A second season for Netflix's live-action One Piece series was officially announced, building upon the stellar Season 1 cast with a whole new batch of characters.
Led by Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, the live-action One Piece cast faithfully brought to life the beloved world of Eiichiro Oda's pirating anime, racking up stellar viewership numbers and rave reviews.
This led the streamer to green light Season 2, as the One Piece creative team ventures further into this swashbuckling adventure. According to series cinematographer Nicole Hirsch Whitaker, they have "definitely started writing" Season 2.

NewportFilm has announced the revival of its Cinematography Lab, which seeks to provide creative support and mentorship to emerging documentary cinematographers. Six fellows will participate in this year’s program, which is set to be held on Oct. 21-23 at the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I.
Robb Moss, a department chair of Visual and Environmental studies at Harvard University, John Behrens, who served as director of photography on “The Social Dilemma” and “The Game Changers” and Nicole Hirsch Whitaker, director of photography on “Cobain: Montage of Heck” and “Girl Rising,” will serve as mentors for the lab. This year’s accepted fellows include Justin Deegan, Daniel Götz, Matthew O. Henderson, Serena Hodges, Lauretta Prevost and Jane Macedo Yang.

With peak TV refusing to actually peak, the consistent influx of new television content not only brings with it new opportunities to tell female-centric stories, but also more chances for women to take pivotal production positions. That includes cinematographers, who have the opportunity to tell these stories in ways that subvert the traditional male gaze.
Just looking at the sheer volume of television, the medium should provide more space for women in this role: There are now approximately 500 scripted series airing in a calendar year, which means there are at least 500 of these positions available.
Admittedly in the longer-running shows the same person usually stays with the project season over season. Due due to increasingly intense production demands, shifting schedules and a person’s commitment to multiple projects, newer series often see anywhere from two to five people in this specific high-profile position for a season.
