The Dragon Ball saga has left fans mesmerized to the core through the original manga created by Akira Toriyama sensei and the anime adaptations that followed. However, despite being such a massive fan-favorite that almost everyone loves, the story failed to deliver perfectly in its first and last Hollywood live-action adaptation to date from 2009, which starred Justin Chatwin in the lead.
Dragonball Evolution (2009).
In fact, one of the most hated and criticized elements of the Dragonball Evolution film was the fact that Chatwin was chosen to play Son Goku, whose performance also didn’t sit well with fans. Demon Slayer’s popularity has been constantly rising since it first began its serialization. It got a further boost in its popularity when it was adapted into an anime. The plot revolves around Tanjirou Kamado, whose family was killed by the Demon King. Later, he joins the Demon Slayer Corps and goes on a journey to avenge his family. Apart from the story, it was the animation that stood out the most.
Demon Slayer season one mostly covered the Water Breathing Style. Several characters from season one was shown to use it, including Tomioka Giyu and Urokodaki Sakonji. Even the main protagonist also trained to learn the Water Breathing Style. Considering that the sword and magic genre, which now includes the whole isekai concept, has become the prevalent genre within the anime world, with the entries in the category coming one after the other, it is always a pleasure to find ones that truly stand out. “Frieren” Beyond Journey's End”, based on the manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe is definitely one of those titles, particularly due to its rather unusual premise.

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End ended in March, after just six months on the air and a mere 28 episodes, which is not nearly enough for this marvelous series. The season ended with the phrase “The Journey to Ende Continues,” which many fans have taken as a confirmation of a second season, especially since it has been used in many other released videos and images. Having said all of this, a second season is basically a sure thing despite no explicit official confirmation, and while fans are waiting for new information, the series is on a break. But that doesn’t mean that we’re done with Frieren, as we have more exciting news to report.
Character popularity polls are nothing strange in the world of manga and anime. Fans are able to cast their votes (on a one-person-one-vote basis) to determine which characters from a series are the most popular.

The Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime just completed its first season, teasing a second season, although without a proper release date. At the same, the manga is going on a short break until April. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End became probably the biggest hit of the Fall 2023 / Winter 2024 season, surpassing even major titles like Solo Leveling and Blue Exorcist. A new “Demon Slayer” film is about to hit the multiplex, and while “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — To the Hashira Training” contains plenty of familiar material for those who have already watched the show, it’s a little bit of a slog even if you’re already a fan.
When “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Mugen Train” dethroned “Spirited Away” as the highest-grossing Japanese film in history after it debuted in theaters and slowly rolled out to the rest of the world in early 2021, it was the first time the “Demon Slayer” anime was on the radar of most non-fans. Heavy on lore and light on any explanation as to what was actually going on—Who are these people? Why are they on a train? Are demons just ugly vampires with superpowers?—“Mugen Train” was a rough ride for anyone not already deep into “Demon Slayer”’s whole thing.

The third episode of Ishura introduced us to two new characters, and there was a build-up for the show, connecting Dakai’s character with the mayhem in Nagan. Apart from Dakai, there was Regnejee, the leader of the wyverns, who, technically speaking, was introduced in the previous episode, but in the latest episode, we get to see his backstory and how he had become Taren’s asset after saving her daughter Curte. Similarly, we had just heard about Taren in the previous episode, but we had a proper introduction showing us how she had resolved to fight against the Aureatian Secret Service and the outlaws they were hiring to loot the cargo heading toward Lithia. The series seems to be taking its time to set up its characters, given that there are so many contenders for the spot of the true Demon King. Little by little, the world of Ishura...

The world of Ishura is filled with magnificent creatures, and they all will be vying for the spot of the hero of heroes in Aureatia. In the second episode of the anime, we shifted focus from Soujirou Yagyuu, the swordsman, and went to explore other heroes in the world. The main focus of this episode was Asul, the Star Runner, a wyvern who grew in power because of his special weapons. There was also a connection between Asul and the Giant Labyrinth, which Soujirou had defeated in Nagan. But before all that happened, there was a subplot where the wyverns attacked a chariot that was carrying a spy named Lana and was on the way to Lithia, a territory challenging the control of Aureatia.

The anime series Ishura narrates the story of a girl named Yuno, who embarks on a new journey when her friend Lucelles gets killed. The story is definitely based in an alternate reality where people from Earth are known as the ‘Visitors,’ and one such Visitor features in this episode. The anime is a mixture of the sci-fi genre with the epic samurai journeys we have seen in Japanese cinema. It generates a lot of interest through the exciting juxtaposition and the first episode leaves just enough mystery to keep us hooked for the entire season to unfold.

Director Keishi Ohtomo returns to feudal Japan with his newest picture, “The Legend and Butterfly.” Having concluded the live-action “Rurouni Kenshin” film series, Ohtomo shifts gears for his latest feature, focusing more on real Japanese history, albeit with a heavily fictitious spin in a screenplay by Ryota Kosawa. The story deals with the rise and fall of Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga and explores his relationship with his wife, Nohime. This feature wouldn't be the first time Lord Nobunaga has been depicted in film or television. Still, with a big budget and an all-star cast, this epic was set to sweep away audiences and the box office while commemorating the 70th-anniversary celebration of Toei Company. Yet, despite a strong opening, it quickly dwindled in popularity and was met with mixed reception.
