"We must join together to prevent the schemes of evil men." Falling Forward Films has revealed a first look teaser trailer for a long-awaited independent superhero movie called Legend of the White Dragon, the feature directorial debut of "Super Power Beat Down" filmmaker Aaron Schoenke. This trailer comes from this year's San Diego Comic Con - the project was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and was initially set for 2023. Now it's aiming to open sometime in early 2024. In the film, three years after a tragic battle, Erik Reed returns to his city to protect his wife and daughter from a new threat. It's described as a "mature take on the Power Rangers franchise" and introduces a new universe. The film stars Jason David Frank (in his final role before he passed away late 2022), Aaron Schoenke, Mayling Ng, David Ramsey, Andrew Bachelor, Jason Faunt, Ciara Hanna, Mark Dacascos, and Michael Madsen. The dialogue in this is rough,...

Jason David Frank, the actor who originated the role of Tommy Oliver a.k.a. the Green Ranger in the “Power Rangers” franchise, died Nov. 19 in Texas. He was 49 years old.
Frank’s death was confirmed to the Associated Press by his manager, Justine Hunt. No further details about the actor’s death could be confirmed, but she asked for the “privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being.”
“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” premiered in 1993 on Fox Kids, airing for three years for a young audience enthused by its dynamic casting of kung-fu savvy vigilantes. The “Power Rangers” franchise has continued across multiple iterations and adaptations in the years since, with Frank often returning to his role in the series, becoming a beloved figure among the fanbase.

"I don't care about our legacy." We're still a few years away from seeing Matt Reeves' The Batman (due out in 2022), in the meantime this short will definitely scratch your itch for extra Batman content. Batman: Dying is Easy is an impressive new fan-film made by the brothers Aaron and Sean Schoenke. The short pitch for it is: "Fan created. Professionally made. A psychological film about the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince." The short film is a dark psychological thriller about Batman and Joker, similar to that iconic scene in The Dark Knight when he grabs him in the police station prison. Kevin Porter stars as Batman, Aaron Schoenke as Joker, with Michael Madsen as Bullock, plus appearances by a few other Arkham Asylum regulars. The quality of this fan film is through the roof, and it just makes me more excited for The Batman. Thanks to ScreenRant for the tip on this short.

Will that be enough to take down someone who regularly puts down Gotham's toughest metahumans without breaking a sweat? Cheesy dialogue aside, the fight choreography is absolutely Insane and easily better than anything you'll see on the superhero shows on ABC or The CW. A thriving Machinima series is also a fanboy's fantasy. This time, he has reached the heart of every middle school debate, discussion board argument, and fanbase kerfuffle by creating action-packed scenarios that end with only one pop culture icon remaining. In the latest showdown, Schoenke even got the White Ranger himself, Jason David Frank, to reprise his old role. So (spoiler alert!) the winner also happens to star in another Machinima series, which brings up the most brilliant part of Super Power Beat Down. Why Watch? Batman giving beat downs, Poison Ivy using rose thorns during simulated sex, and sweet, sweet action. Cruising the internet today I found this wicked Batman fan film that has surpassed the best fan film of the character to date, Batman: Dead End. This 30 minute movie is called Batman: City of Scars.
The short film’s premise tells a singular story of Batman when the Joker escapes from Arkham and murders the parents of a young boy. Now Batman recalls the pain of losing his own parents as a child. He is pushed past his limits to the point where his focus becomes revenge on all who stand in his way, including many of Gotham’s underworld. Finally, Batman is forced to look at the psychological profile of his own mind and except the consequences of his life to find resolve.

Ah, fan films. How can you ever get enough of them? At their best, they remind us why we love the character in the first place, and make us wonder why the studio can’t get anywhere close to their quality. At their worst, they feature bad actors reciting bad dialogue. Most fan films fall somewhere in-between — a combination of wonderful visuals mixed in with community theater-level scripting and acting. “Batman: City of Scars” is one of those. I would recommend watching it with the sound turned off, because the running voiceover is insufferably tedious. MTV says the fan film is from Aaron Schoenke and his father Sean, and took 21 days to shoot, the production spaced out over 16 months. The whole thing cost $27,000 to make, and runs a whopping 30 minutes, an eternity in terms of fan films. Batman is played by Kevin Porter, a working actor in Hollywood (he had...

If you want any more proof as to what a dollar can do in the filming industry these days, look no further. With the belching bloat of some studio productions that spend $2 million on bagels (the good kind), it seems almost paradoxical, but on the other side of the fence is the lowering cost of making a short film of your very own. So that's what you do - especially if you're Aaron Schoenke, and you want to make a calling card with one of the most famous bat-obsessed super heroes.

Batman immediately goes to work on the case leaving no stone unturned, questioning fellow inmates and informants on the street. Will Batman find the family in time or will the boy wind up an orphan like Batman himself?
Sounds like the beginnings of a great plot for the next Christopher Nolan Batman film, right? Actually, it’s the premise of a new fan-film released over the weekend called “City of Scars.”
Fan-films have never been easier to create now that everyone has access to some type of video camera (even if it’s their cell phone) and a place to upload it. Shot with high-definition cameras and a budget of just over $27,000, “City of Scars” is obviously not your average fan-film. In fact, you could say it’s something Robin would have made with his weekly allowance.

What's the appeal to amateur filmmakers to invest their manpower and money to make Batman fan films? Remember Batman: Dead End, the short film that Sandy Collora made back in 2003? Or what about John Fiorella's Grayson, the Robin wish-it-could-have-been trailer? If you thought that you had seen the best of what could be done with Batman on a microbudget, this brand new short may make you reevaluate your opinion. It doesn't even have the word "Batman" in its title.
Welcome to City of Scars.
Directed and co-written by Aaron Schoenke, it's another fan production. However, unlike earlier Batman fan-films, City of Scars runs at an impressive 26-minutes in length (30 mins and change if you could the end credits.) Created by Bat in the Sun, a Los Angeles-based film and music production created by Schoenke and his brother Sean (who also composed the music for City of Scars), the film has high production values,...

Have there been many notable Batman fan films (if any) made since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight? I don't know, I mean, that's a hard act to follow and I think you'd have to have some balls to even attempt it. Cue filmmaker Aaron Schoenke and his big ol' balls, as he brings us City Of Scars, a Batman fan film that pits the Caped Crusader against his archnemesis The Joker in a grim-n-gritty 30 minute tale. Schoenke shot the short in 21 days on HD cameras on a budget of $27,000. The...

Check out this 30-minute short that recently surfaced on the web, titled Batman: City of Scars. A fellow by the name of Aaron Schoenke is the director, and he reportedly made it for $27,000, shot with an HD camera, over 21 days.
Schoenke’s IMDb resume shows that he’s directed 3 more of these Batman shorts, although I’m not entirely sure why – other than that he might just be a big fan. I guess they could be Hollywood calling cards? I dunno. Christopher Nolan already has the Batman gig sewn up… at least for now. $27,000 on a short film is good money; Maybe instead use it to produce an original idea. But, whatever his plans are, just might work out!
The film will reportedly be available for free online through July 18th.
So, catch it while you can. Here it is below:

Hey Gang! A fun new fan-made Batman short film has been released online called City of Scars. The 30 minute movie focuses on Batman as he is pushed past his psychological limits to the point of focusing only on revenge on all who stand in his way.
When the Joker escapes from Arkham and murders the parents of a young boy, Batman recalls the pain of losing his own parents as a child. He is pushed past his limits to the point where his focus becomes revenge on all who stand in his way, including many of Gotham’s underworld. Finally, Batman is forced to look at the psychological profile of his own mind and except the consequences of his life to find resolve.
The short was written and directed by Aaron Schoenke. He shot the movie on 21 day schedule using HD cameras, and a $27,000 budget. You can tell this film...

A new Batman fan film is now online called "City of Scars". The 30-minute short tells the story of Batman, who is "pushed past his psychological limits to the point of focusing only on revenge on all who stand in his way."
