What’s your favorite Giant Bomb moment?
The bellicose “Mario Party” livestreams? The miraculous Persona 4 endurance run? The time Brad Shoemaker went knives out for “Destiny” to the shock and horror of his colleagues in the middle of one of those interminable Game of the Year deliberations? Maybe when the late, great Ryan Davis found the deepest reservoir of his showman instincts to down an unscrupulous jar of breast milk presented to him in the middle of the 2013 Pax panel? Or when Jeff Gerstmann threatened to ice other game critics with an airsoft gun over a muffled Ice Cube song? Or one of those winsome late-summer Bombcasts, when the release schedule is dry, and the crew finds themselves layering digression after digression – unpacking the gonzo “Fast & Furious” timeline, or the Insane Clown Posse filmography, or Jeff’s legendary stories about his former dwelling out in the boonies – until the...

Chris Hemsworth's move back to Oz meant ditching 2 gorgeous homes in L.A. -- which in turn meant lining his pockets with an extra $2.6 million! First the Malibu home ... Chris listed the 6,800 sq ft, 5 bedroom Point Dume spot for $6.5 million last month, but he got $7 mil from the new buyers. Pretty sweet, considering Chris bought it for $4.8 mil. As for the smaller Santa Monica condo -- it's a mere 1,200 sq ft and 2 bedrooms ... Chris...

A discussion on Kansas City public radio about cult movies prompts this week’s Question. From Kcur.org 89.3Fm:
In his 1981 book, fittingly titled, Cult Movies, film critic Danny Peary defined cult films as “special films which for one reason or another have been taken to heart by segments of the movie audience, cherished, protected, and most of all, enthusiastically championed.”
Our own film professor, Thom Poe, divides up cult films into different areas. Some cult films fall into the “so bad they’re good” category. This would include anything made by Ed Wood or more recently, anything made by The Asylum.
Another category would be considered “quality” cult films. These are films that didn’t get any notice when they were first released, but over the years, have developed very loyal followings. Films like Shock Corridor, Freaks, Donnie Darko, and The Big Lebowski keep audiences returning to theaters year after year.

Sad news for followers of gaming journalism today. Ryan Davis, contributor and co-founder of the popular site Giant Bomb, has been confirmed to have passed away from unspecified causes on July 3rd. He was 34 years old.
Davis originally helped fellow writer Jeff Gerstmann found the site in early 2008, and had stayed there since its inception. The site offers such features as “Quick Looks”, in which Davis, Gerstmann, or several other employees play brief portions of new releases, as well as the popular Giant Bombcast podcast, which regularly releases new episodes each Tuesday.
As a fan of Giant Bomb since its creation, this is immensely heartbreaking news. The site would not be what it is today without the involvement of Ryan Davis, and he was responsible for many a funny moment in both their podcasts and videos. Things will not be the same without him, and we wish all of his...
