RuPaul’s Drag Race named a new winner this past week, as Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane, and Sapphira Cristál competed for the throne.
Nymphia was named the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16, taking home a nice $200,000 check for her hard work.
Nymphia also earned the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar.
“To those who feel like they don’t belong, just remember to live fearlessly and have courage to live your truth. And Taiwan, this is for you!” she told Entertainment Weekly.
It took 16 long episodes to lead to a winner, and some Drag Race fans feel the work and talent should yield a bigger prize.
One of those fans is Big Brother 24 winner Taylor Hale, who shared some thoughts on social media.

Long live the new queen! Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race reached its dramatic conclusion on Friday, culminating with a lip sync smackdown for the crown.
This time around, it really was any queen’s game. A recent TVLine poll was split almost completely evenly between the final trio — Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane and Sapphira Cristál — with Sapphira edging out her tied competitors by only a single percent. Even the queens’ track records are remarkably similar; Plane and Sapphira each have four wins under their belts, while Nymphia has three.

Wind walked away with a one-year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills Cosmetics and cash prize of $200,000. The runner-up did not leave the floor empty-handed, walking away with a $25,000 cash tip. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on April 5 with episode 14 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the final four, referred to as the semi-finalists, developed concepts for a memoir, wrote stories about their lives and then presented those ideas to Matt Rogers in a live podcast interview.
After critiques from the judges, Sapphira Cristál, Plane Jane, Q and Nymphia Wind made their way to the “Untucked Lounge” where Jane and Q were convinced that they were the bottom two. Based on critiques from the judges, Sapphira Cristál and Plane Jane were feeling the most confident about their chances at a win as the queens made their way to the Untucked Lounge.
All the queens thought that the challenge and the improv aspect was “harder than the seminars” from last week. That was, in part, why Jane had a “breakdown” in the Werk Room where she showed the first crack in the armor with a lack of confidence going into the performance. She explained that the challenges are getting harder and though she’s “fueled by delusion,” that...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 22 with the twelfth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode 11, the girls were challenged by getting into their corporate gig to deliver informative sessions on “Drag Awareness.” Sapphira Cristál outshined the members of her group, earning a third maxi challenge for herself and sending Morphine Love Dion into the Lip Sync for Your Life against fellow Miami queen Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige. In her fourth trip to the bottom, Mhi’ya was bested by Morphine and sent packing.
Seated at the judges’ dais this week for episode 12 titled “Bathroom Hunties” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, recurring judge Carson Kressley, and Mayan Lopez as the special guest judge.
The queens still vying for the crown are: Dawn, Morphine Love Dion, Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane, Q, and Sapphira Cristál.

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Trixie Mattel recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s eleventh episode, the Etb for guacamole on Taco Tuesday queen of “All Stars 8” Jessica Wild stopped by the studio for her first recap experience. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Jessica and Trixie agreed that Sapphira Cristál is a queen they would be intimidated to compete against because she’s so successful in many areas, and of course Trixie wanted to know Jessica’s thoughts on Morphine Love Dion‘s makeup skills. Referring to the mini challenge, Jessica said that Plane Jane is the most delusional on the cast and Trixie made the point that delusional drag queens are not a bad thing.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 15 with episode 11 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the queens worked in teams to present silly seminars in their best corporate drag in promotion of the fake week of “Drag Awareness Month.”
After receiving their critiques from the judges, the queens made their way to the “Untucked Lounge” to reflect on their performances in the maxi challenge and 80s inspired runway looks. The consensus in the room was that this was the hardest challenge so far this season and they agreed that the hosting aspect and structure is what made it so difficult. Q was “thrilled” with her performance alongside Plane Jane and thought that this was her moment to “snatch another win.” Everyone loved the “slides and clips” joke that they incorporated in to their presentation,...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 15 with the eleventh episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode ten, the queens promoted the power of voting by adding original verses to RuPaul’s newest hit “Power.” In a surprising twist, Sapphira Cristál and Morphine Love Dion were named the top two and asked to face off in a Lip Sync for the Win. Sapphira earned her second maxi challenge win by defeating Morphine while Plane Jane contributed to what became a non-elimination episode by sparing Nymphia Wind with her soon-to-expire Immunity Potion.
Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 11 titled “Corporate Queens” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, recurring judge Ross Mathews, and comedian Joel Kim Booster as the special guest judge.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 8 with episode 10 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the final seven queens inspired the audience with original verses to Ru’s new song “Power,” an empowering anthem encouraging young people to exercise their right to vote.
In the last chance to use her Immunity Potion lest it would expire, Plane Jane decided to gift the safety to her sister Nymphia Wind. Safe from elimination meant Nymphia would not receive critiques and so she retreated to the Untucked Lounge alone while the others remained on the Main Stage. Once they returned, Dawn thought there was “an evident top three” of Sapphira Cristál, Morphine Love Dion and Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 8 with the tenth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode nine, the girls faced their third design challenge of the season and once again seamstress Q came out on top with another maxi challenge win. On the bottom was Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige who sent home frontrunning musical theater queen Plasma home in a Lady Gaga lip sync.
This week, Ru wanted the final seven queens to continue the tradition of drag queens being agents of change by inspiring the audience to vote with original verses to her song “Power.” Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 10 titled “Werq the World” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, recurring judge Ross Mathews, and Jamal Sims as the choreographer and special guest judge.

All season long, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” fans will be making their predictions at Gold Derby for who they think will win Season 16, and who will be eliminated next. After the ousters of Hershii LiqCour-Jeté, Mirage, Amanda Tori Meating, Geneva Karr, Megami, Xunami Muse and Plasma, the next episode will take place March 8 on MTV. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 1 with episode 9 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the eight remaining queens faced their third design challenge in a task to create a “Neo-Goth” look that is both darkly twisted and fashionable. All of them received critiques from the judges and then made their way as a full group to the lounge with an unclear vision of how the winner and bottom two placements would unfold.
Plane Jane was a bit surprised that she got a “mixed bag” of critiques and wondered if maybe this is the week she should have used her Immunity Potion. Dawn told her that she made a “lovely and detailed” garment, but compared to the other more intricate designs by her, Q and Nymphia Wind, it didn’t measure up.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on March 1 with the ninth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode eight, Plane Jane joined Nymphia Wind and Plasma at the top of the tracking board with her second maxi challenge win in the iconic “Snatch Game.” At the bottom was Morphine Love Dion who sadly had to send her sister Xunami Muse home in the Lip Sync for Your Life.
This week, the remaining 8 queens get behind the sewing machine again for a Neo-Goth design challenge. Seated at the judges’ dais for episode 9 titled “See You Next Wednesday” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, recurring judge Carson Kressley, and Kaia Gerber as the extra special guest.

Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige may not be the best Cher impersonator, but after Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, we can confidently call her the lip sync assassin of Season 16.
Following a lackluster performance in this week’s Wednesday-themed design challenge, which found the contestants channeling their inner goths on the runway, the self-proclaimed Queen of Flips once again landed in the bottom two. For those keeping score at home (aka all of us), this marked Mhi’ya’s third time having to lip sync for her life, resulting in a humbling experience for the Miami-based entertainer.

Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Sasha and Trixie have fun addressing the “unsolicited shade” of this season and how even when Plane Jane calls anyone “sister” feels like subtle shade as well. Sasha gives Jane some defense by admitting that as drag queens they all “just have a crippling desire for people to love us” and Jane is no different. When it came to the reading challenge of her season, Sasha was impressed by Loosey Laduca and Malaysia Babydoll Foxx; this season the standouts for her were Jane and Xunami Muse.

Amanda Tori Meating thought it was her “week to win” on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Episode 5. Then she was sent home. The drag queen was the greenest of the cast, having only gotten into the artform a couple of years prior. But with the Episode 5 maxi challenge being performance-based, this musical theater-trained diva was ready to win it all. She delivered one of the night’s best performances in the Girl Group challenge, and helping with lyric writing and choreography in rehearsals impressed her competitors (especially rival Plane Jane). But her runway look didn’t please the judges. Even though the birds nest idea was creative, host RuPaul didn’t think it served the pussy cat wig theme. When RuPaul opened the floor up to critiques, asking each queen to reveal who they think should go home that night, Amanda’s stomach dropped. “I was like, ‘Oh, this does...
