Mohamed Bangura has returned to Lennoxtown Training Centre following his 1 year loan trip at Elfsborg, and the man from Sierra Leone has quite a bit to answer for. I’ll try not to criticise Mo too harshly, he plays for our green and white Hoops after all and we Celtic fans don’t like to put our own players down. However, it’s fair to say he’s been one of our more controversial signings. Despite Lennon giving Bangura his full backing recently, are the fans going to welcome him back as easily?
It’s been just over 20 months since Bangura last played for Celtic (in a 1-0 win over St Johnstone, 3rd May 2012) due to his loan stints over in Sweden, but he has not exactly proven much of the hype that surrounded him as he became a Celtic player back in...

Manchester United are said to be targeting Swedish striker Jordan Larsson, the son of legendary Celtic front-man Henrik Larsson, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 16-year-old striker, shown pictured with his Dad ten years ago during Spl celebrations, is currently playing for Swedish fourth division club Hodaborks Bk, and could follow his dad’s footsteps in becoming a United player if the interest is maintained. The move could be completed as soon as this month, and young Jordan would join the academy ranks should a deal be concluded.
The interest in the player appears to be long-standing, with United, Manchester City, and Liverpool linked to the player over a year ago, and it remains to be seen whether other top English and European clubs attempt to compete for his signature. The player has trained with Fc Barcelona in the past; being a part...

As an actor there are often opportunities that arise whereby you can fulfil your lifelong ambitions, or at least to pretend to. Whether that be to fly to the moon, or wield a pistol in a Southern American desert, it’s a profession where actors can fulfil those dreams they had as young children. And for Gerard Butler he has done just that, playing as a professional footballer for his boyhood club Celtic in Gabriele Muccino’s Playing for Keeps.
Playing for Keeps follows the tale of George Dryer, a former footballer who, following a career-ending injury, is now washed up with little money nor prospects. However, when he takes over his sons’ football team, he hopes for the opportunity to finally form a bond between the two and start afresh – until the soccer moms start throwing themselves at him.
Butler discusses with us what it was like to pretend to be a Celtic player,...

The start of the season saw doom and gloom for Arsenal fans as pundits and other fans were quick to write off their title chances after an uninspiring (and frankly worrying) first few results, but Arsene Wenger appears to be pulling his ship in the right direction now. An impressive goal haul from Robin Van Persie has gone some way to turning the tide, but Arsenal’s recent manifesto for team play doesn’t fit with that dynamic, and Wenger must either convince fans and critics that this new way is the way to success, or he must invest in quality to finally make Arsenal a contender again.
Arsenal aren’t as broken as some commenters might like us all to believe – particularly those affiliated with north London rivals Tottenham – they certainly still have a lot of quality, they simply don’t have the experience or steel at the minute...

Actor Gerard Butler jetted back to his native Scotland on Tuesday to play a charity soccer match to raise funds for victims of the East African drought.
The 300 hunk joined the Celtics team, which included legendary players Henrik Larsson, Neil Lennon and John Hartson, for the game against the retired Manchester United squad, whose all-star additions were comic Patrick Kielty and boxer Nigel Benn.
The two teams battled it out in front of 50,000 fans at Celtic Park in Glasgow - where Butler grew up - and the star helped his side win with a final score of 5-2.
The money raised from ticket sales will go to Oxfam's East Africa crisis appeal, benefiting the millions of people left without food after the continent was hit by one of the worst droughts in its history.
