Known as "Mary London" to radio listeners for nearly two decades. As a popular on air radio personality in Richmond VA, New Orleans LA and Charlotte NC, her creative skills challenged her to became a voice over artist. Acknowledged for her dulcet voice, mimicking abilities, character voices, knack for improvisation and writing skills, she also found satisfaction in editing and producing audio. The death of her beloved husband Michael, inspired the book that launched her into a new world as author, playwright and actor.
The semi-biographical book "The Loss World" was adapted for stage in 2015, as "The Loss World Monologues" with reviews calling it "the emotional grief version of "Vagina Monologues", where humor and pathos surrounding the grieving process were revealed. A new iteration was created in 2018 which included music transitions from singer/songwriter Kelly Zirbes.
In 2022 the short film "The Loss World Monologues" was completed with Maria Howell directing, receiving multiple IMDB qualifying Awards including 3 at WRPN Women's International Film Festival for short film, original concept and best actress (Patricia French) plus multiple awards for best actress nominations and awards for Maria Howell in other festivals. Cast includes Maria Howell, Patricia French, Vickie Eng, Michelle Weber and Mary London Szpara , with choreography and dance by Reba Bowens and music by Diane Durrett and Robin Rogers .
