48 writers over 40 have scripts for films and TV shows ready to go, and have been showcased by The Grey List 2024.
Launched in 2022 as a response to the entertainment industry and its habit of being on the ageist side of things, The Grey List is now in its third year. It’s the idea of Brad M Johnson, and a response to the fact that once creatives get past 40, it can be harder to break in, and harder to get the attention of Hollywood decision makers.
As such, the list is a collection of production-ready feature and pilot scripts, that are completed and ready for market. The unifying feature between them all is that they’re written by writers who are all over 40.
2024’s The Grey List has thus been published, and it features 48 writers across its collection of projects. To give a flavour of some of the ideas on the list,...

Top Dog is a feisty crime drama written by Green Street writer Dougie Brimson, the film charts the fall of reformed bad boy Billy Evans (Leo Gregory), who leads a strong cast including Dannielle Brent and Lorraine Stanley.
The film is the second feature from director Martin Kemp, who takes care to ensure that his film has heart, as well as a good old-fashioned fight. We sat with the director himself, alongside Leo Gregory, to discuss their work on the production.
Top Dog is in cinemas from Friday 23rd May and out to own on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 26th May through Universal Pictures. Read our review here.

★☆☆☆☆Adapted from the novel by Green Street (2005) scribe Dougie Brimson, Top Dog (2014) is the latest offering from Jonathan Sothcott's Richwater Films, who seem intent on burying British independent cinema under a mountain of cockney gangster flicks and inferior horrors. Unfortunately for anyone with even a modicum of taste, there's undoubtedly a certain demographic that will lap up football hooligan dramas, and wouldn't give "a monkey's" if some jumped-up reviewer gives Martin Kemp's Top Dog a critical hiding. Good for them. Ignorance is famously bliss, whilst the rest of us that unfortunately chose the rocky path of knowledge have to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous filmmaking.

Crime dramas, crime thrillers, gangster films. They often get a bad rap – and it’s not hard to see why when there’s a constant stream of poorly made, low budget films being spurned out with the same boring plot where someone shoots someone because he ‘mugged off’ wotshisname / stole the drugs / snitched on so-and-so. So it’s something of a relief when something comes along that’s been made with a little more effort, which is where Martin Kemp’s Top Dog comes into play.
Top Dog was brought to life by Green Street writer Dougie Brimson and lead actor Leo Gregory, who plays bad-boy-turned-good Billy Evans. Evans makes the fatal faux pas of trying to protect his family from a local gang who are charging them protection money – so far, so ordinary. But director Kemp is evidently keen on attempting to present something a little different. There is...

Claire Forlani has signed to join Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam in Odd Lot Entertainment's Hooligans. Also set to team on director Lexi Alexander's soccer-themed project are Marc Warren, Leo Gregory and Terence Jay. Set to start shooting this weekend in London, Hooligans centers on a Harvard undergraduate (Wood) who moves to London after he is wrongfully expelled from the Ivy League school. Once there, he meets up with a young man (Hunnam) who introduces him to the violent underworld of soccer hooliganism. Forlani will play the married sister of Wood's character. Warren plays her husband, with Gregory as the best mate of Hunnam's character and Jay as a golden boy at Harvard who sets off the destructive spiral of Wood's character. Alexander teamed with Dougie Brimson to develop the story, and the duo then took it to scribe Josh Shelov to flesh it out to a full screenplay. Odd Lot's Gigi Pritzker, Deborah Del Prete and Donald Zuckerman are producing. Senator International repped worldwide sales rights for Odd Lot. Forlani is repped by WMA and attorney Robert Offer. Warren is repped by Paradigm and Gilly Sanguinetti. Gregory is repped by CAA. Jay is repped by Talentworks and the Marshak/Zachary Co.
