- Created (with Graham Nolan) the Batman comic book villain Bane, who later appeared in the movie 'Batman and Robin (1997)' and 'The Dark Knight Rises (2012)'.
- Adapted "The Hobbit" into graphic novel form in the mid-1980s. The book has been in publication for more than 20 years, and continues to be one of the best-selling comic books on the market.
- Chuck Dixon's 1980s graphic novel 'Jungle Rules' was briefly considered as the basis for Die Hard 4. The story features airplane crash survivors fighting a drug cartel in the jungles of South America.
- On 'The Big Bang Theory (2007)' episode "The Hofstadter Isotope," Sheldon's assertion that having Bruce Wayne know who murdered his parents destroys any motivation he has for continuing to be Batman comes directly from the works of Chuck Dixon. Dixon is one of the most prolific writers of the Batman comic books, and specifically wrote a story for Detective Comics in which it is proven that Joe Chill did not kill the Thomas and Martha Wayne.
- In 2011, he was tapped by Sylvester Stallone to do a script rewrite for "The Expendables 2". He eventually declined, but was later tapped to write an Expendables comic book.
