The councils are at war. If you pledge your loyalty to the Black Council, you can watch the Black Trailer. If you are a supporter of the Green Council, you can view the Green Trailer. Or if you’re just in excited anticipation of the new season of the Game of Thrones series, you can watch them both. HBO has just released two trailers, by way of Deadline, that tell of the upcoming civil conflict for the control of The Iron Throne. In October of 2022, the first season of House of the Dragon left audiences with a sense of impending war as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen found herself laced with rage and coming to a decision to battle for the throne. The second season suffered some delay due to last year’s dual union strikes, but wait no more. The Green and Black trailers showcase this season’s story from the...

House of the Dragon fans have been anxiously awaiting word on the release of season 2 of the fantasy series. It was previously reported that the series would debut sometime this summer, but that date has just been narrowed down a little more.
Warner Bros. Discovery streaming and gaming chief J.B. Perrette revealed (via Variety) that House of the Dragon season 2 will premiere on HBO in June but didn’t specify an exact date. The first season was a surprisingly big success for HBO, and I only say “surprisingly” because I honestly wasn’t sure if fans would be willing to return to Westeros after the disappointment following the Games of Thrones finale. Will the second season be able to keep the momentum going? HBO certainly hopes so, as they’re said to be actively developing seasons 3 and 4 of the series.

The creator behind the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon has given his verdict on the first two episodes of season two.
Writing on his Not a Blog website, George R.R. Martin related how he visited the set of what he termed “Hot D” for three days while it was being shot.
“All I have to say about that is… ohmigod! I am no stranger to film sets. I have worked off and on in television and film since 1986, where I joined the staff of the Twilight Zone revival at CBS. I still recall the rush where I saw them building Stonehenge on the sound stage behind my office, for an episode I’d written. And of course I visited the Game Of Thrones shoots in Belfast, Scotland, Morocco, and Malta. Those were incredible too.

The first trailer for the second season of House of the Dragon dropped over the weekend, but work is already underway on what will be seasons 3 and 4 of the HBO series.
George R.R. Martin took to his blog to write about a recent trip to London, which included a visit to the studio where House of the Dragon was shot. “I also spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal and his writing staff talking about the third and fourth seasons of House Of The Dragon,” Martin wrote. “They were lively, fun discussions, and we got some good work done… though two days was not nearly enough. There is so much ground to cover that I am not sure twenty days would have been enough.“

If there was ever an actor worthy of the distinction of "America's Sweetheart," it's Meg Ryan, who has been appearing in films since 1981. Effortlessly charming and with an often easygoing magnetism whenever she's on-screen, Ryan channels her natural talents effectively in romantic comedies and family-friendly fare. However, Ryan also possesses a much wider range than many give her credit for, delivering solid work in military dramas and character studies while occasionally branching out into hard science-fiction and fantasy.
Despite performing in dozens of film roles over the past 40-plus years, Ryan is one of her generation's more underrated actors. In fact, though millions of moviegoers adore her and her work, Ryan has yet to earn an Academy Award nomination of any kind. With that in mind, here are the 14 best Meg Ryan movies spanning her feature film career so far.

HBO’s “House of the Dragon” has cast the younger versions of two very important characters in the “Game of Thrones” prequel series: Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower.
Set 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” “House of the Dragon” tells the story of House Targaryen, the ancestors of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen. The series, which is based on “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” is set to debut in 2022.
Milly Alcock is set to play the part of Young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king’s first-born child. She is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider, per the character description. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man.

Pixar’s “Soul” and Cartoon Saloon’s “Wolfwalkers” swept Asifa-Hollywood’s 48th Annie Awards Friday night, with the former grabbing seven animated feature awards and the latter capturing five (plus the sponsored prize for “There’s a Monster in My Kitchen”).
The Black-led, existential fantasy “Soul” took best feature, writing, music, character animation, FX, storyboarding, and editorial. The hand-drawn Irish folk tale “Wolfwalkers” (co-produced by Apple Original Films) countered with best indie feature, direction (Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart), production design, character design, and voice acting (Eva Whittaker as Mebh).
Before sweeping the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and PGAs, “Soul” was already in a good position to win the Oscar. Now, after winning the top Annie prize, “Soul” is in a very comfortable position, with six of the last nine Annie winners agreeing with the Academy. This would mark Pixar’s 11th Oscar win for animated feature, and Docter’s third,...

Three years after the first movie theater reopened in Saudi Arabia – following removal of a religion-related ban – the kingdom has become the top theatrical market in the Middle East and is turning into a major driver for Arabic film production.
“At the moment Saudi is on a different path from the rest of the world,” says David Hancock, an analyst at London-based Omdia, which sees this new market as having the potential to be ranked among the top 10-15 territories for box office worldwide by 2024.
By 2024 Omdia estimates there will be 1,400 screens in Saudi Arabia, up from a current count of less than 300 screens in 2020 with more than 600 screens expected in 2021. In 2020 Saudi box office was up 3% to $115 million, bucking the downward trend in the rest of the world.

If there was ever an industry that needed saving this holiday season, it would be exhibition. And if there was anyone up for the job, who else but Wonder Woman? But Warner Bros.’ plan for a global theatrical roll-out of sequel “Wonder Woman 1984” ahead of a U.S. launch on HBO Max is a mixed blessing for cinema operators in Europe, where national lockdowns have tempered enthusiasm for a tentpole release amid the pandemic.
“Releasing ‘Wonder Woman’ in December is sheer madness; it’s insanity,” said one exhibition boss who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The executive deemed the studio’s international release plan, which begins Dec. 16 in countries including the U.K., France, Holland and Iceland, and continues through to Jan. 28 in Italy, the “worst commercial decision in a long time.”
European exhibitors are increasingly anxious about national lockdowns that have shuttered cinema chains in countries including the U.

Saudi Arabia Becomes Top Middle East Theatrical Market, Bucking Covid-Era Downward Trend (Exclusive)
While box office returns in 2020 will suffer an estimated 80% global drop due to Covid-19, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is bucking this downward trend, having grown since 2019 to become the Middle East’s top grossing territory this year to date.
Fresh figures released during the recent Meta Cinema Forum exhibitors’ conference reveal that Saudi Arabia this year has overtaken the United Arab Emirates and is currently the region’s top-grossing territory, with more than $73 million in theatrical movie ticket sales over the past 40 weeks — a roughly $2 million increase in box office returns compared with the same period in 2019.
The UAE during the same 2020 period has generated roughly $51 million, roughly a quarter of its 2019 box office draw.
“We believe that Saudi Arabia is the only cinema market globally to have expanded in 2020,” says Cameron Mitchell, CEO of prominent Middle East exhibitor Vox Cinemas, which is leading the way in Saudi. He...

The Writers Guild of America revealed its winners for the 72nd annual edition of its awards, which were held simultaneously at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and at the Edison Ballroom in New York City on February 1. About 15,000 WGA members vote on the best writing of the prior calendar year in an array of genres.
But beware Oscar predictors: Often a few film scripts nominated for an Academy Award are deemed ineligible. Only screenplays written under the guild’s guidelines or those of several international partners are allowed to vie for the WGA Awards. That accounts for its relatively low success rate at previewing the eventual Oscar nominees compared to the other guilds.

Season three of "The Crown" could well be the trickiest of all that we have seen so far, many had apprehended. This is where the story takes a leap, necessitating a radical overhaul in the cast.
The characters of the first two seasons have aged and, unlike what we are used to seeing on 'desi' soaps, the same set of young actors haven't returned in bad wigs and worse prosthetics. With the protagonists moving onto a new time frame, a new set of (older) actors has taken over the roles.
The big point of interest for 'Crownheads', in this context, is Olivia Colman stepping in to portray a middle-aged Queen Elizabeth II. She takes over the royal duties from Claire Foy, who portrayed the younger Queen over the first two seasons. And, never mind the fact that the Queen's eyes have suddenly changed colour, you realise Colman's Oscar-winning talent is...

Only a couple years ago, amid the rise of new media players like Netflix and a dip in the U.S. theatrical market, doomsayers began predicting that the big-screen experience had entered its endgame. But after one of the most astonishing weeks in box office history, the upcoming gathering in Cannes of film lovers and executives from around the world is taking on the air of movie-industry avengers assembling.
The colossal haul of “Avengers: Endgame” ($1.5 billion and counting) follows a second consecutive record year at the global box office, which raked in $41.1 billion in 2018. With more big-budget films set to hit multiplexes in the coming months, 2019 could extend that streak.
In good news for the domestic industry, the North American total of $11.9 billion also shattered the previous record. But 2018 offered further evidence that, far from being gravy, international takings are fast becoming the meant for Hollywood’s tentpoles, and even...

On day one at CinemaCon — the annual exhibitor convention at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas — disruptors were making rooms full of theater executives sit up and listen. “If your company has a chief data officer, raise your hand,” said one Palace ballroom moderator. Hardly any hands went up.
The theater owners ingested phrases like “conversion pixel” and “big data,” as they heard how crucial it is to collect, store and correctly interpret customer data. The disruptors at this year’s CinemaCon are not only the controversial online subscription service MoviePass (with its valuable data), but UK chain Cineworld’s hard-driving Israeli CEO, Moshe (Mooky) Greidinger, Mexico’s Cinépolis mogul Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, and South Korea’s Jeong Seo, CEO of Cj Cgv, which is building its own innovative high-tech theaters, including two in Los Angeles.
Truth is, “mature” North America won’t remain the number one box office market in the world for long.
