The epic battle between a determined police chief and a dangerous mobster inflames 1940s Los Angeles in TNT’s eagerly anticipated television event Mob City (formerly known as Lost Angels), from Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead), who wrote and directed the pilot and serves as executive producer on the series. Based on the critically acclaimed book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City, by John Buntin, Mob City opens in post-war Los Angeles, home to glamorous movie stars, powerful studio heads and returning war heroes. But it’s also a city caught between a powerful and corrupt police force and an even more dangerous criminal network determined to make L.A. its West Coast base. Los Angeles Police Chief William Parker (Neal McDonough — Captain America,...

Frank Darabont got The Walking Dead on its way before he was fired. Unsurprisingly he’s back to work on another project, the series formally known as Lost Angels, Mob City.
The first trailer offers us a nice peek at the stylized show although doesn’t offer us a lot in terms of plot. That said, I do love old school gangster stories so I will definitely be checking this series out.
Yes, that is Simon Pegg. I had to look it up to be sure.
Mob City stars Jon Bernthal, Milo Ventimiglia, Jeffrey DeMunn, Alexa Davalos, Neal McDonough, Robert Knepper, Edward Burns, and premieres on December 4th.

Happy birthday to Graham Norton, who turns 48 today, and Heath Ledger, who would've been 32. Bravo has renewed Watch What Happens Live for a fifth season, which means we get another year of Andy Cohen trying to get Housewives drunk on camera (which admittedly, isn't difficult). Oxygen has three new series in development, the most intriguing of which is Lost Angels, which follows the life of Chloe Lattanzi, the daughter of icon Olivia Newton-John. Chloe holds a special place in my heart for gloriously massacring every song she performed on the reality competition Rock The Cradle. In what may be the death knell for gay bookstores, The Castro's A Different Light is shutting its doors. If you can't have a gay bookstore there, is there any hope? Here's the new poster for Torchwood: Miracle Day. I was afraid they were going to emphasize the American cast over John and that one...

Former Today show sweetheart Katie Couric has reportedly made the decision to vacate her anchor post at CBS Evening News after just five years.
While both the network and reps for Couric have yet to confirm the news, a CBS bigwig tells the AP that the journalist has chosen not to renew her Evening News contract when it expires in June, and is currently in talks with, among others, ex-nbc exec Jeff Zucker to launch a syndicated talk show in 2012.

Oxygen announced that it has three new series in development Monday, along with its upcoming overall schedule. The new reality offerings include "Maids of Drama," which will follow "out of control bridesmaids in the weeks leading up to one frazzled but fabulous wedding day"; "Lost Angels," which will star Olivia Newton-John's daughter Chloe Lattanzi as she and her female posse run wild in the streets of Hollywood; and "My Post Grad Life," in which two groups of women co-habitate and help each other navigate life after college. The cable outlet also...

Would you watch a Kyle Richards-less 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'?
The Bravo show has been renewed for a second season, but the cast contracts aren't finalized. While past speculation has focused on Camille Grammer as the housewife most likely to pass on season 2, Richards told E! Online this weekend that she wasn't sure if she'd definitely return to the show.
"We're not really sure who's coming back yet, so we'll see," she told E!. "Right now we're deciding. It's a family decision between my husband, my kids and I, and we have a little time to decide and I'm kind of deciding what I want to do."
Bravo usually doesn't comment on cast decisions until right before the seasons premiere.

Oxygen Media, which will hold its upfront presentation in New York later today, has put three more docu-series in the development pipeline, surprisingly, none of them featuring Tori Spelling: Maids of Drama (working title) which focuses on bridal parties gone awry; Lost Angels (wt), which follows Chloe Lattanzi, daughter of pop icon Olivia Newton-John; and My Post Grad Life (wt), a look at the year after college graduation. In addition, Hair Battle Spectacular, which became the most-watched freshman series in Oxygen history, has been renewed for a second season with new host model/actor Eva Marcille. Oxygen also announced premiere dates for two new series, The World According to Paris (June 1) and The Glee Project (June 12), whose premiere episode will feature Glee standout Darren Criss as a guest mentor. With The Glee Project, Oxygen is opening a new night of original programming on Sunday. Here are descriptions of Oxygen's...

The 8th annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is all set to run for ten days this Feb. 11-20 in Missoula, Montana. This year, the fest will have a whopping 140 film programs, a growth that necessitates an expansion from its regular home at the Historic Wilma Theatre — where it will occupy two screens — to also feature screenings at the former Pipestone Mountaineering store.
Special events at the fest include a free opening night screening of How to Die in Oregon sponsored by HBO Documentary Films. The film, directed by Peter D. Richardson, examines the impact the legalization of physician-assisted suicide has had on the state. (In 1994, Oregon was the first state to legalize the practice.)
Also, indie rock band Yo La Tengo will perform their acclaimed live score of the films of pioneering French underwater documentary film director Jean Painlevé, something they have done for other film festivals all over the world.

Like the headline says, the complete lineup for the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival has been announced and it's a fascinating, eclectic mix. How happy am I to see music doc Separado! in there? Pretty damn happy, as it's one of my absolute favorites of the year and has been resoundingly overlooked. Read the complete announcement below!
