Late on the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend, WarnerMedia did the unthinkable: they disappointed my mother.
At precisely 10:09 p.m. Et, the following text flashed across my phone screen “Omg. HBO is down! Too many people trying to watch Mare”
Sure enough, the anticipated finale for crime drama Mare of Easttown was not loading on the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max and it would remain inaccessible for around 25 minutes. The Internet reacted with disappointment similar to Mother Bojalad.
Everyone checking Twitter to confirm @hbomax is down during #MareOfEasttown finale. pic.twitter.com/xG4Ml7094R

How authentic is Mare of Easttown? HBO Max worked fine for me for six episodes but now is refusing to load for the seventh, in what I assume is a tribute to the Phillies' bullpen.

Kirk Ellis, who won an Emmy for penning the HBO miniseries John Adams, has been tapped to write Escape for Relevant Entertainment, say the trades. Katherine Heigl is attached to star and will produce along with her mother Nancy Heigl via their Abishag shingle. Escape tells the true story of Carolyn Jessop, who after years of being in a forced polygamous marriage escaped from the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints with her eight children. Ellis will be adapting Jessop's book. The project is being independently financed by Catherine Williams and her Como Court Productions. Williams also is acting as a producer. Ellis, who won another Emmy for Adams as co-executive producer, also garnered Emmy nominations for his work on the miniseries Into the West and for writing Anne Frank: The Whole Story.
