After my chat with Judy Greer I've been feeling homesick for Detroit. Or maybe it's just the ghost of Christmases past floating about though I haven't done a Christmas in Michigan in years. So what a perfect day for the Detroit Film Critics to announce their winners! The Artist is no sweeper but it's proving to be a formidable competitor on the critical map. A nice surprise from Detroit is the solid support afforded Shame which took two of the six acting prizes.
Picture The Artist
Director Michel Hazanavicius, The Artist
Screenplay Moneyball
Documentary Tabloid
...and the acting prizes
Actress Michelle Williams, My Week With Marilyn
Actor Michael Fassbender, Shame
Supporting Actress Carey Mulligan, Shame
Supporting Actor Christopher Plummer, Beginners
Breakthrough Performances Jessica Chastain
Ensemble Carnage
How amazing is this ad for Shame from a UK paper I believe?
Since I used to live in the Detroit area, I know...

Kitty Kelley hasn’t necessarily received the open-arm treatment from the media as she works to promote her controversial new book, “Oprah: A Biography.” David Letterman, Charlie Rose, Larry King and the ladies of “The View” are just a few of the folks who turned down opportunities to interview Kelley, for fear that they might land on Oprah’s bad list.
Well, Detroit radio host Warren Pierce isn’t scared of the Queen of All Media, so he’s having Kelley on his talk show today.
Kelley is scheduled for a call-in interview on “The Warren Pierce Show” on Wjr-am 760, according to the Detroit Free Press. Pierce will discuss Kelley’s book, as well as the media backlash she is experiencing.
Pierce’s producer, Rachel Nevada, told the Free Press, “Kitty Kelley’s book, ‘Oprah,’ and the media blackballing of the author, is one of this week...
