts. In the most recent update on Tekken 8’s online bans, the game’s team announced on social media that they had banned accounts that were simply going to the bathroom, which infuriated some fans.

Online gaming has been one of the most popular things in video games for over 15 years. Every title has its community, and the studios are really looking for ways to improve and create the most successful environment.

It is not a rare sight to see video games often collaborating with cinematic and other similar franchises that focus on a similar genre in order to entertain a larger audience. The same was the case when an unexpected collaboration between Mortal Kombat and DC came back in 2008, leaving fans shocked but glad as they enjoyed fighting against some of the most known superheroes.
What would have made such collaboration even better would be an animated movie, which is something that was actually pitched to Warner Bros, or WB as they own the copyright and trademarks to the superheroes. This was unfortunately shot down, depriving fans of what could have been a great experience watching the movie.

The Tekken video game series is if not the best, then one of the greatest fighting games ever made in the genre, and the success of Tekken 7 is the perfect example to showcase the franchise’s influence. The game is also responsible for bringing the addition of many new fighters that the player could fight with, including Shaheen, a Middle Eastern fighter.
The player base could not have been happier with this addition, which is part of the reason why Bandai Namco chose to include Shaheen once again in the latest installment of the series, Tekken 8. He is also the perfect example of what a regionally-inspired character should be like, as talked about by the director of the game himself, Katsuhiro Harada.

Tekken is one of the most popular fighting game franchises that has enjoyed huge success and has a massive community. There are nearly a dozen games in the franchise, and Bandai Namco Entertainment released the latest title, Tekken 8, earlier this year after a wait of nearly nine years.
The game has received critical and commercial success, with a critic score of 90 on Metacritic and a user score of 8.1. However, despite the success of the game, Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada is worried about the future of one-on-one fighting titles, and the young players are the ones to blame.

Gaming is at its peak nowadays, and every developer who makes an excellent game gets the success they deserve. In 2023, games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty got the success they so deserved. But the most surprising was Street Fighter 6, which became an unexpected breakthrough for Capcom. The same happened for Tekken 8 recently; both of these games became successful, surprising everyone involved.
It’s not as if fans do not know about these games or that they are small franchises; it’s just that fighting games have a very niche audience. Hence, when these games get so successful, everyone can’t help but wonder what happened. But the director of Tekken 8 has his doubts about the future of his genre.

Tekken 8 officially arrived last year and has been welcomed with a lot of love and encouragement by players. And, if you thought this was all, the game’s director may have a surprise for you. Later this year, players will be enjoying additional character stories, all for free.
The game’s director, Katsuhiro Harada, announced that players can expect a lot of new content in the coming months, and won’t have to worry about paying for any of it. The existing roster will witness new additions, along with individual stories that add to the game’s narrative.
The roster in Tekken 8 is about to expand even further Even more interesting characters, new storylines, and more to come in the future.
At the time of writing, there are 32 playable characters in the game. Every character has a unique personality and moveset that may take you months (even years!) to master.

Tekken 8 has already sold a couple of million copies globally, surpassing the sales expectations of Bandai Namco. Interestingly the numbers came out to be a savior, to some extent, given the underperformance of their Mmo game Blue Protocol. The numbers generated by the popular fighting game hopefully did set off the potential losses. Now as the game is probably adding microtransactions, it remains to be seen how the new feature will perform.
Nonetheless, fans are clinging to the hope that the game won’t be putting hefty price labels so they can afford and enjoy it without going on the edge. The franchise has, to this date, sold 55 Million copies globally with Tekken 7 passing with flying colors, having sold over 10 Million copies. Bandai Namco would want to continue with this success with the latest game in the franchise which is possible when fans aren’t upset with their endeavors.

With Tekken 8 currently dominating the fighting game scene, it’s no wonder that fans have already begun wondering what the future of the hit installment in the franchise will be. Fortunately for them, the mastermind behind the series, Katsuhiro Harada, is very vocal on X/Twitter.
Guest characters are always a treat in any game, but fighting games have always arguably had it the best. Fans have wanted Tifa in Tekken for so long, that, at this point, with how much Harada mentions her, it wouldn’t be a surprise if she actually makes it to the series.

Katsuhiro Harada, Bandai Namco’s Tekken series producer, was displeased by Sega’s announcement at The Video Game Awards a few nights ago. Sega finally revealed what they will be working on for the next while as a reboot for dormant franchises they have. Among them, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Jet Set/Grind Radio, Shinobi, and Crazy Taxi, seem to be getting new games in the form of reboots. Before the event, content creators had been sent envelopes from Sega hinting at […]

Returning character Zafina, newcomer Leroy Smith, and more will be released in the upcoming Tekken 7 season 3 pass.
When it comes to the Evolution Championship Series, Tekken 7 is the ultimate success story. It made its Evo debut in 2015, even though it was only really available in Japanese arcades and it was only out for a couple months. It didn’t get a home release for another two years and after two waves of Dlc, Tekken 7 is the only returning game at Evo 2019 to increase the amount of competitors! Which is good, because for my money, it’s the most watchable fighting game thriving these days.
On Sunday, series producer Katsuhiro Harada appeared on stage to release a new trailer for Bandai-Namco’s crown jewel. Starting in September and moving into spring of 2020, we’re going to be getting a third season of Tekken 7 goodness.

“The Walking Dead” villain Negan will be a playable character in “Tekken 7’s” second season, publisher Bandai Namco revealed on Sunday during the Evo tournament in Las Vegas.
“Your eyes do not deceive you, your pounding heart does not betray you; Negan from ‘AMC’s The Walking Dead’ is making his way into ‘Tekken 7 to deal a world of pain in the ‘Tekken’ universe,” Bandai Namco said. “Negan, beloved by fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ for his charismatic yet sinister demeanor, is ready to destroy all challengers, regardless of their stature in the ‘Tekken’ universe.

Following on from its promise last week of a final release date for the beat ’em up sequel, Bandai Namco has confirmed that Tekken 7 will hit Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on June 2, much later than the ‘early 2017’ date that the developer had originally been aiming for. As per IGN, franchise director Katsuhiro Harada recently stated at a media event in Tokyo that Namco tried its best to get the brawler ready for an earlier release, but simply couldn’t meet the deadline while still delivering all of the content it wanted to within the timeframe.
We were trying to do everything we could to make that date happen… maybe to scale down on the content in order to make the master release, but in the end we came to the decision that [after] seeing releases from other companies, as well as some of the past of our own, where maybe...

Final Fantasy Xv Game Director Hajime Tabata has cast light on the Jrpg’s long and troubled development, revealing that there was some “backlash” both internal and external when he took point at the helm in 2012.

It was here that the Ffxv Director spoke candidly about the game’s production woes, and why he believes that the creative team at Square Enix had lapsed into what he describes as a “Final Fantasy disease.”
Per 4Gamer:
“Around that time, I realized that among fans as well, there are people who’ve caught Final Fantasy disease.” When quizzed about the nature of said ailment, Tabata stated bluntly that “it refers to people within the company who can’t imagine anything other than their own view of Final Fantasy.”

Tekken X Street Fighter, the crossover beat ’em up first announced back in 2010, has been put on hold indefinitely, game director Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed.
Having been announced six years ago, the title was planned as the second of two collaborations between Capcom and Namco Bandai, the first being Street Fighter X Tekken, which was released in 2012. The latter features gameplay very similar to the Street Fighter series (fights take place on a 2D plane), and the former was expected to follow that of the Tekken series.
However, due to the recent release of Street Fighter V and the upcoming release of Tekken 7 on PlayStation 4, Harada said to GameSpot that releasing such a title in the near future would not only run the risk of splitting the communities of both up, but would potentially unnecessarily oversaturate the market.

Nintendo has been more willing to let third-party developers handle some of their most important properties as of late. Some have been surprising successes for the Japanese publisher such as the Omega Force developed Hyrule Warriors. Other titles, like Metroid: Other M by Team Ninja, haven’t been received as well by fans. While results have been mixed so far, it’s been an interesting move, and it’s fun to see Nintendo go outside its comfort zone.
The latest example of this trend is Bandai Namco’s Pokkén Tournament. As the name suggests, this fighting game combines the spirit of Tekken with the characters from Pokémon. While sadly no pocket monsters are getting tossed into volcanoes (maybe they’re waiting to use that plot device for the sequel), you do get to see some of the most famous Pokémon battling it out mano-a-mano. When we were originally coming up with the design, we worked very closely with The Pokémon Company and Game Freak to make sure everything was right. What happened was, we at Bandai Namco had the idea of making a really cool dark-colored Mewtwo, so we had one of our designers take a crack at it and then presented that to The Pokémon Company and Game Freak. A new character for Bandai Namco’s Pokken Tournament, the arcade fighter based on the Pokemon franchise, will be revealed on December 10th through the game’s official Twitter account. The announcement of the reveal was tweeted yesterday, with the only hint being that the new combatant’s name contains the Japanese character “ン,” which is translated to the letter “n.” According to Gematsu, a new support Pokemon will also be announced.
Pokken Tournament will see your favourite pocket monsters pitted against each other in a way you’ve never seen before. Gone is the slower paced turn-based combat that is usually associated with the kid-friendly creatures. Instead, Bandai Namco seems to be intent on channeling the brutal action of their Tekken series. It makes sense, seeing how the game’s executive producer is Katsuhiro Harada, the same producer behind the long-running Tekken franchise.

Namco Bandai has announced the next instalment in the long-running Tekken series...
Trailer
Fighting fans hankering for a new Tekken title are in luck, and as you can see from the trailer below, Tekken 7 is inbound, running on Unreal Engine 4.
The reveal came early, due to a leak ahead of the planned reveal at Evo 2014. News of the game was published on IGN ahead of time by accident, with the story being promptly taken down. However, the game has now been officially announced. It'll celebrate 20 years of the well-loved series.
Katsuhiro Harada, the game's producer, has praised the Unreal tech, saying “With Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it.
“Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it also allows us to bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.”
The story for the latest outing sees the never-ending...

Announced at the biggest fighting game tournament in the world Evo 2014, Tekken 7 is coming. A short teaser and promise of more info at San Diego Comic Con on July 25 was also shown on the stage in Las Vegas. No information on details such as platform or release date window was made, but we’ll more than likely get that info later this month.
Tekken 7 was leaked earlier over this weekend, which spoiled the surprise, but Namco Bandai’s Katsuhiro Harada firmly states that this was not the intended title to be revealed at Evo. Did this put another game’s announcement on hold, or perhaps details on Tekken X Street Fighter on hold? The only other bit of info we know right now is that Tekken 7 will run on Unreal Engine 4.

At a pre-tgs event, Namco Bandai revealed the first trailer for their upcoming free-to-play version of "SoulCalibur".
For the most part, the game looks largely the same as the most recent, previous entries in the series, which is either good or bad, depending one's point of view. Though there are two notable stand outs.
First, it features Sophitia, who was killed off between parts 4 and 5; "Lost Swords" serves as her grand return. Also, note how colorful all the weapons are as they are being swung, more so than normal:
One has to assume that the weapons are what players will be putting money down for the most, alongside wacky outfits. Joystiq also notes that it's running off the "SoulCalibur 5" engine, but is ultimately a different game. The game's producer, Masaaki Hoshino, states:

To Protect Community, Namco Bandai 'Looking for the Right Time' To Release 'Tekken X Street Fighter'
by Joseph Leray
Given the almost total radio silence from Namco Bandai on "Tekken X Street Fighter," you might be forgiven for assuming that it had been canceled or condemned to development hell. Not so says producer Katsuhiro Harada -- the game is "still in development."
Back in 2010, Capcom and Namco Bandai announced a set of crossover fighting games pitting fighters from their most famous franchises against one another: "Street Fighter X Tekken" would use the 2D game engine that powers "Street Fighter IV," and "Tekken X Street Fighter" would use "Tekken"'s 3D mechanics.
Capcom held up their end of the bargain last year, but "Tekken X Street Fighter" has been a no-show so far.
"There are several reasons why we haven’t released any updates," Harada explained to Siliconera. "One of the reasons is, 'Street Fighter X Tekken' was released. That still had updates until recently."

With Street Fighter X Tekken releasing last year to mixed reviews and lots of Dlc controversy, many gamers (myself included) have moved on and completely forgot that the game was just one piece of a two part deal between Namco Bandai and Capcom. That’s right, Namco’s Tekken X Street Fighter game is still missing in action, despite the fact that it was announced alongside Capcom’s game back in July 2010.
Responding to a question about the missing half of Namco’s deal, producer Katsuhiro Harada tweeted to his followers that they are “changing & considering platform strategy” for Tekken X Street Fighter, and “that’s why [they] don’t say anything [about the game]“.
While not a confirmation, Harada’s response seems to indicate that Namco Bandai may have moved development of the fighter over to the next generation consoles. Considering that (at least) the PlayStation 4 is due out later this year, moving...

Last night, Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada revealed via Twitter that the fighter would be getting some nice changes in an October 9th update. According to Harada, we should expect to see some new characters, stages, and modifications to the online and customization systems for the already pretty excellent game (my review).
While Harada didn't lay out any more specifics in his later Tweets, he did indicate to a fan asking about character balance in the Arcade mode that enemy fighters might get some adjustment, making that mode's endgame a little less punishing (because Jun and Unknown are the worst!).
While I'm curious about who else might get balanced out (and whether that will carry over into multiplayer), I'm even more intrigued by more fighters joining the already extensive 50-character lineup. At this point, nearly every character from the franchise's history is represented, leaving the likes of Gon or Dr.

Since the original DS was released in 2004 very few developers have used both of the system's screens in tandem for gameplay. Many games have stuck to featuring the gameplay on one screen (usually the top) and used the other for some in-game function or on-screen map. Even though the screens have such a close proximity, it can still be challenging for players to follow what is happening in two different places at once. However, there have been some games that have pushed players in this direction, most notably the amazing The World Ends With You, and now Fractured Soul is testing players' ability to split their attention while gaming.
The release of Fractured Soul in the 3Ds' eShop is the end of a very long road for its developer, EndGame. With the concepts for Fractured Soul dating back to 2004, the game is clearly a labor of love for the independent team behind it.

After I had a chance to check out the new World Tekken Federation feature during Pax Prime, longtime Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada was on hand to talk briefly about the series. Far from the outspoken bomb thrower (he's had some strong words for the competition's Dlc strategy as well as for fans of the series with gripes over its Vo).
The Harada-san that I met was a bit more sedate than the wild man I'd gotten used to online, keeping his cool behind his omnipresent shades and musing over the the past of the series as well as the way in which Tekken Tag Tournament 2 serves as a celebration for the nearly two decade old fighting series.
Through a translator, Harada told me that the genesis of the game was frequent fan demand since the first installment back in 2000 for the arcades and PS2. Explaining the delay between installments, Harada...

Apologies in advance for the lack of a larger gallery from my second day at Pax Prime, but most of it was spent running between meetings, chatting with some super-enthusiastic developers, and getting a first look at some stuff I can't talk about yet.
The highlight, though, would have to be the North American debut of the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes demo video on the stage of the Paramount, presented by Hideo Kojima was who there to talk about the series' 25 years of history. But more on that a little later today.

Capcom announces 12 new fighters coming to their mashup fighter along with a new balancing patch. Katsuhiro Harada balances that out by saying Namco Bandai would have to fire him to put paid characters into a Tekken game.
Duck, because Katsuhiro Harada is throwing firebombs again. The series' director, who took to Twitter recently to order fans of the long-running series to "grow up" is back again saying that he'd rather not be in charge of the franchise if his Namco Bandai bosses ordered him to put in new characters as paid Dlc.
Speaking to Eurogamer, the outspoken director said while he'd been asked to do just that in the past, and understood his company's need to make money, he just couldn't do it. So it's something I'm continually asked even now. But I haven't changed my stance. If you're making a fighting game, all of the elements necessary to enjoy...

Game devs are dropping the hammer on Twitter this week. First it was Tekken Game Director Katsuhiro Harada laying it down for series fans who weren't happy with recent changes in the games' voice over. This time it's Platinum Games writer Jean Pierre Kellams who took to Twitter to drop some thoughts on what he believes are the shortcomings of the Japanese game industry.
Kellams is the credited co-writer of 2010's Vanquish, and he has some strong words for Japanese developers and what he perceives as the solid, big ideas of Aaa games contrasted with what he sees as the unrealized potential of the Japanese game development scene which he feels designs to the lowest common denominator.

Unhappy with the voice work in Tekken Tag Tournament 2? The series' Game Director Katsuhiro Harada suggests that you get over it. Or whatever.
Harada took to Twitter (via TwitLonger) to unleash against what he calls fan "spam" related to the changes in some of the Tekken voice cast for the latest game and even going back to Tekken 6. Mostly it's rooted in many fans wanting the original voice actors to return to their roles or perceived changes to some of the game's iconic audio (most notably badass zombie Bryan Fury's sinister laugh).
What say you? Is Harada leveling a reasoned response against the haters? Or is this this pure rant-iness? (Or, obviously, somewhere in between?)
I have something I want to say to the people who spam me with requests to "switch back(or Bring back) to the voice actors used previously".
I believe that, before whining and complaining about everything,...

With over 40 million copies sold and strong reviews for the most part (especially for the second and third ones), the video game franchise "Tekken" has not surprisingly seen three adaptations since the series began - a late 90's two-part anime series, last year's full-length CG-animated 3D anime feature "Tekken: Blood Vengeance", and Dwight H. Little's 2010 live-action film.
Despite video game series director Katsuhiro Harada dismissing the live-action film, Crystal Sky Pictures CEO Steven Paul says they're forging ahead with a prequel entitled "Tekken: Rise of the Tournament" according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Opening in Japan theatrically in 2010, the film went direct to video in the U.S. through Anchor Bay. Paul however hopes the prequel, which Prachya Pinkaew ("Ong Bak") will direct, will get a domestic theatrical release. No deal is in place as of yet.

Namco Bandai had a big surprise for "Tekken" fans during Comic-Con this weekend. I'm not talking about a little surprise here, either. In fact, I would say the company had a plethora of "Tekken" announcements on hand to please even the most battle-hardened fan of the iconic franchise. As it turns out, you're not only getting a PlayStation 3 bundle called "Tekken Hybrid," but you can also play "Tekken Bowl" on your iOS device for the finest price: free.
What's in the "Tekken Hybrid" package, you ask? First, you'll get a full-length 3D, computer-generated film, "Tekken Blood Vengeance 3D" on Blu-ray. Secondly, you'll get "Tekken Tag Tournament HD." Lastly, you'll also get "Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue," which is essentially a little taste of the full "Tag Tournament 2" experience, since the full game still hasn't made the move from Japanese arcades to consoles, yet.

For those of you unfortunate enough to have seen the live-action adaptation of Tekken, I send my condolences. If, like me, you grew up with the likes of Mortal Kombat and Tekken as your primary source of mindless, button-bashing action (learning the buttons was for the cool kids...or those with too much time on their hands), this film was the final nail in a long-term deterioration of the once dominant franchise.
For years, gamers had been captivated by the fighting style and unconventional manner by which the game was constructed - from the surprisingly deep and, as they years went on, somewhat far-fetched storyline; to the vast roster of characters the game made available to its user. Want to play as a panda? How about a wooden stick man; or, if you're going to be really crazy, why not choose a freaky looking samurai whose sword bore a striking resemblance to a lightsabre?...

Capcom's crossover fighting game announcements didn't stop at "Marvel vs. Capcom 3" character reveals at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. The company hosted a panel that went beyond their own offices and unveiled "Street Fight X Tekken," which Capcom will produce and "Tekken X Capcom," which will come from Namco Bandai.
"The Street Fighter and Tekken development teams have a great relationship," Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada said, according to a Cvg report. "However, I see this new project not as a collaboration, but as the competition of the century between two legendary fighting game franchises."
The two game-makers will be taking a different approach to their crossover projects by producing competing games. Both sides seem to be ready to step into the ring though.
"This is history we're making," 'Street Fighter X Tekken' producer Yoshinori Ono said. "Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage.

This afternoon at the San Diego Comic Con, Capcom have announced Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The announcement was made by the producer of the game, Yoshinori Ono, and Tekken series director, Katsuhiro Harada. Commenting on the origins of this project Ono said:
This is history we’re making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn’t just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I’m going to give it my all.

Director of the popular, but not-as-popular-as-Soul-Caliber fighting game series, Tekken, Katsuhiro Harada, has revealed during a conference held in Madrid that Tekken 7 is in an early stage of production.
The conference, entitled “The Legend of Tekken” saw Harada talk about “the challenges and the technical capabilities and ideals that a project manager must possess to carry forward of such magnitude, involving more than 100 people during the development of each title.”
Interesting stuff that no doubt will have fans of Tekken will be pleased. I only had a passing interest in the series, but I can’t lie, pro-matches are really fun to watch. I would expect Harada to make a more formal announcement and possibly show a trailer during E3 2010. Though there is no confirmation, you can probably expect to see Tekken 7 hit arcades, Xbox 360, and PS3.
