Michael Lassiter Jr., known also as Sensei MJ, is an American martial artist, fight choreographer, screenwriter and action/film director.
Michael (Sensei MJ) has had over 18 years of experience training in martial arts, now 11 years in teaching as a private instructor, fight choreographer, and martial arts trainer. He once was able to converse and gain film related advice from Jeff Imada (Fight Coordinator for Furious 7). Sensei MJ was beyond elated at meeting the one and only Jeff Imada as he had been a longtime fan of his action work in Bourne Ultimatum and as an overall 30+ year stunt veteran. He also learned dynamic footwork in stunt fighting from Wesley Snipes(Blade) and fight action for the camera from Chad Menendez( stunt coordinator for Power).
Always focused on "safety first", Sensei MJ also trains actors. In his trademarked 'Fight 4 Film' TM workshops, held less than 3 times a year, he teaches participants the foundations and dynamics of action scenes in film and television productions. Students who have completed his workshops have launched further into their careers, being able to obtain various credits such as Marvel and TNT productions, as well as key roles in independent feature films.
In 2019, Sensei MJ was inducted at the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Honors and received the Who's Who Legend in the Martial Arts Award. He was also inducted in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2021 and he continues to present the entertaining blend of realistic martial arts, safety, entertainment and dynamic angles for film and tv.
