Many thanks to Comic Book Resources for the following quote from Joe Quesada, as well as new concept art from the upcoming animated series. For more, be sure to head on over to the site by clicking on the link below. "One thing I've been really excited and talking about consistently is our upcoming "Ultimate Spider-Man" animated show that's coming to Disney Xd in 2012. What makes this Spider-Man cartoon really special and unique is that, while there have been many great Spidey shows in the past, it's the first Spidey cartoon made by Marvel. Marvel writers and artists worked directly on this show so it's going to have more Marvel DNA than any show that has come previously. Jeph Loeb has assembled a pretty amazing creative brain trust and writers room consisting of Paul Dini, Man of Action (Joe Kelly, Steve Seagle, Joe Casey and Duncan Rouleau), Spider-Man Editor Steve Wacker,...

Marvel Comics writer Joe Casey has said that he is enjoying the opportunity to craft his new miniseries Vengeance away from the spotlight of major events like Fear Itself. The six-issue limited series launched earlier this month with the introduction of around six new characters, and Casey promises an epic conclusion for those readers on board. "We're out of the spotlight, and that freedom allows us to approach this in a way that doesn't have to appeal to some perceived massive audience that some folks think is out there," Casey explained to Comic Book Resources. "And we certainly have the will to be weird." The writer teased: "I suppose there's a massive payoff for anyone who might be interested in the fate of the Marvel Universe." Foulkes may not be a recognizable name, but many will recognize her in the T-Moble commercials as the company spokesperson. Even though she is murdered, Foulkes’ image will be used throughout the show on billboards, and advertisements. “She’s the Princess Di of the Powers World.”
Bendis also spoke well of Lucy Punch who came out of nowhere to earn the role of co-lead Deena Pilgrim. “Lucy came in and destroyed it,” Bendis said. “She transformed herself into Deena. She’s bringing something that no one expected. We said to ourselves,’That’s what Deena is...

Joe Casey has discussed some details of his forthcoming Marvel Comics miniseries Vengeance. The Godland writer spoke to MTV Geek about the secrecy surrounding the title, which puts the spotlight on the veteran and new generation villains of the Marvel Universe. "Let me tell you something," said Casey. "The 'secrecy' is nothing more than confusion and chaos on our part. None of us on this side of the curtain are entirely sure exactly what kind of book we're doing here. But there's something glorious to be found within that chaos, and I, for one, intend to ride this wave all the way to the shore. "No one's paying attention anyway, so hanging on by our fingertips seemed like the right way to go, creatively speaking. As for any connection to that Turn-Of-The-Eighties crossover extravaganza... They talk about what they set out to do, how the three of them collaborated and more.

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Butcher Baker: The Righteous Maker by Joe Casey (Wildcats 3.0) and Mike Huddleston (Gen 13). The comic has been described as raunchy and Nsfw, full of tongue-in-cheek visuals and tons of pop culture references. Butcher Baker tells the story of a jaded ex-superhero that gets pulled from a wanton retirement for one last loose end from his glory days. The first printing has sold out and Image Comics says that a second printing is well on the way with a new cover for your troubles.
The hype surrounding the superhero satire has been building since way back in November, but the enthusiastic debut has shocked even Casey, who promises big things ahead.
“It’s nice to know there’s a healthy amount of readers that are as sick and twisted as I am,” said Casey. “Then again, maybe it’s just all about Huddleston’s art.

You know how it was announced that the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show was to debut on Disney Xd in Fall 2011? Well, according to Marvel's Twitter account, it's been pushed back to the beginning of 2012, a few months ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man. In addition, check out the following that was just posted to Marvel.com: Earlier this year, we let you know “Ultimate Spider-Man” would hit the animated airwaves in the near future. Since then, the show’s writers and producers have held a number of summits to hash out the stories for Spidey’s next animated adventure. So, we spoke with Marvel Television Development Associate Harrison Wilcox about how the most recent summit, held two weeks ago. In attendance were writers Joe Kelly, Steve Seagle, Joe Casey and Duncan Rouleau—collectively known as Man of Action—as well as Paul Dini and Brian Michael Bendis. Also pitching in were Jeph Loeb,...

At a recent summit for the show that included writers Joe Kelly, Steve Seagle, Joe Casey and Duncan Rouleau, along with Paul Dini, Brian Michael Bendis, Jeph Loeb, Joe Quesada, Stephen Wacker, Cort Lane and Harrison Wilcox, Marvel Television Development Associate Harrison Wilcox talked about the different way in which they're putting the show together. While most animated series' have a single story editor who works with the producers, Ultimate Spider-Man will be doing things a lot differentely. Because this is our Spider-Man show, and the first show that Marvel is producing itself, Jeph wanted to do things a little differently and have a writers' room meet together to break the story. On The Plans For The First Season Of Ultimate Spider-Man: The first summit was very much setting up who the characters were, the pilot that Paul wrote, and the overall arc for Peter, Spider-Man, the main cast and our main villains.

The IFC News team bumped into rock star Ziggy Marley on the convention floor at Comic-Con 2010, and got the scoop on his new super-hero book "Marijuanaman." The book's publisher, Image Comics, describes its protagonist as a being "from a planet that is in desperate need of Thc. Marijuanaman seeks to save Earth's marijuana fields from destruction by the drug company PharmeXon, and thus saving his home planet from destruction." Dude, Cheech & Chong must me kicking themselves for never thinking of this.
Marley told us about the book while flanked by his collaborators on the series, writer Joe Casey ("Godland") and Jim Mahfood ("Grrl Scouts").
