Some of the most popular and respected women in pro wrestling have mobilized for “Dresslemania II,” a fundraiser forged by “Grown-Ass Women (Gaw) TV” hosts Mickie James, Lisa Marie Varon (Victoria) and Valerie Wyndham (SoCal Val). The fierce ring trio has an important cause in mind, collaborating with Tag Me In United initiative for mental health. “Last year’s all-virtual Dresslemania raised almost $10,000 for Girl Up,” said Wyndham, referring to the United Nations-founded young woman’s leadership development program. “We thought to do a different charity every year. This year we wanted to honor our friend Daffney and do something related to mental health and awareness.” Daffney (Shannon Spruill), the onetime WCW champion, took her own life last September. Now through April 3 fans can bid on donated gowns and dresses via online auction from the likes of WWE Hall of Famer Molly Holly, Chelsea Green, Jordnynne Grace, Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer Gail Kim,...

Following its Oct. 20 pay-per-view event, “Bound for Glory,” Impact Wrestling is moving its weekly pro-wrestling show “Impact!” to Axs TV. The move was widely expected after Mark Cuban sold his majority stake in Axs to Impact owner Anthem Sports & Entertainment earlier this week.
We do not yet have a day and time for “Impact!” on Axs, which is also the home to New Japan Pro Wrestling and Wow – Women of Wrestling. The two-hour “Impact!” will continue to simulcast globally on Impact Wrestling’s official Twitch channel.
That time slot announcement is coming soon, we’re told.
In January, “Impact!” left Pop for the Pursuit Channel, an outdoor-focused network that was never the best fit — nor did it have the best distribution. Pursuit was technically available to 35 million homes; Axs distribution tops 50 million.

Welcome to this review of Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion Pay Per View, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have plenty of big matches to get to, so let’s see if it all turns out great.
Match #1: Ace Austin beat Eddie Edwards, Petey Williams, Jake Crist, Aiden Prince and Cousin Jake – 6 – Man Scramble Match
My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was all sorts of fantastic moves. Everybody had a dance partner if they wanted one, which helps things quite a bit. It’s a shame that Eddie got stuffed in this match at the last minute, but this definitely proves that Eli Drake is truly out of Impact, since he was supposed to wrestle Eddie originally. Hey, Petey got on PPV, so that’s another great piece of news. As for the match, this was the greatest hits kind of thing, but gloriously so. Over-all, Ace...

Impact Wrestling presented its Homecoming pay-per-view on Sunday night, returning home to the original stomping grounds of Tna Wrestling, the Asylum at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds.
Two new champions were crowned on the show, including another confusing main event where Johnny Impact defeated Brian Cage, but the live crowd didn't seem too thrilled with the result.
(1) Rich Swann def. Jake Crist, Ethan Page, Trey Miguel to win the X-Division Championship
Of course, they opened the show with the flippy spotfest match! That's Impact's M.O. and has been for a number of years, going all the way back to the Tna days, so it's appropriate to open with the X Division on a "homecoming" themed show.

This week’s Impact may not have been quite as unconscionably awful as many recent episodes, but it still served up the usual brand of hilarious, awful and bizarre moments, from EC3’s ever-entertaining mic skills, to that ear-assaultingly terrible commentary, some horrendous match finishes, cringe-worthy dancing and, of course, the usual technical peculiarities.
At least the World Title Series is edging closer to its more interesting stages, and next week the line-up for the final 16 will be unveiled, so it’ll especially be interesting to see who advancing Knockouts Gail Kim and Awesome Kong will be facing off against.
Tna fans know what to expect now week in and week out: it’s the car wreck you just can’t look away from.

Tna gets a lot of flack for taking talent WWE has fired. But they definitely don’t get the appreciation they deserve for building their own stars. Guys like Bobby Roode, Aj Styles, James Storm, Austin Aries, Samoa Joe, Magnus, and Eric Young have all been to the top of the mountain in Tna and have been great main eventers. Granted, some of the talent have made it big on the indies but Tna helped make them a household name and made them more familiar to the mainstream wrestling audience.
Tna also has a knack for taking a talent WWE has, some would say, misused, and make them into something you want to see. Take EC3 for example. Relegated to being a low card guy in WWE, he comes to Tna and shows he is worthy of the main event slot and worthy of a World Championship. Taryn Terrell...
Tna gets a lot of flack for taking talent WWE has fired. But they definitely don’t get the appreciation they deserve for building their own stars. It was announced on Wednesday that Tna’s Impact Wrestling is moving to the Destination America channel in the United States. Impact had previously aired on Spike TV from 2005. Their deal was up this year and Spike chose not to renew. That left Tna without a television home in the Us, so there were concerns about their future. Could they survive and in what capacity? What this news means is they will be on television in the Us for at least two more years, so the company isn’t going away.
Here’s some key info from their press release earlier today: “Discovery Communications announced today that it has signed a multi-year deal with Tna (Total Nonstop Action) Impact Wrestling to bring the popular league to homes nationwide on Destination America, the only network dedicated to celebrating the people, places and stories of the United States. It has been quite a busy time for the rumor mill the past few months with all the speculation that Spike TV is not going to renew Tna Impact, leaving the fate of the show and the company up in the air. Dixie Carter says things are “Ongoing”, but that just means that there still isn’t a deal in place.
With the fate of American’s No. 2 promotion looking grim, this leaves a lot of established talent with very few options. A lot of them have a good chance of making it in Ring of Honor, some Tna stars would de well in Japan, but most of them will probably attempt to make a case to WWE management. Unfrotunately for many of them, the time for a chance at a WWE contract has come and gone.

We’re less than 3 weeks away from Tna’s biggest event of the year. And for those living under a rock, but still with enough internet access to read this article, Tna have made this years event even bigger than ever before by holding it in Tokyo. This is their first ever major Pay Per View to be held outside of North America (One Night Only doesn’t count) and the fact that they are working together with The Great Mutas Wrestle-1 promotion, means this is set to be Tna’s most intriguing event in years.
Now Tna has come under a lot of fire from fans and critics alike over the years. It’s no secret that there have been many, many stumbles over their 12 year journey but there’s really no need to get into what most of us are already too familiar with.

World Wrestling Entertainment applied the tagline “Sexy, Smart and Powerful” to its Divas years ago and, for the most part, that has most certainly been the case. The women of WWE have proven to be able to mix it up between the ropes while entertaining audiences away from the squared circle. The company’s Total Divas reality show, airing on both E! and the WWE Network, is entering its third season and has been a big hit for all involved. While the show has done an excellent job of giving fans some insight into the dramatic lives of some of their favorite female performers, it has also given them an indication of just how tough and physically grueling the wrestling business can be. Both Nikki Bella and Naomi have had major injuries documented on the show and have fought back from them to continue their in-ring careers.

Every time we hear Michael Cole try to attach some sort of prestige to the WWE Divas Championship, it’s hard not to snicker a little. While it’s fair that Aj Lee’s 295-day title reign did help restore some sanity, there was a period where it seemed like every Diva on the roster was a former champ – and it almost was true.
At WrestleMania Xxvi in 2010, the Divas division was on full display in a 10-woman match that ended when the only non-wrestler in the bunch, Vickie Guerrero, hit a “hog splash” (as the announcers called it) for the win. What’s noteworthy is that all nine of the other Divas who participated in the match (Michelle McCool, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Layla, Beth Phoenix, Eve, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim) at one point or another held either the Divas Championship or the WWE Women’s Championship.

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.

I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

Impact Wrestling was back in Indiana, Pennsylvania for the second time and saw the building blocks being laid to the road to Slammiversary. Did it give me a reason to party over Tna’s birthday plans or will this party just be a bust? Well, let me tell you what I think.
Let’s begin with the opening segment, which saw Hulk Hogan apologize after months of doubting Sting. Sting says that’s water under the bridge and he wants to take the full offensive on Aces and Eights beginning next week in a six man tag. Hogan tells sting to pick whoever he wants for that squad, he has to decide who get the number one contender spot for Bully Ray in Boston. Matt Morgan comes out and says the shot should be his, Hogan says he’s not going to make mistakes anymore and just give someone the shot.

There’s a saying that everything is bigger in Texas and that proves to be true on this weeks impact from Corpus Christi, Texas. We even had the opening shown which never happens, usually on television. And to prove that, Hogan wants to talk to Hardy about his Full Metal Mayhem later tonight.
The action begins with the tag team title match two out of three falls as Austin Aries and Bobby Roode battle Hernandes and Chavo. The expectation at least in my opinion, is when two out of three falls happens it’s expected to have a long match. However, the first two falls of this match happened within the first five minutes. So why have the stipulation in the first place? If you don’t have time for it, why do it? That being said, the match was solid and everybody worked hard. It just felt very expedited.

In the home of Arkansas State University, Tna came into town and delivered a show that was odd to say the least. The matches and angles themselves were a little off but what puzzled me more was the fact that they basically came out and told you at the beginning of the show the next two weeks don’t matter as they set up to big title matches for the next April 11 in Corpus Christi, Texas. When you go ahead and say a title match is coming in two weeks the audience already checks out of what you’re saying because you’re basically telling them to tune out because the next few weeks really does not matter.
Now, I know with the new pay-per-view schedule that this was going to happen, but I didn’t think they would be so blatant in like a throwaway episode of Impact in the process.

Once again we make the return to the Impact Zone, and what do we have in store on the road towards Lockdown on March 10. It is the final night in the UK, and hopefully Tna will leave it in style with their own brand of quality wrestling and storytelling. Tonight will see more championship action for the lucky British fans, as Rob Van Dam defends his X Division Championship against the supremely confident Kenny King, and Tara has her back against the wall when she has to defend her Tna Knockouts’ Championship against three hungry challengers, namely Gail Kim, Brooke Tessmacher and Velvet Sky, in a four-way elimination match.
In addition to the championship action, we will see if Hulk Hogan finally gets the opportunity to name the Number One Contender for Jeff Hardy’s World Championship, or will he once again be interrupted by the force of Aces & Eights.

I wouldn’t consider myself a Tna fan by any means. I consider myself a casual fan of WWE TV these days, and I watch Tna even less. Impact is one of those shows that I may watch if I manage to catch it as it’s on freeview here in the UK. I’m pretty indifferent on their product to be honest. Tna figureheads Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan have made it quite clear in the past that they want to be the number one wrestling company in the world. They made this much clear when they went head-to-head with WWE Raw on Monday nights for a short while in 2010. Of course they want to be the number one company; why wouldn’t they? Tna have been around for ten years now, so what exactly is stopping them from becoming the number one organisation in pro-wrestling?

On Friday, WWE announced the release of former Divas Champion Kelly Kelly. There have been reports that Kelly had been rather disinterested with touring with the WWE, wanting to spend more time with her ice hockey boyfriend, and had been modelling under her real name, Barbie Blank. Kelly spent the last 6 years in the employment of the WWE, having started as a exhibitionist in the revamp Ecw. Much of her in-ring career was spent as a bit part player in a then much stronger women’s division. Despite this, she would become one of the more popular divas in during this time and would eventually become the face of the Diva division by 2011.
Kelly was by no means a brilliant in-ring worker, but Kelly had been the one of the few remaining ‘over’ divas in the WWE, and her release makes her the 5th female to be release from the...

Miss Tessmacher defeated Gail Kim to become the Tna Women’s Knockout Champion. This title changed ended Kim’s record 210-day run as champion. Christy Hemme appeared after the match to interview the new champion and Brooke called her victory “truly epic” and said, “God Bless America”.

Imagine if there was no WWE. Imagine if business had taken a nosedive after Vince McMahon bought out Ecw and WCW and he’d had to sell up. Seems unlikely doesn’t it, but just imagine. No John Cena. No Monday Night Raw. No Wrestlemania. That’s right – with no Wrestlemania to look forward to the biggest event on the wrestling calendar would be presented by Tna Impact Wrestling. The biggest PPV of the year would be Slammiversary. Just imagine.
So with that in mind, let’s take a look at what Tna has to offer for this Sunday’s live event.
Hernandez Vs Kid Kash
I haven’t been watching a lot of Tna’s programming recently so I have to say I’m oblivious to why this match is taking place. I would assume it’s because Kid Kash is a) awesome and b) a ‘veteran’ from Tna’s past.

When Food Network chef Robert Irvine married pro wrestler Gail Kim on May 10, he had planned a night of surprises for his bride-to-be. "He wanted to give me the fairy tale wedding," Kim, 35, tells People, adding that she knew nothing more than the location, time and date. "I didn't know the colors of my wedding or what my bouquet would look like! But I trusted his taste." A horse-drawn carriage picked up Kim for a brief tour around the vineyard of California's Charles Krug Winery before her debut in front of 160 friends and family members. Super-fit Food Network star Robert Irvine has met his match - in both heart and physique. On Thursday, Restaurant: Impossible host Irvine, 46, wed professional wrestler Gail Kim, 35, in Napa Valley, Calif. Kim is the reigning titleholder of the Tna (Total Nonstop Action) Women's Knockout Championship. Also a former WWE Women's champion, she once wrestled under the ring name "La Felina." The couple met on the set of Irvine's show, Dinner: Impossible. The British chef handled all the logistics of wedding planning, leaving his bride-to-be with one assignment: to show up looking "as beautiful as she always does," he has said.

Tna have gone off the Twitter deep end. Last night’s Victory Road event was a near 3-hour advert for Social Networking. The usual trending topics flashed up on screen, but it didn’t end there. We had a Victory Road hash tag banner, Tweets displayed on the screen backstage that Jeremy Borash asked questions from, a tweet during a competitive match (by Austin Aries) and to top it all off, the commentators did Not Stop talking about it all night. They completely ignored the flow of the match and the calling of moves to instead read out generic tweets from @Velvetskysknockers or whomever they could find that had something positive to say about their show. I shouldn’t be mentioning Twitter first Ever in a wrestling review, but it really was That overpowering. It was enough to make me want to mute my TV, and I haven’t done...

Yes folks, it’s Tna PPV time again and we’ve had a look into our crystal ball to see who will be upsetting who and who has all the gold when the dust has settled.
Over the last few months we’ve seen the slow build of Robert Roode as a legit heel World Champion despite knowing in our heart of hearts that he’s only carrying the title while Tna build James Storm into the new Super-Face of the company. This weeks opening segment revolved around the Garrett Bischoff lightning push. Imagine how much someone who’s last name wasn’t Bischoff could benefit from getting a rub from both Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan at once. Garrett showed up despite being warned not to, just to show how brave he is. Kurt Angle made himself available as a partner for Gunner to face Garrett and a partner of his choosing, his reason being that he always respected his parents and that led him to a gold medal. “Immortal” bragged that Garrett would be on his own in the main event against both. But who would possibly team up with such a rookie? Maybe someone who has a problem with Kurt Angle? Of course it turned out to be Jeff Hardy, who has taken his face paint to a whole other idiot level this week again.
