London -- Miptv will launch a stand-alone format conference and pitching forum ahead of this year's Cannes-based TV sales market in April, organizers said Wednesday.
Launched in partnership with C21 Media, the inaugural event will take place April 11, ahead of the market that runs April 12-16, Reed Midem acting TV head Laurine Garaude said, describing it as "a critical platform and rendez-vous point" for the estimated $4.5 billion format industry.
"Understanding how to approach this fast-changing sector is essential for anyone serious about turning a local idea into an international hit," Garaude added. C21 Media Editor in Chief David Jenkinson said that the even would "create a unique event that puts formats into perspective" comprising conferences, pitching sessions, networking events and new format launches.
