For the third time, “The Tick” is on TV. Amazon Prime brought the comic superhero back earlier this year, and the second half of the show’s first season is set to premiere early next year. Unless you’re a Patrick Warburton purist who refuses to give this latest iteration a chance, avail yourself of the new trailer below.

Here’s the unusually long synopsis:
“In a workaday world where superheroes fly among us, mild-mannered accountant Arthur Everest (Griffin Newman) suspects The City is controlled by a fabled villain known as The Terror (Jackie Earle Haley), despite evidence of The Terror’s death 15 years ago. Arthur has a traumatic connection with The Terror, whose movements he has obsessively tracked since childhood. Arthur’s sister, Dot (Valorie Curry), is a paramedic...

Winter is coming…to Amazon. Variety has the details on several new series coming to the streaming platform, which is hoping to “find shows that deliver sizzle in the water-cooler environs of social media and can travel around the world” in much the same way that “Game of Thrones” does. The most exciting of these projects is “Tong Wars,” which will be directed by Wong Kar-wai.

1. “BoJack Horseman” Season 4 (available September 8)
Why Should I Watch It? “BoJack Horseman” transcends animation, comedy, and any other genre you want to put it in. Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s story of a horse looking for significance in all the wrong places — Hollywoo to be literal, fame and fortune on a figurative level — delves into deadly serious topics like drug overdose, depression, and alcoholism while still finding time to make endless animal puns and elicit deep belly laughs. It’s goofy, fun, exciting, poignant, and profound, often all at once. Don’t miss “BoJack.”
Best Episode: Though there are no spoilers in her review, IndieWire TV Editor Liz Shannon Miller watched all 12 episodes of Season 4 and says “maybe [Episode] 2” is the best of the lot. She also noted “they are all my children,” in a rather creepy bid to imply every episode is quite good. Enjoy.

Heading into Season 4 of Netflix’s “BoJack Horseman,” it’s understandable to be a little unsure about the show’s direction.
Unlike past installments of the animated series created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, there was no obvious arc to hook the action. Season 1 revolved around former ’90s sitcom star BoJack (voiced by Will Arnett) collaborating with writer Diane (Alison Brie) on his memoir; Season 2 focused on the production of BoJack’s dream project “Secretariat”; Season 3 followed BoJack’s subsequent journey through the Hollywoo (not Hollywood) awards season.
When it came to the fourth season, the end of Season 3 put into motion a few key future storylines – but left BoJack himself totally adrift. It’s a choice that fit perfectly with the show’s at times bleak and existential outlook on life, but one that meant Season 4 would begin as a relatively unknown quantity.

The Tick is as inherently likable as his name is absolutely unappealing. The big blue superhero of inexplicable origins and incredible strength is more like a lovable puppy than the bloodsucking arachnid found on them. He’s instantly endearing, and the more time spent with The Tick, the more love is felt for the pure-of-heart and utterly clueless crusader.
The Tick doesn’t know anything: where he’s from, how old he is, or even if he’s wearing a costume — the costume might be part of him! (In fact, referring to The Tick as a “he” may not be accurate, either.) But none of that matters. All that matters is justice. He just wants to do the right thing, at all times, while making everybody happy. His perpetual joy is infectious (again, like a puppy) and every time The Tick pops up, you know you’re only seconds away from a smile.

New York is getting a new landmark. Landmark Theatres announced today that it’s set to open its newest location, the Landmark at 57 West, which will live up to its name and span the block between 11th and 12th Avenues on 57th Street. So the Tick is back! Seriously. The big blue guy with antenna is ready for a full-blown return to television, and whether or not he makes it is up to you. Amazon will unveil the pilot for a new version of the character beginning August 19th and, as with all their pilots, viewer response will determine whether or not it spawns a series. “In a world where superheroes have been real for decades,” offers Amazon, “an underdog accountant with zero powers comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain long-thought dead. As he struggles to uncover the conspiracy, he falls in league with a strange blue superhero.” That hero (previously voiced by Townsend Coleman in a 1994-96 animated series, and played by Patrick Warburton in the 2001 live action version) is portrayed by Peter Serafinowicz. Griffin Newman is the aforementioned accountant, Arthur Everest; Jackie Earle Haley is The Terror,...

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are obviously approaching their cinematic universe of heroes and villains differently than Marvel Studios, but one thing seems like it'll remain the same: there will be characters that crossover and connect one film to another. Ben Affleck's Batman is going to show up in Suicide Squad, there are rumors that Jared Leto's Joker will make an appearance in Batman v Superman (although that scene may have been left on the cutting room floor, if it ever existed in the first place), and now actor Henry Cavill has teased a possible appearance of Superman in the upcoming Wonder Woman solo film.
Cavill gave a brief interview with Brazilian magazine Superinteressante and was asked whether he'd show up in Suicide Squad alongside Affleck's Batman:
“Not in ‘Suicide Squad.”
That makes sense, considering Suicide Squad seems more like a rough-and-tumble movie that wouldn't need to include a god-like hero.

Executive Producer Ali Adler has discussed the role of Superman in the upcoming Supergirl series on CBS...
One of the big questions when the first Supergirl trailer landed a few months ago was the matter of Superman. We'd already heard that a body-double for The Big Blue Boy Scout had been sought, but the trailer only showed him in an obscured form, and the word 'Superman' was never uttered. Would we only see his outline, then? Would Supes only be referred to as 'my cousin' for the duration of the show?
Now, executive producer Ali Adler has opened up about Superman's role in the show, and it would seem that he will indeed be quite peripheral to proceedings. "Our prototype is the way the president is seen on Veep," Adler said, referring to a show that rarely shows Potus, but mentions him a lot. By the way, er, Sue? Did the President call?...

Although Batman has had the most big screen versions of his character (more on that here), Superman surely holds the record for most re-castings once you add his vast television history into the equation. From Smallville to television musicals via Man Of Steel and old-school cinematic serials, The Big Blue Boy Scout sure has got around over the years.
Of course, the iconic Christopher Reeve holds the record for most filmic appearances, and remains to many film fans The Superman. Henry Cavill is surely after both of those accolades, even if the former seems the more likely goal.
While we wait for Cavill’s Supes to receive a post-Metropolis-levelling ass-whupping from Affleck’s Batman, then, let’s have a look at the actors...

Anyone who loves Superman knows that director Tim Burton almost followed up his successful adaptation of Batman by bringing The Big Blue Boy Scout to the big screen as well. Nicolas Cage was once meant to play the superhero with a script from fanboy favorite filmmaker Kevin Smith. It was a weird production with the likes of Chris Rock playing Jimmy Olsen and Kevin Spacey once on board as Lex Luthor, way before Superman Returns came knocking at his door for the same role. Now the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? Warner Bros has announced nine new comic book movies over the next couple of years, but what could they be?
With the news dropping recently that Warner Brothers have set plans for nine DC comics-inspired movies, it looks like we might finally see some further exploration of DC’s wide-reaching universe.
Since Richard Donner invented a genre with Superman: The Movie in 1978, DC has always played it relatively safe, mainly sticking to Superman and Batman sequels and reboots. On the other hand, Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios have pushed forward with such confidence that they are now making standalone movies for lesser-known heroes like Ant-Man and the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Despite having their fingers burnt on the dissapointing Green Lantern movie, the lure of cashing in on Avengers Assemble levels of success has clearly forced Warner Brothers into action, with building a...

The Death of Superman is a 155 page graphic novel which ties together the events of Doomsday!, an iconic Superman arc written by a mammoth 12 authors, which originally ran across several different titles in 1992.
Described on the cover as ‘the best-selling graphic novel of all time’, although Watchmen might since have nabbed that title, this arc sees Superman truly beaten to the point of death, as you might have guessed. The unstoppable force that brings this about is a seemingly mindless killing machine Doomsday, truly one of the strongest foes to ever face Superman.

Ever since Warner Bros. decided to move Batman vs. Superman to a May 6th, 2016 release date, people have been wondering whether or not Marvel would move their previously staked out mystery film from that same date. Well, earlier today, SlashFilm had word from Marvel's Kevin Feige that they wouldn't be budging in the potential box office battle, and an announcement as to what film would fill that slot would be coming in the next few months. Now THR has learned that it will be the gestating Captain America 3 that will arrive in May of 2016. Yes, Captain America will face off against The Big Blue Boy Scout. More below! This makes sense since January brought news that Anthony & Joe Russo, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, would be back to direct Captain America 3, and the duo was already working on a treatment for the sequel. For those who don't know, it's Superman's 75th anniversary, and to commemorate The Big Blue Boy Scout, Warner Bros. Animation teamed up with Man of Steel director Zack Snyder for a cool little animated short that quickly and cleverly covers the expansive pop culture history of Superman. With help from "Superman: The Animated Series" creator Bruce Timm, this short starts with the hero's debut in Action Comics #1 and moves through things like "Super Friends," the big screen adventure in Richard Donner's 1978 film Superman, the popular series "Smallville" and, of course, this year's Man of Steel. Here's the Superman 75th Anniversary animated short from DC Comics: Even though this is only two minutes, it's packed full of Superman goodies, and that animation is just spectacular. Now that most of the knee-jerk negativity has died down after Warner Bros. announced Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in Man of Steel 2 (or Superman vs. Batman), it's time to start getting into the details of this new Caped Crusader and how he'll interact with The Big Blue Boy Scout. At an investor meeting, Variety reports Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara hyped up the new film going into production with Zack Snyder behind the camera early next year. First addressing the negative opinion of Affleck, Tsujihara said the actor is "perfect" for this Batman, adding the obvious, "We think it’s going to be huge." Honestly, even if Warner Bros. cast Carrot Top as Batman, this was still going to be a big movie (some fans might even prefer that considering his muscle mass nowadays). But the real focus now should be on what kind of Batman we're going to be dealing with.

We're starting to get into Man of Steel overload territory, so we're going to slow down the hype. But these two new character posters, following yesterday's spotlight on Russell Crowe as Jor-El looking like a bad ass on his own poster, are just too cool to ignore. Superman and General Zod each stand tall, but while The Big Blue Boy Scout played by Henry Cavill looks heroic, the menacing villain brought to life by Michael Shannon seems to be in restraints. While we're getting a lot of posters for this comic book film, we're just happy that Warner Bros. isn't so desperate to give Lois Lane (Amy Adams) her own poster like this. Look! "Man of Steel" ain't gonna be your daddy's "Superman," k?
A new TV spot for the super-serious Zack Snyder rendition of The Big Blue Boy Scout reinforces the December trailer's message that Henry Cavill will be presenting one heavy-hearted, stern-faced son of a gun in this movie, as he searches for his place in a world which he maybe doesn't belong to. Or does?
His Clark Kent is on the hunt for many answers, not the least of which is the origin of his massive strength and invincibility, but his earthly parents - an aged Diane Lane and Kevin Costner - aren't too terribly helpful. In fact, daddy dearest serves him extra helping of ambiguity in the instruction: "You just have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be, Clark. Whoever that man is, it's going to change the world."

It's 2013, which means this is finally the year for Superman to rise to the big screen again in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel (watch the most recent stunning trailer right here). That also means we'll finally know whether or not Snyder's take on The Big Blue Boy Scout will be the same version taking to the skies along with the superhero ensemble Justice League, which Warner Bros is still hoping to release in 2015. Well, someone at Cosmic Book News has a source at DC Entertainment that has revealed a few details on the superhero line-up that will be used. It's basically the line-up that everyone would expect from DC Comics. Here's the information that Cosmic Book News (via Superhero Hype) rounded up: • Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character. • Batman: The strategist of the group.

A mysterious eyeball has washed up on a beach in the Us, leaving scientists baffled as to where it came from. The big blue eyeball was found by a man named Gino Covacci on Pompano Beach, Florida. Covacci told Florida's Sun Sentinel newspaper that he kicked the stange object along the beach when he first saw it, until he realised what it was. "It was very, very fresh, it was still bleeding when I put it in the plastic bag," he recalled. Covacci notified a police officer, who then gave him the phone number for the Florida (more)...

So far only a first look photo and a dark logo for Man of Steel have been revealed, but hot on the heels of some stunning footage from Zack Snyder's new take on The Big Blue Boy Scout (check out our video blog for our reaction), the first official teaser poster for the film has finally surfaced. This poster was handed out at Comic-Con and signed by Snyder and Superman himself, Henry Cavill, but you'll just have to settle for the poster on its own. It's got Superman in some film noir style lighting, and it echoes the surprising subtlety from the footage shown at Comic-Con that we're not used to seeing from a Zack Synder film. Look! Here's the first teaser poster for Zack Snyder's Man of Steel from the film's Facebook page: In Zack Snyder's Superman, Henry Cavill plays the new Clark Kent, who goes toe-to-toe with General Zod,...

Jeffrey Dean Morgan may be one of the hottest draws on television this spring. The actor best known for playing Denny Duquette on the ABC hit Grey's Anatomy, has been generating buzz for his highly anticipated new drama series, Magic City, which debuts on Starz this week.
But when asked whether it's been tenacity or veracity that helped fuel a surprisingly robust mid-career boom, he happily admits that it's the latter.
"I'm easy to get along with -- I'm not a diva," Morgan admits with a laugh. "I'm just a happy guy."
True, but few actors pull off "happy" with such ease. Morgan's cheerful man's man/everyman persona certainly turned heads and warmed hearts when he played the ill-fated Denny (Izzie's beau) on Grey's (2006-09). But then he surprised critics by packing a studly creative punch on the big screen as a lead player in the box office hit The Watchmen.

Hello all you crazy-awesome ComicMix fans. For those who don’t know me (and when you share a space with guys like Mike Gold, John Ostrander, Martha Thomases, Michael Davis, Denny O’Neil, and Mindy Newell? I don’t blame you!) allow me to introduce myself by way of witty, snarky banter. I figured if I am to come out of the gate anew with a comic focused op-ed piece, I might as well start by swinging for the fences. So, let me point to the rafters over center field, and take the biggest swing I can.
Simply put: DC’s Flashpoint is a ten-pound turd in a five gallon bowl.
I use this nasty language, mind you, because I “covered” the event for a podcast I do from time to time… and have spent my hard earned dollars on this bloated excuse to sell toys, and piss off fans.

If you've ever wrapped a towel around your neck and pretended to fly, humming or whistling John Williams' iconic theme song, you've known the joy - even if it's just momentarily - of being Superman. If recapturing that feeling is something you desire, I can think of no better way to accomplish that than through the monumentous Blu-ray collection of The Superman Motion Picture Anthology.
This astounding collection accumulates everything a Superman fan could possibly want: Superman The Movie, Superman The Movie: Extended Edition, Superman II, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman III, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and Superman Returns. But not only does it include the films themselves (all complete with commentary tracks except Returns, itself loaded with a nearly three hour making-of documentary), this eight disk set contains over twenty hours of bonus features - enough to turn even the passing fan into a downright Superman historian.

Dust off those knee pads: in 2012, we'll once again be kneeling before the great and powerful General Zod!
Warner Bros. has sent an official press release that declares Michael Shannon, the actor who earned an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in "Revolutionary Road" and is currently chewing up scenery in "Boardwalk Empire," as the villain General Zod in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel."
Comic and movie fans are familiar with the tyrannical antics of Zod, who first appeared in the '60s and, most famously, battled the superhero in Richard Lester's "Superman II."
Previously portrayed by Terrance Stamp, Zod is an angry Kryptonian who escaped the planet's destruction during his incarceration in the alternate universe known as "The Phantom Zone." Producers on "Man of Steel" have already made it clear that their film has no continuity with Richard Donner's original or its sequels (including...

Though we've seen rumors of actors like Viggo Mortensen, Daniel Day-Lewis and Kevin Costner for roles in Zack Snyder's comic book adaptation Superman: Man of Steel, today we don't just have another rumor for the film, but a solid casting update via a press release from Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. Diane Lane (Secretariat, Jumper) has been cast as Martha Kent - mother to Clark Kent, secret identity of The Big Blue Boy Scout. Snyder commented on her casting: "This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman." Read on! Snyder continued, "We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.” Of course Lane will spend plenty of time with ...

We've known since October that director Zack Snyder would be at the helm of the new Superman: The Man of Steel. However, many of us have been waiting anxiously to find out who will don the cape and soar through the sky as Superman. Well, wait no longer as Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced that British actor Henry Cavill ("The Tudors," The Count of Monte Cristo) has landed the coveted superhero role as Krypton's last son Kal-El. Although I'm not familiar with most of his previous work (he'll also be leading The Immortals later this year) he does seem to have the looks to become The Big Blue Boy Scout. Here's what director Zack Snyder had to say about their new Superman: “In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return...

As casting rumours continue to roll in for Superman, Ti wonders, would Hollywood ever cast an openly gay actor in such a roll?
As Warner Brothers and Zack Snyder begin their hunt for a new Superman, it seems that everywhere I look, I see potential candidates. While watching The Social Network, I thought Armie Hammer would make a good Man of Steel, and likewise, while watching the new Hawaii Five-0 series, I kept imagining Alex O'Loughlin in the cape and tights.
However, while watching 30 Rock, I saw an actor who, in my eyes, looked exactly how I'd imagine Superman on the big screen: 6'3", well built and with a diverse acting range. The actor was Cheyenne Jackson, who plays Danny Baker in the show (and previously played Mark Bingham in United 93). Curious about what else he had done, I went on his IMDb page to browse his filmography and...

Elaine and Jarrod arrive in Los Angeles to meet up with Jarrod's newly successful best friend, Terry. Terry has struck it rich in the special effects industry, and the weekend is set up for a huge party. They are welcomed by lots of booze and swimsuits by the pool, followed by binge drinking and bathroom womanizing in the evening. Little do they all know, a gigantic force of extraterrestrial tentacled monstrosities are planning to strike in the early morning - just when their hangovers are beginning to kick in.

News of note from our Most Innovative Companies, including Nike, Hulu, Google, and Ibm.
Nike: Relax, Cleveland Cavs fans. LeBron is likely staying. The all-star will become a free agent in July, around the same time his seven-year contract with Nike will expire. LeBron has reportedly worked out a new multi-million dollar deal with the shoe-and-apparel giant, but according to sources, the contract does not include incentives or bonuses for playing in cities with larger markets, like New York or Los Angeles. While it's not set in stone that LeBron will stay with the Cavs, some believed the Nike contract might have influenced his decision to leave during free agency.
Hulu: In the Darkness will be the first feature-length movie to exclusively premiere on Hulu.com. Will "straight-to-Hulu" replace "straight-to-dvd" for future J. Lo movies?
Google: Scientists today released a new interactive Google map that allows viewers to see parts of the U.

Well, the weekend box office numbers are in and they look almost identical to this past Friday night. Avatar won the weekend, which isn't really a surprise, but what is interesting is that it ended up making nearly twice as much as the number two film, Legion...
January is typically a slow movie month but for a film in its sixth week to take in twice as much as a new release, well, I think it says something about the overall box office climate and about the incredible pull of "Avatar" itself.
That begs the question what will finally take down Avatar? The big blue alien giants just sailed past The Dark Knight to become the second highest-grossing film of all time and is bearing down on his 1997 epic Titanic, which holds the title with $601 million.
Now it's no longer a question of whether Avatar surpasses Titanic, but by how much.

Even though Bryan Singer's Superman Returns grossed $390 million worldwide, it is still considered a failure by many. Critics often compare it to Warner's other top superhero property, The Dark Knight, which grossed more than $1 billion and had a smaller production budget.
Still, Superman topped the list of a recent MTV poll that asked which DC Comics character should be fast-tracked to the big screen next. In a recent interview with MTV, Kevin Spacey said that he would be "delighted" to reprise the role of Lex Luthor in a sequel to Superman Returns.
If I ran Warner Brothers I could tell you definitively we'd be making that movie. But I don't, and they haven't called me to tell me. Literally, all I know is what I've heard from press reports. I can't even confirm whether those are true or not because I haven't spoken to Bryan.

Hoping to get a enormous paycheck from that high-paying cinematic machine known as the Comic Book Movie Adaptation, “Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels” director Guy Ritchie has announced that “Lobo,” a series published by DC Comics, will be the next literary character he brings to the big screen. The big blue interstellar mercenary with a penchant for extreme violence was conceived as an over-the-top version of Marvel’s “Wolverine” by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and quickly became popular with fans who gravitate towards stories with insane levels of blood and gore. If that’s the case, why is Ritchie aiming for a PG-13 rating? Which Hollywood big shot will be cast as the titular character? More importantly, will anyone care enough to check out the movie if the director doesn’t stay true to the source material? I’m sure more information will begin trickling out very soon, and...

I’m all for toys that morph into new play experiences as a child grows – and that’s one of the reasons we’re loving the VTech 3-in-1 Smart Wheels ($40).

The big blue steering wheel in the dashboard is a favorite with my son and his play-date pals, who smack the little red horn ferociously, giggling when it beeps.
With the flip of a bright orange lever, he bounces to the ABC song and then the ABCs clearly spoken in ascending order. There is counting and numbers and modes that switch depending upon which buttons he pushes. The bright music and lights really entertain him and the driving mode – with speeding up and slowing down sounds – is a big hit.
