Gervais’ David Brent will become Hannah Howard in the series, with Ward putting her own spin on bad team management at packaging company Flinley Craddick. Thinking about watching yet another movie or TV show about vampires generally fills me with dread - thanks, Twilight - but FX's TV adaptation of Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi's What We Do in the Shadows is a rare exception.
The 2014 mockumentary is hilarious and original, following undead trio Viago (Waititi), Deacon (Jonny Brugh), and Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) as they struggle with the more mundane aspects of modern life - paying rent, following a chore wheel, and trying to engage in New Zealand's nightclub scene. Now the movie has gotten a Us makeover, and the first trailer looks just as delightfully absurd as the original.
Set in New York City this time around, the TV series will again follow three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years. It stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen, and Mark Proksch and has Clement and Waititi on board once again,...

Shelton, a small-time crook, inadvertently steals an ancient Chinese time-travelling device which doesn't simply turn back time but for a short period, allows him to work with his past-self.
Shelton comes up with the great idea to work with past versions of himself to pull off a couple of jobs but what he doesn't realize is that by coming into contact with himself in the timeline, he's tampering with time and a demonic force which is out to get him.
This is the basis of Mega Time Squad, a new sci-fi comedy from New Zealand which tore up the genre festival circuit last year.
Written and directed by relative newcomer Tim van Dammen, the movie stars Jonny Brugh (Deacon from What We Do in the Shadows) as Shelton, the less than genius crook tempting the fates.

In a recent interview, writer/director Tim Van Dammen described Mega Time Squad as “an absurd time travel crime comedy with a big heart about a loveable rural idiot with modest aspirations who uses a time travel bracelet to steal the money needed to fulfill his dream of moving to the neighbouring town… but he fucks up the time travelling bit.”
I go one further and describe Mega Time Squad as one of the greatest time travel movies ever committed to celluloid. Yes, I said it...

The mean streets of Thames, New Zealand — though “moderately impolite” appears to be about as bad as it gets — become an improbable setting for supernaturally-sparked action in “Mega Time Squad.” Tim van Dammen’s clever crime comedy pegs good guys and bad guys alike as gormless clods, a dynamic only heightened after the discovery of a time-travel device that generates clones of our none-too-bright hero. The unique mix of simultaneously droll and broad humor is very nicely delivered by a well-cast ensemble, resulting in a polished oddity that should make a splash at home, while attracting decent overseas interest.
The film represents a considerable leap from prolific music-video helmer van Dammen’s prior feature, 2013’s amusing if rough trailer-park rock musical “Romeo and Juliet: A Love Song,” and the tongue-in-cheek splashiness of its style is immediately engaging. John (Anton Tennet) is a prime punter in his town of 7,000, where long-deceased...

New Zealand scifi comedy Mega Time Squad will soon be taking a bow as part of the Fantasia Festival in Montreal and if the trailer for Tim Van Dammen's latest creation doesn't make your inner geek laugh until it pees just a little bit ... well, then I'll be forced to question your geeky credentials. John, a low-level crim from Thames, New Zealand finds an ancient Chinese time-travel device that can help him pull off a heist and start a new life but he may not survive the consequences of tampering with time. Anton Tennet (Underbelly), Jonny Brugh (What We Do In The Shadows) and Milo Cawthorne (Deathgasm) star in the most ridiculous time-travel crime movie of all time... Mega Time Squad! This thing is...

Catfight (Onur Tukel)
Who knew that one of the year’s most potent representations of America’s addiction to abrasive conflict would be Anne Heche and Sandra Oh beating each other to a pulp? Onur Tukel’s Catfight is an unabashedly silly and political film, but it’s also a funny one, with its two lead actresses literally and figuratively hurling themselves into their roles. Heche and Oh play...

20. The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared
Eccentrically layered yet simple in plot, the Swedish adaptation of Jonas Jonasson’s novel does a fine job in balancing satire with tenderness. Telling the story of Allan Karlsson (Robert Gustafsson), a 100-year-old explosive enthusiast...
